As a retired funeral director it saddens me to see stories like this where business owner took advantage of family's trust. I will push back on some generalizations in the comments: most funeral directors are honest people, doing a job to help grieving families in their time of need. There are bad apples in most any field and the funeral business is no different. I can surmise from what was said in the video that a new generation of an established family business took over a trusted funeral home then saw where they could embezzle money for their own gain. They used the goodwill of the previous generation to fleece the community. I believe that those who are looking to "cash in" also neglect the services they are obligated to provide, like that letter that was likely meant to be in the casket with Grandma. Every state has it's own laws regarding "pre-need" money (person / family preplans a funeral and pre funds it). Some states allow a funeral home to keep a percentage off the top as part of it's operating cost, for time spent making the arrangements and setting up the financial vehicle to hold the money, other states require 100% of the money to be held in trust until the time of the funeral service. Some states consider pre-need arrangements to be a contract obligating the families to use the specific funeral home at the time of death and others do not. Some states allow the funeral home to manage it's own pre-need money and accounts and others require it be managed by a third party financial institution. I always used a pre-need trust fund company in my state that opened up individual accounts for every arrangement. It was the person's money, in an account with their name and social security number. The money was invested and earned interest, statements were sent to the person every quarter, they had full access to the money at any time if the wanted to withdraw it and I had no access to it. At the time of the funeral the next of kin had to sign a claim form that was sent to the trust fund with my final bill, also signed by the next of kin. I was paid the amount of my bill and anything above that amount was refunded to the next of kin.
I wish I could bought that funeral home and restore it back to its original glory and I will start a donation box to help families who can't afford funeral expenses
I'm curious what parents are letting their little ones run around abandoned funeral homes, let alone funeral homes in general, as they contain chemicals harmful to adults in certain levels of exposure. But I totally get your point for sure.
Why can't all those caskets be donated or sold to another funeral home or donated ? As a carpenter I know it took a lot of thought blood sweat and time to make for what just to be demolished when they take it all down.
It’s hard enough on those who can’t even afford the services of a funeral home and then when they get those who can they want to steal from them that’s totally pathetic!
This waste is absolutely disgusting. So many who can't afford caskets or urns...even the furniture could have been donated. Maybe auction it off and refund the families they stole from.
My family owns and operates a Funeral Home, and I couldn't imagine losing it over greed or personal gain. This looks like it was very nice until i'll assume vandals got a hold to it before it could have been sold, things auctioned, and records moved/disposed. I'll assume once they were kicked out were told that they couldn't touch/get anything.
Omg that tall flower lap 5:16 just brought me memories my aunt had one just like it but different color glass and my uncle has that old radio right underneath it my aunt has passed on now but thank you for bringing back the memories of one of her cherished things

I know that place is full of sad memories but gosh i can imagine how beautiful it was in its prime ❤😢 thanks AC you got a special place in my heart an mind you keep it real an og 💯🤘🤘🤘🙏
It's kind of strange that they wouldn't have had an auction and give the proceeds to the families who were cheated. Lots of valuable antiques. I'm surprised that the good stuff hadn't been stolen. If it was such a lucrative business, why didn't someone else take it over. $650 million embezzled? It doesn't seem that a single funeral home could generate that kind of money. Oh, that radio you saw, it's NOT an antique. It's one of those cheap-o all-in-one stereos that sold for maybe $50. in the 2,ooo's.
Also at 11:07 you will see him discovering even more caskets down a dark hall. There are what appears to be blood droplets on the white wall right of screen and some on the clothing material top of casket. Like a wound in motion flung blood on the wall and then on the casket. Just speculation but strange. He took more notice to the abandoned caskets and condition of the place and as a spectator its easier to see the other things. Awsome video , glad its not a bunch of giggity chad geeking off every creak or mouse movement. Sad to think how many funeral homes are not in it for the service still. There was one in arkansas that was burying right over others and reusing the slab but milling the names off and sanding it up.😂 my dad says fuck it burn me im dead. So guess this type of end isnt for everyone.😅
That is a good reason to cremate--not only is it cost savings, but helps eliminate theft. Pre-planned cremation is the way to go. I would love to buy that old grandfather clock (and chances are it may still work). There are some things in there worth getting. That old radio would also be worth some money. So sad people just abandoned this and did not attempt to sell some of the stuff.
Those beautiful caskets so many of them they would of cost thousands to make and sell and to sit abandoned like that all of those personal death records where is the dignity where is the respect their isn’t any all of those toxic and hazardous items and Equiptment that letter to Grandma should of been put in the casket with her not left laying around it’s just heart breaking those caskets should of been donated to the less fortunate
Did I miss where you mentioned the location? Or is it protected from the public for a reason? Not trying to be rude just genuinely curious as I studied in the field myself. Great video.
We usually don't give the location unless the properties been sold or renovated. This one is still abandoned so we choose to not give the name. People go and destroy these locations once they find them.
Anyone hear the weird reversed whispering once he gets inside the chapel and begins to look up at the hole in the cieling at 2:11 ish. Cant make out whats said but unless he added some wierd back ground sounds for creepiness not sure what that was.

I can’t believe how the inspectors don’t remove those items that can be toxic to the environment in the wrong hands of children. Awesome video

It's not the job of the inspector s to do so.

Liability. Mold etc possible health issues
@@KJJ782right cant have the dead be exposed to mold could make them ill
@@KJJ782 health issues? If you are in one you are deceased...
Yeah it always ticks me off to see perfectly good caskets go to waste when people who can't afford them could use them for their loved ones.
@xyz-123-q1k they would put them on display if the family wanted a wake it would be health issues for anyone who entered the room that casket was in
That "Dear Grandma" letter should have been in someones casket. That's horrible it was left behind.
We agree. Sad to see it laying around like this. Thanks for watching our video Justin.

How does one funeral home steal $650M?

Man cant believe the way that funeral ⚱️ home looked absolutely horrible the condition its in and so terribly sad 😭 thank you for sharing
That apartment upstairs was like a 1960s time capsule. So cool!
Right?! Such a cool time capsule!

These places are always nasty inside. Very creepy too. Thanks for another great video.
This was one of the worst I've explored. Thanks for watching! We greatly appreciate the support.
So sad! Can't believe all those caskests are still there! Really enjoyed your video.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching Carla!
@@abandonedcentral You're welcome!
Awesome video guys! What a nightmare. Can only imagine what went on in that house of horrors. 😢😮
Why would you have to steal money from your business when you live upstairs?????
Is this another all-Black Funeral Home?? Just curious. Most of them are.
Disgusting. Looks like the former owner was a hoarder
By far one of the most disgusting locations I've been in ever. Thanks for watching.
I've seen a lot of these kind of stories on here and it's pretty sad when people get greedy like that

I love the videos especially when you run across older instruments and machines: embalming gravity jars, Turner machine, Duotronic, glass bottles.
We just posted a video from here last week! Such a cool spot. Nice video 💪
Def a cool one. Wish we got to it when the power was still on. Thanks for watching. I'll check out your video!
You would think that all of that would have been auctioned off to repay the people who were ripped off.
How terrible. Why do they leave all this stuff behind?
Order of the law?
It's crazy
Not really sure. I guess they took off with all the money? Crazy how much was left behind here.
Sad and crazy😢 mannnnnn
Wow what a mess I hope someone will answer to this mess

Often adults that go in and trash places!
Looks like they reused caskets for displaying dear Grandma during the funeral, and then probably curb stomped her into an Amazon Prime box.
Many funeral homes rent caskets for viewings and then the bodies are cremated.
Interesting video.
Very nice
Thank you very much!
Disgusting what these places do🤬
$650 million dollars up and missing 😮😮 that is a strange thing to have happen to that money 🤑💰
Pretty crazy story and location! Thanks for all the continued support Robert!

Those caskets are worth a lot of money too, and could have been donated tot he poor if they could not be sold.
Now why would a funeral home wanna steal money from people?
Greed, same reason as most people do. Thanks for watching!

10:00 not a model vault. For a baby.
My dad was a stock broker with many funeral directors as clients. Most were crooked
As we continue to explore more abandoned funeral homes, it seems like most were into some shady business.
Well whoever it was they certainly enjoyed throwing all that stuff about. Atleast theres no decomp bodies. 🙏🙏😒😒🙏🙏
