- In this video, I will show you how speed paint Ultramarines - the poster boys of the 41st Millennium! I'll show you how to get a tabletop standard really quickly, and then also show you how to take this up a notch for tabletop+
This process can also be used on tanks - which is great when building out a whole army!

Finally someone made a good and fast video on ultramarines. Thank you will totally use this for my models.
Glad you found it useful! Tell everyone!
“Commit immediate heresy.” Lol. This is a nice guide for my crimson fists, thx!
I really like the simplicity and detail you dont need weeks to make good figures the shadows and edging do alot of justice
Cheers
This is almost exactly how I was imagining painting. Good video
It blows my mind that black legion goes over so well
Yeah works great
Wonderful guide! Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Super helpful guide. Thank you! Quick question: it might be the lighting, but the shoulder pad seemed to get glossy around 3:46 (whereas it looked more matte at 3:40). Did you do anything special to achieve that look?
It did indeed - that was gloss varnish I put down in order to apply a decal - when the decal was dry I put a matte varnish over it - I use Vallejo Mecha varnish
@@ThePaintingCoach thank you!
Some question to ask
Do you base a layer of macragge blue paint after done priming?
And after the space marine painted, does it has a large contrast between the light blue surface and the black shadow area? If it has a large contrast, what would you suggest to build the transaction
No once it's sprayed that's it. Once the spray goes down you have a subtle transition so no need for any more work
Really good quick method - if you was to do 4th company what colours would you use for the shoulders?
Cheers - hmm depends how bright you want them - a mix of caliban green and warp lightning for the base and warp lightning for a light
ULTRASMURFS!!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Do you find it necessary to do the black primer before the macragge blue spray?
You don't have to but I find it gives a better finish
Love this paint scheme! Getting ready for 10th!!
Cool!
@@ThePaintingCoach the zenithal blue spray over black is a no brainer. Why didn’t I think of that?!? lol
Was the macragge blue done with an airbrush or a spray can?
Spray can 👍🏻
I love these short how to videos to get troopers painted up. You have never really done a “pink” themed video - how about some Emperor’s Children? They get no love 🥲
I was holding out for when they get new models - might be a while though - they are on the list :)
Do you know of any contrast paint-like colors to get a good pink?
Hmmm not teally tried - you could try mixing white with baal red, or thinning volupous pink down
Are you actually going to go back to doing painting guides for individual models? I used to watch a lot of your stuff and you haven’t done any of the more recent models. Are you not doing those types of tutorials anymore?
Hi Daniel - yes I will - soon - although it does depend on releases etc. I've got my eye on the new space hulk kill team box for example - right now I'm trying to strike a balance that helps my channel grow so that I can actually afford to spend more time creating content - and individual tutorials aren't always the best for that. Thanks for the support - I'll have something for your tastes soon enough!
hey just wonder did you spray it black first then spray blue? or did you just spray blue?
Black then blue
@@ThePaintingCoach Awesome.
DO you think Celestium blue is better than Leviadon blue for the recess shading?
Maybe - it will be darker and look more stark
@@ThePaintingCoach interesting- thanks! I thought Leviadon would be darker so I'll have to check Celestium out!
I know this is older video so I don’t expect to get a reply from you Coach but, why do the shoulder guards look shinier/wet at 3:50 compared to 3:39?
I do my best to reply to all comments :)
By 3:50 I've added some gloss varnish to the pad, ready for transfers. Once that is all done I add matt varnish on top
I'm hoping to get this good lol but my macrage blue never turns out this color , it's like a duller version
Are you using the spray or the pot version? I find it always looks a nit washed out until the mini has all the other colours on it
Can you do a minotaurs chapter speed painting guide?
I'll have to put it on a list
I need around 20min only for building up my basecoat xD
Paint the base's rim black... Always.
Just painting the gold trims takes me an hour per figure...😅
Not sute that it is possible to paint like this in 20 min)
