Done! Thanks! I am new to crochet! Taught myself with help from TH-cam 😂 about a week ago! I’m hooked 😉 (pun intended) I have done a hat, this washcloth, mitts and now working on a blanket! You are a lovely teacher!!! Many thanks 😊
Your videos are wonderful! I have your channel saved and use your tutorials almost exclusively, as they are so easy to follow and understand. I learned to crochet as a child and am back at it thanks to you!
Thank you!!! Ive made two of your projects now and these tutorials are easy to follow, great shots of the hook and movements, no filler. Im so happy thank you for all your help❤❤❤
I fancy making table mats using this nice, dense stitch. I love working with your free written pattern while watching the video, for me it’s taking the fear out of reading patterns. Thanks Sarah Jayne xx
I am very new to crocheting, this is my second project of yours :) Your videos are so easy to understand and follow, I cannot read patterns yet but love listening and watching you! Thank you from Canada!
Thank you for your videos. I'm new to crochet and have had a hard time learning. Found your channel and you have taught me how to finally do it. Your pace is perfect and explanations are easy to understand. Please keep making videos. I cant wait to make other things in the near future!
Thank you so much for this. You are an excellent instructor. You go nice and slow for people learning (like me) and you explain things very clearly. I have made several of these for myself and my daughter. We use them as washcloths and dish scrubbies. I love the stitch, it is so beautiful!! I wish I could show you a picture. I am so proud of myself haha
I love it. At the end of the border stitching I think I would crochet a little chain loop to hang in the shower. I definitely will be making some of these. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have been crochetting for just over a month and though it was easy to follow I found working with cotton yarn a new experience so if anyone else is like me its not quite as easy as it looks and might present a challenge
You are the best! I love your videos. You describe everything in very simple terms and emphasise every stitch, so I am never left thinking - what do I do now! I have completed a large granny square blanket and have orders from my kids for 2 more. I have also made numerous knitted washcloths, but having watched this video I can't wait to start on these crocheted ones. So pretty and so useful.
Wonderful pattern Sarah-Jayne! I love making washcloths! It is a great way to learn new Stitches in both crochet and knitting. I will make this one next. I love the stitch! It’s so pretty and easy. I always love working on them while in the car which we are often in for work. This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. And yes, perfect for gifts as well!
Very pretty stitch. I have some lovely coloured DK cottons, I will double strand it & make one, to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing, & take care. 💖🙂🐶
So good! I've learned crochet from you, so now I don't know the Danish terminology :0) Have completed 3 ganny square blankets using your tutorials. So grateful!!!
Omg... thank you so much for this tutorial! 👍♥️ It really turned out quite lovely. The stitches are very easy AND the edges look AMAZING! 😍 I wrote the instructions down in my journal in US terms so I can make some place mats and napkin rings using this stitch. The only limitations to making things with this stitch are a person's imagination!😊
Love this stitch and color!! I always have cotton yarn in my bag when out and about to whip up a wash cloth. Someone is always asking me for one and I'm happy to give them one :)
Stunningly beautiful Sarah Jayne. I haven't made a wash cloth in a few years but i'm definitely going to make this one. Thanks for sharing and your time.👍👍😍❤
I just got your crochet society box with the king cole cotton. Going to use that cotton to make lots of these for my grandma's rehabilitation center for their bingo prizes 😍
Love the tutorial! I want to make a bunch of these for presents, so I'm wondering how much yarn each one uses so I know how much to buy. Looking forward to making some!
While you need some texture in a facecloth, what smoother tight stitch could I use for someone with delicate skin? I assume a cotton would be ideal but maybe going down to DK weight would be better for soft skin???
I really like this stitch but finding it almost impossible the get the hook through that middle stitch of the three together. I know you say it will be more difficult but I just can’t do it! Am I doing something wrong? I am very much a beginner. Thanks!
Laura guyatt when crocheting tour stitches together, try not to pull too tight on your yarn making the original loop on the hook too tight, this should help when you come to crochet into that stitch on the next row x
Excellent video, super clear, thank you! I'm new to crochet but this (and a session from a very helpful friend!) has helped me to pick it up really quickly. One question though, how do you multiply the pattern up or down to make larger or smaller items? I've got chunky yarn which at 28 stitches makes a massive cloth, but working to 20 or 16 gives me a wiggly edge to the work on either side... Thanks in advance x
You’re welcome 😊 This stitch should work as long as your foundation chain is in multiples of two. You could always work a simple border of double crochets (UK terms) around the edges once finished and this would make it nice and even. Hope this helps.
@@bellacococrochet thank you so much! I haven't got to the end of the vid (still working through my rows) but I'm hoping there's a loop so it can be hung up in the shower? If not, how would you do this? Thank you x

Hi Sarah could you please clarify at the end of each row you say to ch1 before AND after the dc then turn. The written pattern says to just ch1 after the dc?
Hi Lisa, you should chain one after each dc three together, and then end each row with a single dc before chaining one and turning. The written instructions do state to chain one in the starred pattern repeat 😊

Hi Sarah-Jayne, so I've made this but it's smaller as I'm using thinner cotton. I'd just like to ask what stitch increment do I need to make bigger sizes please. Thank you.
Just curious, what are you saying when you're grabbing the free yarn coming off you left index finger. It sounds like "your neighbor" or is it yarn over? I'm sorry your accent is lovely but with my American dialect/ears, I'm confused. Also, what is the proper way to hold the working yarn in your left hand? I do love your video and this is my very first crochet project! I literally have learned to crochet from this ! So many thanks from Milwaukee,Wisconsin!!
You are very welcome, I'm saying yarn over lol. Here is a video which may help you with holding your yarn :- th-cam.com/video/GcOzdAzmtNM/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps :)
If you click on the underlined part on the blog where it tells you all about the yarn it will take you to the love crafts site which is where I got my yarn from :)
As you are making each stitch, pull your crochet hook up slightly which will lengthen the yarn and make it less tight. You could also go up a hook size 😊
I have no clue what I am doing wrong here. I chain 26 as you state and it does not work like yours. I chain 28 as it is written and it still does not work. I really like the pattern and want to work it but it just is not going in my favor. Please help.
Are you making sure to begin your stitch by working into the same stitch that you just finished with? It can be a little confusing but as long as you are chaining 28 and making your stitches in the right places then it should work out 😊
hi there, I just made it with a 42.5g (1.5oz) ball of bernat handicrafter cotton yarn, using a 5mm hook and had plenty left over, not enough for another cloth tho. I did seventeen rows and mine turned out a little rectangular, I probably could've done another couple rows but I didn't bother for the sake of doing it the same as on the video. This was fun to crochet. (I know you asked for her, but I feel like I'm able to give some input from my experience)
My 5 mm clover Armour hook looks bigger than yours. Same color but your hook has a thinner shaft. Are different countries have different size hooks? My washcloth turned into a rectangle, not a square. What is the reason? this is my third one, I am still a beginner. Thanks if someone could answer.
As 5mm is a standard unit of measurement you should find that the hook size matches regardless of whereabouts in the world you are, although they may have different letters or numbers that correspond to them. For your washcloth I would chain more in the beginning and work less rows so that it ends up wider than it is tall 😊
