Bless you for the low volume background music. If the music is loud I usually just skip over a tutorial. Also, you have a pleasant voice. I agree that stitch counts help us newbies.
Once l learned about crocheting wash cloths, I have made a hundred or so. This is the first time I have see this pattern. It is wonderful. I like the look and the texture You gave easy to follow instructions, This will be my new wash cloth for gifts this year. I got tired of making circles in a square cloths. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful pattern.
Just when I thought I had already found my favorite dishcloth pattern, I discover this. Did a swatch and I LOVE IT! Definitely my new favorite AND it’s simple - thank you!
Hands down my favorite crochet washcloth pattern! These are extremely similar to the knit ones! Not a big fan of knitting but preferred knitted washcloths because my crocheted ones where always really stiff and scratchy but these ones are the exact opposite! thank you!
Love this! Im a crocheter that learned to knit just because of the texture knitted washcloths have.... honestly I learned one pattern and nothing else 😂 Now, though, I can put a hook back in my "washrag bag"! ❤️
It’s definitely not unique. It is usually a beginner who does this until they realise it is such a waste of time. The yarn can be just picked up with the hook from the forefinger. No need for that annoying throwing. 🙄
Stitch count per row would help us newbies to understand when/where to stop on each row. I found my rows way off because I was grabbing that last 'hidden' stitch at each end. Thankfully, I recognized what was happening.
@@susieq9849 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18, etc. I go to 40 then start the decrease,s, you should always have an even number of stitches in each row. I love this pattern also! Your soothing voice telling us exactly what to do to create this lovely washcloth! Thank you for all you do! Have a blessed and beautiful day! Happy hooking! 😁✌🏻🙏🏼🇺🇸🧶
I love this pattern when using the Lily Sugar N Cream Scrub Off Yarn, which can be a bit fiddlely if the pattern is too complex. At 8:18 minutes at the first decrease you do not mention the single crochet stitch after the decrease before you turn the work. Going frame by frame I could see you do the SC before turning the corner. I wonder if others got confused there too? Thanks
Love it, thank you for the tutorial . I’m new to crochet and it took me a couple tries to get it right, I kept missing the very last stitch. Love the texture and look 🥰
I love this pattern, but since I didn't want such a big one, I had trouble making a smaller one even. I had to rip it out several times. Never gave up, though. A stitch count is what ended up helping me.
Love it! I used a variegated yarn and it turned out great. It's so much more interesting with the diagonal stripe and seems like it would be great for cleaning dishes or exfoliating skin in the shower. Thank you so much! I just subscribed so I'm looking forward to seeing more from your channel.
This pattern is so easy and beautiful. Thank-you SO much for making this video. I have a crochet washcloth book and the patterns are too complicated to be fun (for me). I love yours.
Thank You so much For This Pattern, I TOTALLY Love This !!!!! Your A Very Good Teacher, Cause I Was Working Right Alone with And Works Up Fast.........THANKS AGAIN From NORTHEAST NEBRASKA
This is the most interesting design/pattern I’ve ever seen!!! Definitely gotta try this & I suppose you can just start decreasing or increase as much as you want based upon the size you want So cool!!! Great color too! Thanks
When u chain 1 at the end of each row, & turn your work, are you going back into the same stitch for increase,s and decreases? I should have an even number of stitches in each row, correct? Not odd number of stitches.
While you need some texture in a facecloth, what smoother tight stitch could I use for someone with delicate skin? I assume a cotton would be ideal but maybe going down to #3 weight would be better for soft skin???
When you go back across the row and get to where you have 2 sc in the last stitch, do you put one in the first then 2 in the 2nd from the row below? Or is that treated like one stitch?
Hi Jenna, I was just wondering if this stitch pattern would work for an acrylic small throw or blanket? Would just continue increasing to the desired length. Maybe do a double or half double crochet stitch. I just love the whole design. Any thoughts?
Yeah it would work. You would have a square blanket if you did an increase of both sides. If you wanted a rectangle, you'd have to figure out the increases. But it would be beautiful. Even just straight, with the ripples would be very pretty on a blanket.
@@TheUpNorthHome Great, will have to work that out. I've already made two dish towels haha. My plan is to gift them to my mother in law for her birthday in a nice little hamper arrangement with lotions, etc. 🙂
Good pattern and explanation for a newbie here. I do have one area of confusion. In creating the border, as you reach the last corner, near where you started, are there not three SC at that corner as done in the other three corners? If so, were they done at the beginning of the border? Or, were they added after the last edge? If so, is the finish stitch part of the corner and therefore there are only 2 SC in the final corner? I'm not sure I'm expressing this well at all. Hopefully my clear confusion or lack of crochet experience gives you enough info you can clarify for how to wrap up my project. Thank you!
Hello, a while later and I am watching your video. The finished product turned out beautiful but my finished product looks more like a Dimond shape and not a square. Do you know what may have went wrong?
I love this pattern, I keep having an issue of it not matching once I start the decrease, I am still doing a chain 1 at the end of every row for decrease turning and working into 1st two stitches from the needle is this right? I have unraveled a million times lol!
Beautiful pattern! Thank you so much. ❤️ And I want to tell you how thrilled and so surprised that you used the words “ lie flat” and “lying flat”. This is the only time I have EVER heard an American using the correct words. Most Americans and now, unfortunately Australians , by copying, are using the words LAY and LAYING. Which are totally incorrect. LAY means to place or put something. LIE in this context means to assume a horizontal or resting position. We LIE down on our bed. Or we LAY a book on a table. Thanks so much for not making me cringe🥴as I do very often with the misuse of the word LAY. 😘
I know this video is very old, but I am fairly new to crocheting. I have started a few blankets over the years and gave up. I am not working on a zig zag style blanket and decided to start washcloths too. Well, I found this video and liked the diagonal idea. I started off too loose and then kept a pretty tight (but even) tension along the cloth. My increases and decreases turned out well. My problem was the border.....it was awful trying to figure out where to place the single crochet. Also, since I started out loose my initial corner was odd and pointy compared to the rest of the corners. I wound up pulling the entire washcloth out and will try again. Any tips for that beginning corner?
So, is your washcloth more diagonal too? From the corner you start, is the angler more or less than 90 degrees? I get over 90 degrees. Can’t figure out what I am doing wrong.
Square isn't quite 🤔 square? Could be you missed an increase or a decrease somewhere along the way. Rectangular shape. If you're familiar with making a C2C blanket, it's the same concept. Once the desired width is attained begin decreasing (sc2tog) at that corner while continuing to increase (grow the length) by placing 2sc in the last stitch at the opposite corner. The same holds true for length. Once you've attained the desired length begin decreasing (sc2tog) at that corner as well. Hope this helps.🤗
How do you get the well, corners on the sides? I get a flat edge for 2 rows despite going increase, decrease, decrease. It looks like \_/ instead of \/. What am I doing wrong?
I am not sure what happened if you followed the directions with a last row of increase, then doing decrease rows. Did you finish the washcloth with a border of sc's, putting 3 sc in each corner stitch and see how it looks at the end? The 3 stitches in the corners will help to define the corner and make sure it doesn't roll-up. I hope that helps.
In this example the maker chose to stop "increasing" at 25 rows which determined the overall size of her square dishcloth. Make your square dishcloth larger or smaller by crocheting more or less "increase" rows. Hope this helps 🤗.
I have attempted this pattern 3 times, it’s very easy to follow, but my washcloth does not come out in a square form, it’s more of a diamond shape- no idea what I’m doing wrong.
What am I doing wrong? It went great until the decreases. Then when I finished it wasn't even a diamond, let alone a square 🤷♀️ I did a 2 in 1 decrease at the beginning and end of every row with all singles in between and a turn at the end without a chain 1.
You did a really good job of explaining how to do this... i have the paper pattern, but im having a hard time figuring it out. you really helped me so thank you! I went to hit thumbs up at the end of the video and accidentally hit the down thumb...I’m really sorry. I don’t see anyway to take it back. I did give a thumbs up, and subscribed to your channel.
I think I know what you mean. If you count each ripple there is two rows. Also familiarize yourself with what a single crochet stitch looks like and you'll have an easier time counting as well. Or you could use a stitch marker to help keep track of rows.
After watching and attempting 4 or 5 different tutorials on this technique - yours is the only one that worked! Thanks!
That's awesome. Glad I could help.

Acrylic is not absorbent like cotton, so if you plan on using as one would use a washcloth, it probably would not be very good.
