If your not aware you can stagger the 2 trigger wires on the astra pump by 1 seconds roughly and rather than spooling up over 30 seconds it gets to pressure instantly 👍

Or you could just wire it up like it's used in the astra. One power wire on the battery and the other on the alternator. This means that when the wire that's meant to be used on the alternator gets power, it knows to spool up quickly.
They always say the last 10% takes 90% of the time! You guys are killing it with this car! Such a weapon! I will be curious to see the longevity on that power steering pump in the boot. That's the plan for my project car, EG Sedan b18c2 build. Plan on doing electric power steering and electric air conditioning. Reasons to make room in engine bay, for turbo setup and also eliminate the parasitic effect from the pulleys.
When you got can bus aboard you may also experiment with vw and audi racks and pumps…. I suppose you get the closest rack and fix it with its hardware support…will require can sniffing from similar to donor car for the can addresses and the functions. Overall much well balanced system and wow what a pleasure to drive around turning the wheel. Plus nissan racks and not leaking or needing overhaul, never heard of it.
Many drifters have found having the PS pump in the boot to be an issue with it not keeping up. having 2 of them in the boot seems to have solved it for some, moving it forwards to the engine bay have solved it for others. But drifting seems to be really hard on power steering.
Andrew can you do a quick recording of the car on with pump active. Just want to hear it while boot is closed. Main complain is that the astra pumps are extremely noisy.

Theres a guy in qld that does it. But it's definitely not cheap, I think last time I spoke with him it was $2500 just for the motor and then you need other things to go with it and I worked it out to be near 4-5k all in

Even on heavy track days on 500hp GTRs, Power steering gets hot, starts making weird noises and all sorts. I'd mount an electric one up front if I had funds for one (seeing as i dont have a hectic build like yours XD). Maybe if my powersteering fails ill get one.

Not only has this lost me the 300 dollar discount it is now almost impossible to find stock of the discontinued Elite 550/1000. Now ECU ownership is again out of my reach. Disgraceful experience with your major sponsor.

ive always heard you "should" run restrictors in the power steering high pressure lines when you run those electric pumps is that actually true? thats one thing that has held me back from doing that conversion to my buzz box. Apart from that your GTR is coming along beautifully, Keep it up man!!
@@Green_Streets Do you have an IC7? because the IC7 doesn't care what ECU you have, the fuel level sender is wired directly into the dash. So yes, a working fuel level sender, wired into the IC7 will give you a working fuel gauge. I just wired my fuel level sender to my IC7, so yeah I can confirm that from experience, that it works fine.
@@JC-vc7tf ah, must be a feature of the IC7 has included, Andrew says he had to add hardware, so made me wonder what. I have a C127 Motec dash and it’s not as simple and setting empty and full voltages and done, they need some type of signal buffer for fuel slosh, and the Haltec may have that built into the dash already.
What power steering fluid are people running with these Astra pumps? They are supposed to use some green hydraulic CHF fluid rather than the more normal ATF, I wondered if they live ok if you run them on ATF.

Just a modern bosch knock sensors, they're "wideband" in comparison to OEM stuff

@@b3nny90 Odd, there are kits here in the US for cars like miatas that are around 900 bucks for everything and they bolt right in.
Here side of world many rallycars use Opel Corsa B or C whole steering shaft. Its easy to adjust power steering and super cheap.

Probably because the pump is right next to the rack so it doesn't have to push fluid through meters of lines etc before it gets to the right settings.

We have a cherry sensor on the tailshaft
You can also use the wheel speed sensor. My tuner from Canada for mine that way but I'm running Aims MXS 1.2 Strada

I have it on EP3 Honda with DC5 steering and as DC rack is much more expensive then Astra pump I use Honda OE fluid :)

No. none at all. It’s not a circuit car so not an issue. We plan to ceramic coat it but waiting until the combination was finalised after testing
