Unfortunately, the animations in SQUAD that show your character holding their weapon while within the vehicle are based on the characters class, not situation. The Russian marksman always has the barrel down, while most infantry holds their barrel up (usually with their hands over the muzzle pointed directly at their chin, for some reason.)
I really wish he would've demonstrated the rpg-7v2's attention to detail. The reticle system is realistically implemented and has different ranging marks for the HEAT and Frag rounds as well as the newer and much heavier tandem warhead with its much more severe drop trajectory and limited range as a result.

Alyx 1911+Combine Tech: Okay.....The pistol is now a machine pistol with hologram display sight instead of conventional red dot optic. It also got some sort of ammo reservoir and it reload automatically which is quiet impress. Overall, it's good but a little overengineering and it will cost a lot of money for this pistol. Shotgun+Combine Tech: The weapons look so compact ideal for personal defense weapons. Its got a folding stock remind me of VZ61 Skorpion. The way this thing reload is open like top break and insert each shotgun shell into the tube magazine. Then you close it, rack it and its ready to fire. It got the same hologram display sight like the pistol instead of conventional optic sight. What surprise me the most is autoloader. Those mechanical arms will grab each shell reload your shotgun automatically. Also, why would you need a grenade launcher for shotgun? Shouldn't we have that for assault rifle instead? Pulse SMG+Combine Tech This is probably the first compact size energy weapons used by the Combine. When the player reload the magazine. I thought you gonna insert the whole magazine into the gun. Instead, you just insert that small tiny energy cell and depose the empty magazine which is kind of waste resources if you ask me.

yeah slapping your weapon to clear it helps... far cry is so mediocre, in my mind its a game you give to someone who has never played a fps game before... its too cinematic and not in a good way, everything just seems to done because it looks cool. while the core aspects of the game are left alone, which in my opinion would have to the horrible AI, they are blind, simplistic with no group cohesion, they just see enemy shoot a few rounds and hide behind cover. even old games like hl1 and 2 have more interesting enemies, they implement bounding, aggressive flanking and entering and will use grenades to flush an enemy out of cover...
6:57 Wow, look at how the bullets are actually coming from below the scopeand hitting the wall, as opposed to the scope being "in the barrel" so to speak. It's those little things thst make it for me.
Yes, and projectiles are actually rendered into the game with proper range drop and properly sync to sound. So your fireteam buddy drops dead beside you and then only second or so later do you hear the distinct Timberwolf boom being fired from couple of hundred meters away.
@@hvr1874 I wonder how realistic the terminal ballistics are, like how bullets react to concrete walls, or different level armor plates, ricochets, and of course how vehicle and tank armor works... Hopefully it isn't as bad as War Thunder's system right now.

I was a minimi gunner in iraq its perfectly fine to shoot form the shoulder not the preferred method as soon as you can't get in a stable fire position then bipod is deployed and the fun begins , however i done contact drills over and over again doing pair fire and movement with the gun basically using it like a full auto rifle. When i was on patrol i used to have a 50 round pouch on my minimi so it was easier to fire form the shoulder in the initial contact if need be , the rest of my rounds where in 100 round pouches and i also had a 200 round box carried 800 rounds all in all. The helicopter thing is correct yes you never put your muzzle in the dirt however a chopper is different you keep the muzzle facing down , just in case there is a ND so the rota or engine dont gets hit. When i was infantry i had been in many heli on op in ireland and iraq and always told to keep the muzzle facing down for that reason .
Ooh thinking about really detailed and weighty reload animations I'd love to get Johnathan to look at the guns in the original Killzone on PS2. They had some incredible animations and weight to them, and I'd love to see what he thinks of some of the wackier aspects of the weapon design, like the Helghast having a bullpup drum magazine in their assault rifle!
18:30 So the rocket truck originally in game had the driver blindly adjust it and he needed bystanders to eyeball the angle and direction, they added in the camera angle because too many people complained about this.
Around 2:30, he might be checking under the feed tray, but he's not pulling back the breach block to actually check the chamber. Plus during combat you wouldn't want to check the breech cause under fire the chamber can be hot enough to set off rounds. So you want the sweep the feed tray of brass and link, put the new belt in and close the lid as efficiently as possible.
He should definitely react to Arma 3 weapons, especially considering the futuristic setting whilst still having iconic weapons (every weapon and vehicle is heavily inspired by real weapon except the MX serie of rifles for it was designed by Cmmg specifically for Arma 3)!
I have to wonder how John would react to games that REALLY make you count your bullets because there’s a few games that will punish you for reloading every time you shoot one bullet.
Would love to see him reacting to the good ol original doom guns just for fun. With the steel panther shirt and his knowlege of the good old games I bet he has something to say about those 2d sprites and low frame animations. IRL, to fire RPG-26 you must remove the safety pin FIRST, and THEN pop-up the rear sight, which is also cocking the fire mechanism. Squad devs take this mistake from their own Project Reality mod for BF2.

The Russian marksman always has the barrel down, while most infantry holds their barrel up (usually with their hands over the muzzle pointed directly at their chin, for some reason.)
Now that he's done Squad he pretty much has to do Post Scriptum and Beyond the Wire. It's the law.
Exactly, by law, he has to do it.

Most definitely!
Beyond the wire he’s done enough ww2 guns
@@charliehoran3680 Beyond the Wire is a WW1 Shooter
I really wish he would've demonstrated the rpg-7v2's attention to detail. The reticle system is realistically implemented and has different ranging marks for the HEAT and Frag rounds as well as the newer and much heavier tandem warhead with its much more severe drop trajectory and limited range as a result.

Originally aiming was an issue. You had to aim while in the passenger seat... Meaning you didn't even see where the thing was tilted at or know where it was pointing. People complained so the devs changed it to that camera angle.

Squad has the best sound design I've ever heard in a video game
Check out Post Scriptum as well; the authenticity of the sound design and the visuals is really immersive there.
Tarkov
Squad might sound great, but its actually broken as hell. There's only 3 sound files per gunshot, so if the sound file changes while youre walking up to someone shooting you not only know the direction they're in but the exact distance you are from them as well. Not even counting the lack of any vertical audio clues whatsoever, the sound engine needs a lot of work

Pretty much common sense in fact !
Heli's engines are above head and boat dont do well with a hole in their hull ! (in case of accidental of negligent discharge)

HL Alyx:
This is what he would say about the weapons.
I hope in the future we have the technology like Combine Fabricator that allow the user to modified and customize their own guns into any configuration that they want.
Alyx 1911+Combine Tech:
Okay.....The pistol is now a machine pistol with hologram display sight instead of conventional red dot optic. It also got some sort of ammo reservoir and it reload automatically which is quiet impress. Overall, it's good but a little overengineering and it will cost a lot of money for this pistol.
Shotgun+Combine Tech:
The weapons look so compact ideal for personal defense weapons.
Pulse SMG+Combine Tech
This is probably the first compact size energy weapons used by the Combine. When the player reload the magazine. I thought you gonna insert the whole magazine into the gun. Instead, you just insert that small tiny energy cell and depose the empty magazine which is kind of waste resources if you ask me.

The rocket pod on the pickup view is a gameplay concession. It's just to make it playable not really realistic at all.

7:45 the move he made i think that it save is life because yes Jonathan was asking this a the start of the video there is in fact a "suppression" effect it blur you view and wen you aim wile supressed your gun move a lot so i think that it save is because the enemy could not aim anymore

the best part of any mil-sim game is people goofing off when they shouldn't be
Most realistic part
On the point of stoppages like he mentioned, I think far cry 2 would be a great one to check out
yeah slapping your weapon to clear it helps... far cry is so mediocre, in my mind its a game you give to someone who has never played a fps game before... its too cinematic and not in a good way, everything just seems to done because it looks cool. while the core aspects of the game are left alone, which in my opinion would have to the horrible AI, they are blind, simplistic with no group cohesion, they just see enemy shoot a few rounds and hide behind cover. even old games like hl1 and 2 have more interesting enemies, they implement bounding, aggressive flanking and entering and will use grenades to flush an enemy out of cover...
Mitri I never said it was realistic, just would make a good video, didn’t need an essay on AI and inaccuracies.

Wow, look at how the bullets are actually coming from below the scopeand hitting the wall, as opposed to the scope being "in the barrel" so to speak.
@@goosegg4653 the armor system is definitely much more simplistic, plates don't have a numeric effective thickness, instead they are one of several preset thicknesses, and plates don't have a CE and KE effective thickness

We didn't have the sharp shooter when i was British infantry , we had the mighty L86 crow canon ( LSW ) god i hated that weapon lol love the SA80 though still enjoy shooting that I'm still serving just not infantry anymore.
He didn't confirm whether or not that was a pistol and if "pew" is an accurate description of how it goes

So the rocket truck originally in game had the driver blindly adjust it and he needed bystanders to eyeball the angle and direction, they added in the camera angle because too many people complained about this.

IRL, to fire RPG-26 you must remove the safety pin FIRST, and THEN pop-up the rear sight, which is also cocking the fire mechanism. Squad devs take this mistake from their own Project Reality mod for BF2.
