Seems tom was in hospital a couple of days before the final ,I didn't even know that but he kept it from the producers, type 1 diabetes, didn't want to tell anyone as he wanted to perform on merit and not have people feeling sorry for him , maybe this effected him ,you would never have thought due to his performance, maybe it was down to the song choice that he never won ,as on AGT got the golden buzzer ,standing ovation, as Simon said if he had sang that song ,sound of silence, he believed he would have won ,

Tom is an amazing singer. I saw TH-cam videos of him from BGT, and was excited to see him cover “The Sound of Silence.” In addition to loving his voice, this is the most beautiful arrangement of this song I’ve ever heard. ❤

The only reason I think he never won AGT ,picked the wrong song ,as he did on BGT ,he should have gone for a American signature song that would have shown his full vocals ,first 2 songs on AGT ,perfect songs ,should have gone for unchanged melody, or bed of roses, it all came down to song choice, if he sung ,sound of silence, for the first time he would have won .
