- In this video, Hari suggests how to plant trees in the Miyawaki method of afforestation. He also suggests that the saplings from nurseries should be re-potted into a mixture (Potting Mixture) after discarding the soil sticking to the roots.
How to make Potting Mixture?
It is made of cocopeat, cow- dung, rice husk, and soil and is taken in equal proportions (1:1:1:1).

വെറും പാഴ്ച്ചെടികൾ നട്ടുവളർത്താതെ വല്ല പ്ലാവോ, മാവോ, പുളിയോ പേരയോ അങ്ങനെ ഉപകാരപ്രദമായ വല്ല വൃക്ഷങ്ങളൊക്കെ നടു്,. എന്റെ വീടിന് പുറകിലെ 5 സെന്റ് ഭൂമിയിൽ 4 ജാതി, 3 തെങ്ങ്, 1 കശുമാവ്, 2 മാവിൻതൈ, 1 ആത്തച്ചക്ക, 2 വലിയ പ്ലാവ് 8 പ്ലാവിൻതൈകൾ, 1 അടക്കാ മരം, I പേരാ തൈ, 70-80 കട കുരുമുളക്,, 6 കാന്താരിമുളക്, 4 ചേന മുളക്.. ഇത്രയുമുണ്ട്. വേനൽക്കാലത്തും പരിപാലിക്കുന്നു.

Can i grow coconut tree by miyawaki method?
In the Miyawaki model of afforestation, only trees native to an area is planted.There is a debate on whether Coconut trees belong to native or invasive species as it is not found in the Western Ghats area. But invasive species are also being planted for the sake of birds, butterflies and small creatures.
Apart from that , once a forest comes up under the Miyawaki method, it will be difficult to access its interiors to pluck coconuts. Also, the heavy leaves of the coconut trees may fall on neighbouring trees and cause damage to them.
However, there is no harm in planting a few coconut trees on the periphery of the forest area,

ഫലം കുറയുമോ എന്ന് പറയാറായിട്ടില്ല കാരണം നമ്മൾ മിയാവാക്കി വനം ഇപ്പോൾ വച്ചിട്ട് രണ്ടു വർഷമേ ആയിട്ടുള്ളു. ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെട്ട കാര്യം, ഫലം വളരെ നേരത്തെ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നുണ്ട് സാധരണ 5 -6 വർഷം കൊണ്ട് കായ്ക്കുന്നത് 1 or 2 വർഷം കൊണ്ട് കായ്ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. പിന്നെ ചെയ്യാൻ ഒക്കുന്നത് fruit trees ചുറ്റും വെയ്ക്കുക, അപ്പോൾ അതിനു വെയിൽ കിട്ടാതെ വരില്ല. ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു വശത്തു നിന്നും വെയിൽ കിട്ടുമല്ലോ. നടുക്ക് വേറെ മരങ്ങൾ വയ്ക്കുന്ന രീതി പരീക്ഷിക്കാം.
