Thanks for sharing those links, I’d never heard of self-adhesive felt and was wondering how you got the felt to stay in place. Also, I’m impressed at your convenience in disassembling the dashboard.
I think you might have just saved my sanity! I have a regular w204 as my daily which I’ve modded with bilstein coilovers, engine tune, exhaust and the like. Ive found that after a few years with the upgraded suspension, it has developed some rattles from the dash and the trim part of the door cards area. I’m definitely gonna try this on my car. Thank you 🙏
4:54 you take them out by pressing on them with 2 or 3 fingers and sliding it towards the screen (inwards sort to say?)... That way they don't go out flying
Hi mate, can’t say I do to be honest, sometimes a door card may squeak but it doesn’t really last. E63 has different doors and seatbelt designs though? So wouldn’t be the same as mine!
Hey there, amazing job. I own a w204 myself and eventhough it's not a 63 it still rattles and creaks but not from the dashboard but form the door pannels, especially the handle bit where your leg naturally rest. Do someone think I can apply this fix to my problem? However I am not sure I can disassembly the handle itself from the rest of the pannel so I'm bit baffled.
And i've been worried about a new Mazda 3 that i've been reading about rattling. Seems all new cars, no matter how expensive, rattle these days.. time to make my purchase, i guess..
Seems actually realy annoying! If i had a C63 i guess i woudln't have minded if someone told me about that issue before buying. But after noticing it, i guess i wouldnt get it out of my head ever again, so its nice you could fix yours! Btw, an off topic question: what watch are you wearing in the video? Looks good!
Weirdly it wasn’t there on the test drive! It seems affected by temperature, so I’m guessing if it did persist, it should of quietened down over winter. No problem, Seiko 5, mechanical field watch, mines the SNK805, so the military inspired one! Love it.
@@CarThought Sounds quite strange, gld its solved! On my first car (early Golf Mk. 4) on of the first things i did was changing the radio unit since i wasn't listening to much tapes but wanted to connect my phone via usb etc. on longer drives. Worked perfectly fine most of the year but on some very cold days the "radio face unit" just fell off when closing the door or driving over a bumb. After a few km when everything was warming up the problem disapperaed. Thanks for the info about the watch! Might get one as well!
Hey, any updates with the trim rattle ? I will try to do the same thing but i think i need to upgrade my multimedia if i go that far by removing all that trim pieces :D
Now that one is sorted, I can hear more.. there’s one at the back too and I’m sure there’s one somewhere else in the dash! It’s probably a few hours of work and it would be a perfect time to swap out the infotainment 👌
Is this something you would try on your car?
Only if I can borrow Dave’s trim removal tools 😝
My rattle comes from the top of dashboard where it meets the windshield
Once I get a relatively free weekend I’ll do it
@@yazzan.i Bought the trim tools, gonna do this week for sure
Glad you cured your rattle. I like the way your not afraid to take your car to bits. I've got a few rattles I need to investigate.
It’s just bolts and clips at the end of the day 😊

"Anger does not help you when trying to open these shrink wrap packets." Truer words have never been said! 😂
If I tried to do with on my 1998 MR2, I whole car would be made of felt and it would still rattle! Great video, enjoying the C63 content!
I’m glad, I thought it was just a German thing!

Great video! just used this to sort my dashboard rattle out that was driving me mad! wasn't going to attempt taking it apart until I seen this 👍👍👍👍

Nice work - I think you may have out tooled Dave with that fresh set of trim tools.
Thanks, my C63 also rattles really badly especially the central module and the cover piece at 3:48
Dude. Do u experience any side door panel or seat belt rattles? My e63s right now suffer from that, looking forward a video!

I have that on c63 did you manage to fix ?
My W205 C63s has a very similar rattle, it’s so infuriating.
Great work
What is the thickness of the felt tape, Just any idea
Can you fix the rattle in my 2017 c class c200 coupe please. It’s so annoying

Holy shit 😳 I thought my BMW M4 was bad 😱
My MX5 ND has a rattle… maybe I should bite the bullet and take it apart!
It’s only nuts and bolts ✌️
Drat. I bent one of the clip...

Mate, let’s talk about the socks ??
The odd ones? I have another pair exactly like them somewhere!
You got OCD.. focus on the sound of car
Unfortunately car sounds are more often a cause for anxiety disorder rather than a cure, as you can see from the video 😂
I do, but I drive a C200/250 with stock exhaust so no noise at all... I need me a silent ride lmao
