Is Your Tap Too Cool to Extrude?

  • So you've installed Voron Tap, updated your probe code so you don't fudge up your print surface and now your printer gets stuck at 150 degrees!? What gives! In this video, I show you where the Voron instructions fall short and filling the missing macro code! Remember your printer only knows what it's told and it will always do things in the order you tell it to!

    Thanks, just what I was looking for! I just finished building my VORON V2. Very similar to yours.

    So many other complicated videos and your video helped me understand WTF is going on.
    Thank You!

      That's exactly why I'm making videos. To many people with either too many skip ahead sections or too bust chatting. Its hard for a new person who wants to build a printer!

    Your video saved my Voron build. I fully agree that the git is missing the steps you've added in this video. Also awesome vid, had me cracking up.
    For reference, I am modifying a V2.4 350mm with Klicky probe (switch kept breaking) to Voron tap (1-pc Optotap pcb).

      @@BuildItBasement I'm still a little shaky on several things which might be great video topics: (1) I'm not sure where the following are running: klippy host, klipper, klipperscreen, moonraker, mainsail - these seem to be tightly coupled and sharing data, (2) are all config files going to be stored in the /home/pi/printer_data/config folder? Thanks!

    Hi, thanks a lot for this video. Start G-code will be modified in the same way if we are using Prusaslicer?

    • @BuildItBasement
      @BuildItBasement  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The modification to Prusa should be very close to Orca. Both are based on Super Slicer

      @@BuildItBasement Hi, I tried your slicer mod and it works for prusa slicer. Thanks for this informative video.

    Great Video! What would be the code to put in for orca slicer? Would it be the same code as cura or super slicer?

    • @BuildItBasement
      @BuildItBasement  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Super Slicer should be the same (they are close cousins, Orca and SS). Cura is different - I thought I provided information on that in the video! Cura was around 6:15... No?

    • @salvatoremicciche6895
      @salvatoremicciche6895 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for responding! I think the issue was that I tried to put the code you had on your cura file onto my orca file. I haven’t gotten a chance but when I do I’m going to try and out the code for SS onto orca and see what happens. I also copied the code for the print start too from your link so I believe that should work fine too. I will let you know when I try again since I’m away from my printer at the moment. I’m new to voron so still trying to learn more about my printer!

      @BuildItBasement  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not overly straight-forward. But, once you wrap your mind around what's happening it starts to make more sense, much the same way that Klipper itself takes some time.

      @salvatoremicciche6895 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BuildItBasementYes definitely! I’ve been probably playing with Klipper for about 6 hours so far and I’m getting use to the mechanics of it so far. Just having the issue of actually printing which I hope I can resolve soon.

    Nice! I do something similar already for my print start.
    Stop using Cura - I used to use it, with the voron I switched to Prusa slicer / SuprSlicer.
    Having the thumbnails show up for your objects in Klipper is worth it, but also the slicer is much better, cleaner prints using it, more modern features too.
    I have SNS tap sat on my desk, need to install it.

      I like the thumbs - Cura just gives me a base that relates to a lot of users. I'm interested, what do you do for your print start?
