This is good info, Thanks a lot. My golf4, 1.4 has a clutch that is very stiff. It doesnt work even if I push it all the way down (it s very hard). I can start the car in 1. gear, Clutch does not slip. Any idea what may be the cause?

A have a thin pipe going from slave cylinder to the brake vaccuum unit. Could this be the fault?

Sounds like something Is siezed. Maybe the clutch fork bearing assembly.

That’s very clear explanation! Could you advise what could damage the concentric slave cylinder inside the box? I’ve had two new LUK damaged in around 4k miles. All kit fitted was new including the flywheel. Really worried could happen again. I use a different brand now. Pedal is fine, could the master cylinder damage the CSC? No leaking whatsoever…Thank you!!!

Then only think I can think that would cause this is a hydraulic pipe, like a brake flexi, has collapsed internally allowing fluid under pressure, but not flowing back efficiently. Then when pressed again introduces more fluid (too much) causing the slave to burst 💥. Just an idea but not conclusive.

Flush the fluid and see if it improves.
