This is awesome! As someone who spent many of my younger years playing this and loving every moment, just as Paupers said below, this was an irreplaceable experience. So many memories that I can recall today. No other game since then has created such memories. Velious was one of, if not, my favorite expansion! Loved spending countless hours in Kael Drakkel. Man these were the times.
The algo just recommended this video and I'm looking forward to watching your past videos as well! EQ was a huge part of my younger days and while I don't play nowadays it will always hold a special place in my heart. This video reminded me of when I started a new toon and a GM was camping in the starting area. They asked me if I wanted to hear a story, and I happily sat down as they typed out a decently sized lore accurate tale. Absolutely irreplaceable experience. Thanks for putting your time into this series and can't wait for more!
Dang, just saw this. Dunno why my alerts didn't go off or maybe I just missed it. Anyway, great work. I love listening to these EQ lores and such while doing other things, but when I am watching, I see the effort it took to get the scenes to go with the script. Keep it up! 👍
Oooh, very exciting! :D So glad to find a new EQ lore channel! The lore for EQ is so good and I'm happy to see someone covering it and doing it justice.
Your video showed up when I was looking for a playlist of EQ music to listen to. There's not many EQ lore videos out there, so I was excited to see this, and I look forward to many more!
Awesome video! Something I found when I was digging through NPC dialogue on EQ's live servers, was that Zlandicar claims he came up with the idea for the necropolis and the ritual for old dragons to go there to die, so that he could feed on their corpses. This is from the log file : [Mon Aug 29 10:40:56 2022] You say, 'claws of veeshan?' [Mon Aug 29 10:40:56 2022] Zlandicar says, 'The Claws of Veeshan? They are delicious! They still do not know that it was MY idea to create the Necropolis, to insure a steady supply of food. They are bound by tradition, and tradition says that all dragons should come here to die. Fools, of course, but who am I to complain?'
Fond memories of losing a group members corpse in crystal caverns. Took so long to get back. Thankfully there was a brave bearded dwarf woman than rescued us.
Would be awesome if they actually played out some of this lore in game like flashbacks or something. Even further, let players controls a major character from Norrath history through a major event/battle. This would create a lasting memory and help with overall immersion.
My favorite I remember making my way threw forgot name a icy dungeon scary was no guides like now to get to tov and racing other guilds to kill certain bosses. I was a dirge so I got the joy of pulling dragons to my guild waiting to kill it.
I don't believe so. I don't think it would be a fair fight. Veeshan is large enough to leave claw marks the size of the continent of Velious and is more powerful than any of the in-game gods. That would definitely be a sight to see, tho!
Up to the current state of the game - no. Spoilers below: Players however can observe her corpse floating in the Void amidst the remnants of shattered palnet in the doomed timeline of Norrath in the Seeds of Destruction expansion. That expansion has players visit the doomed timeline and work together with Zebuxoruk and his agents to avert the end of the world in the future as well as finding out the forces tampering with the timeline to bring it.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. (Psalms 51:1-4)
I kinda feel like Nagafen and Vox don't even have much lore without them being the elemental dragons at play. Because it would actually make sense that they were banished to the main continent as punishment to keep some sort of presence of the CoV near the the other races and if not keep them in check, at least keep notice. But, instead, it's just two nameless elemental dragons that we never heard of before that were immediately killed for banging. I'm not sure exactly when McQuaid was pushed out of Verant, but not tying the CoV back to the two original EQ dragons seems like a missed opportunity. Or rather someone changed the script at the last minute, for some reason. It still remains somewhat of a mystery why they are actually there. The only other reason I can think of is both zones have a lot of Rallos Zek created races in and around them and maybe the Rathe just pushed some responsibility of breaking up the goblin and giant races into even more factions onto those two dragons. There was a shit ton of beta lore they just completely wasted with Laurion's Song, so it makes it even harder to dig up the correct lore from original EQ.

How did I miss this? An absolutely fantastic video! I didn’t explore Velious much back in the day, and have loved getting to do so now on Teek!
We need all the Norrath lore we can get. Keep it up!
@@joelfernandez536 thanks, there are more on the way

This is awesome, Sharing it on guild discord
There is still some small noise from your microphone. But still a lot of improvements from previous videos. Very nice video!
Ah yes, the Scars of Veliose.
@@hom-sha-bom Ya, juat wait until I make a video about the Shadows of Luclin (Loose lynn)
Any insight on why the Odus docks have a sign that claims there is passage to Velious there?
Im not sure, they probably had plans to put a boat from Odus to Velious then abandoned those plans.
what a chilling tale
