  • How to professionally spray paint doors with a Graco 395 airless sprayer including set up of doors from Artisons Painting and Remodeling. I use a Graco Rac x with a 311 tip at the lowest possible pressure before lines or "fingers" on the sides of the spray pattern appear. I am using a Valspar Alkyd modified in water based door enamel paint in a semi-gloss white finish. We are the Top rated Painting company in Illinois for 22years straight and serve Cook, Du Page Counties and the Chicago area. We are fully insured, carry worker's comp and have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. You can use paint sticks, door stands, 1.25" drywall screws, builders paper, plastic and tape. I go over the basic set up and spray techniques for simple DIY to achieve professional results. View more of our work at www.artisonspainting.com or call for a free estimate. Same here... I'm just in the researching phase of buying a an airless sprayer. I'm not sure what to buy, or even how to decide which one. I don't want a cheap one, but I also don't want to break the bank. I'm not a professional painter and I probably will only use it infrequently. But What I when I do use it, it will be for things I want to look great when the project is done. Like kitchen cabinets for example. I want them to look professionally done.

    Great video, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise with all of us. I own and operate a small painting company in Calgary Canada 🇨🇦.
    I will like to share a trick with you once spraying doors. I do it exactly the same way with the only difference that I use a heavy card board in top of the doors to prevent overspray on the ceilings.
    Stay blessed amigo!

    • @artisonspaintingremodeling

      Great idea. Sometimes I use a swivel holder that mounts to an extension pole and you can by cardboard inserts. Once the cardboard gets trashed you can swap it out fast. We were painting the ceiling and walls in here so I wasn't concerned but great idea. Thanks for the encouragement and god bless you and your painting company. It's always great to share info and better each other, after all we are all brothers and sisters.

    Really great video...I run a painting and decorating business in the UK and airless spraying is part of the setup, mainly used on new build work and commercial refurbs..a Graco 495 and we tend to follow the American style of doors & trim, then walls and lastly ceilings, all water-based products when spraying..although sometimes we will leave all the pre-primed doors until everything else is fully completed, then mask a whole room off (or two) and then airless spray 2 coats of water based satin or gloss to all the doors..very quick and a great finish....I have watched lots of airless spray painting videos on youtube, connected with the building industry obviously, and I have to say yours is easily the best!...Very well explained, concise and to the point and for the first time in ages, a guy that can actually spray properly (walk the walk), professional and the proper technique and execution...a great job done sir! and very good advice given and your technique was so good, it was a pleasure to watch...believe me, I have seen many videos on this subject on youtube, that have been painful to watch, performed by people who simply haven't got a clue..sometimes I just can't believe what I'm witnessing.....anyway, you did a really professional job and the doors had a great finish with the first coat...such a refreshing change to see someone do a proper spray job!...I just subscribed

That's how ya do it .... good vid ..... can't tell you how many videos I've seen where I KNOW those cabinets look like crap "up close at an angle" but the people say how wonderful they are and show a head on shot from a distance ..... Got Airless & HVLP Spray units .For finish I prefer HVLP unit for Undercoat will use Airless.Takes seconds do a door it's setting up takes time If possible hang doors Use couple eye loops ,books & length chain For best finish but need space lay doors flat ,spray edges (inc top & bottom forms seal protect from water)

    • @artisonspaintingremodeling
      @artisonspaintingremodeling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can also stack the doors on their sides up against each other to spray the tops in the bottoms and 1 shot first. In all the years I've been painting I'm never once had an issue with doors warping without having a tops and bottoms painted. This is the fastest method and most efficient to do a high number of doors. If you have the Room just do the accordion method

  • @macbook12345
    @macbook12345 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Best to use the stack racks they avoid runs and the possibility of hitting the ceiling. Then you have to flip the doors so more hand contact. the Stack racks work well well.

    • @artisonspaintingremodeling
      @artisonspaintingremodeling  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When we flip the doors we only touch the 5 gallon stick without touching the doors. Does the rack mar the door surface being it is still curing, I would imagine spraying 2 coats wouldn't allow the doors to be done in a day. We never have sag or run issues.

      Go for it ...the key to all this is the prep the spraying is the easy part ...what he failed to mention a d what's a crucial point to any good sprayer is the speed of your passes and also another crucial factor is the product your going to use , some of them finished are not suitable for spraying so always make sure to ask at your supplier of paint,is this product suitable for spray finishing with an airless type sprayer ! Also sometimes there is a requirement to thin your paint slightly so it passes through the machine easier . But what they never tell you is when you use a solvent to thin your paint like white spirit , it actually sets the dry time off way quicker , which in itself can be a great thing, the downfall to this it effect the overall look or finish of the paint so it can reduces the sheen slightly , a pro would notice that the normal Joe may not so if it's a high gloss finish your after I suggest using an additive instead of the spirit like using owatrol oil , you will maintain that glassy look using that , and the same with the softer looks like satin or eggshell

    Awesome nice coatings. Do you sand between coats always or is there a way to get a second coat timed to chemically bond to the first. You know like a lacquer.

      No need to sand, with water based coatings there is no need to sand between coats.

    Hello, thanks for the very clear and straightforward video. I have a Wagner P130 with a 515 tip which I have used to paint ceilings and walls. Would this setup work for interior doors? I am a DIYer.

      515 would work but you risk putting on too thick a coat unless you move very fast. Better to use a small tip size such as the 411 he used. It will take just a bit longer per door but much easier to do a good job because you can go a bit slower. A 309 tip is another option. If it is available for your sprayer, a FineFinsh tip would an even nicer finish. Good luck.

    I think a better option for turning the pressure down to reduce overspray or maybe you are concerned about runs would be to use a smaller tip. A smaller tip with the pressure turned all the way up is what should be used. It works every time for me.

      Yup a 310

      If you did that with my airless sprayer it would knock the door down... For jobs like that I really have to turn the machine right down but use a smaller tip and orpheus size too
