I have a Hyundai 38kWh Ioniq, which I know you are familiar with. It serves my needs well, not having to publicly charge at all and I love the efficiency. That said, my next EV is definitely going to be a Tesla. You simply can't argue with the supercharger network and these constant updates.
@@benkeen Elon doesn't build the cars, over 100,000 employees worldwide do, and rely on the sales to pay their salaries and cover their benefits. I think of it that way, the benefit of buying these incredibly innovative vehicles from the hard working and incredible engineers and factory employees rather than worrying about if Elon gets more stock value.
@@tonyvelasco5732 I completely agree regarding Tesla as a company. I have a Powerwall 3 bolted to my house. Elon deserves all the stock value earned. What I struggle with is his a$$ kissing behaviour toward Trump and his use of his funds to influence the political landscape not only in the US but also the UK.
The most incredible thing is that even our old 2015 model S got this update. (Granted, the MCU has been upgraded.) I love being able to set the wanted battery level on arrival, search along route, lower sound in reverse (I'm over 40), find parking near destination, showing number of available chargers. Just unbelievably good.
Great video Ian the software on a Tesla is amazing it gives you so much more stuff than any other car can do it’s so clever.😁 look forward to more videos from you have a fantastic Christmas 👍👍👍
Cracking video as always Ian. Please can you do a vid or a musing on the new energy app? Just got my model Y and would love your insight on this new update. Cheers mate and Merry Christmas!
Something’s not right with your passenger seat - in my M3 it moves it all the way forward and all the way back pretty quickly, doesn’t adjust the tilt etc
Just FYI my seat adjuster moved front passenger seat forward & back, so might be more complexity/response than it appears. Perhaps connected to last seat control action?
Another great video. I am a Tesla newbie and only had my model y for a couple of weeks. The current software is 2024.38.100. So it seems a bit behind. Is there anything I should do to either initiate a software update or enable software update. Keep up the great work with the videos
Hi Ian Your Teslogic unit might be causing a conflict with some of the new functions of the update. Like yourself I've got other units (Rear Screen, TPBUFF Physical Control Button and an OBDII Diagnostic socket) [You can imagine how the rear of the centre console looks!] I guess these need software updates themselves somehow. You need Apple Watch Series 6 and above for those functions to work. I found that out through trial and error as I have a Series 4.
Some good updates, apart from what I'm hoping for! How to submit to the wishlist/bug reports? I have a 2020 M3 AWD with premium connectivity. Image recognition doesn't recognize 110 kmh speed limit signs. Leaving a habitation, speed limit often doesn't switch to national speed limit, so you're stuck at 50 kmh when in a 90 kmh area. Threshold to engage cruise control too high - when driving on gravel and potholes, would be good to engage at 5 kmh instead of having to go to 30 kmh, engage and then turn down to 5! No resume ability for cruise control. Mobile app can't control fan speed or select sidelights/headlights on/off. Can't switch headlights or sidelights on while watching youtube. Can't start without headlights on, useful if you don't want to wake anyone up while sneaking out to the garage at night for some supplies. Enabling autopilot always engages autobeam, and sometimes a dry wipe. Remembering/restoring seat position stopped working, even after recalibration. Not a huge deal, but even so... Curve assist isn't very usable, hesitant or too fast, so can't rely on it. Would be useful if at least autopilot would recognize and stop for red lights. It recognizes them, so why ignore them?! Anyway, that's a few of my observations!
Loving the auto parking, sooooo fast ! although it doesn't seem to like going all the way back in some parking spots. Also noticed when swapping from me driving to AP it sometimes hesitates so driving at 70 and tap down and the car seems to want to slow down, quite dramatically but not every time, bit of an odd one that.
G'Day Ian. One item that jumped out at me in your video was the non Tesla charging station. Is there some option allowing them to be visible, because I've never seen it here in Australia. Regards, Greg.
I agree that this is another fantastic update and being free is part of owning a Tesla. With your passenger seat are you sure it is working correctly as it should move forward and back as well as reclining.
@@justgetatesla I was thinking more about the Internet radio (I get that without having to pay £10 a month) and then the rear crossing detection. The cynic in me says that if you launch a car without lots of standard features you can say "we constantly improve the car unlike our rivals", it's clever marketing that overlooks the fact that you're rivals just build a lot of this on fun the start. Gotta hand it to the marketing team though, it fools lots of people.
Great Ian.. I drive the Toyota Bz4x.. I love it, always had Lexus/toyota, so reliable. However I do think Tesla have a far better charging network and the technology is far superior than any other manufacturer.. the others need to take note.. My gripe is the sat nav on the Toyota is rubbish.. it only shows charging that Toyota has affiliations with.. I would like to know all charging stations inc tesla charging.. Could you do a vidio on how to purchase a Tesla? Can you part ex.. Im told you can’t buy a Tesla unless its on finance etc..
Morning, just to let you know there's a new petrol station on the A1 at Gladsmuir east lothian, it's an On the move franchise and has what looks like 4 unbranded Tesla v4 chargers open to all, there were a couple of work men in Tesla's putting the final touches to them before the were available last month , easier to get in and out of than Newbridge👍🏴 price board shows 49p per kWh.
@ A fellow owner at the local Tesla club in Austria replied to my question that weather is NOT displayed with an Intel CPU. Not sure if this is correct. Any additional settings that I may have missed?
The cross traffic alert does not work very well from my initial testing - nowhere near as good as a 2016 Honda CR-V I used to own! Another limitation of Tesla Vision v USS. I still get the message about parking warnings being degraded when it's dark and raining - that's totally pathetic. Buy a Tesla and jump out every few minutes to clean cameras if you want the tech to work The Supercharger navigation tells me that of 20 chargers, across two locations local to me, 16 are not working and have not been working for many weeks. Zero information on why they are not working or when they might be back in action! Plus the remaining 4 are still open to all vehicles! Another major supercharger location near to Heathrow T5 which I used to use has shut down permanently - maybe because they could not agree a reasonable parking charge whilst charging so they took the easy option and just shut it down The passenger seat adjustment is stupid in that as you move the seat forward it also moves the back rest into a more upright position and vice versa. Why is that useful?? Better to have it just sliding back and forth. So Tesla updates the IT tricks but fails to significantly improve anything to do with driving the car - Tesla vision is so flawed they can't even get auto wipers to be reliable! If they can't do that, what does it say other than Teslas are designed for places like California, not the UK. I like my Model Y and don't regret buying it but I am not fooled or impressed by many of the updates which are usually more fluff than substance! I doubt I will get another Tesla if they remove stalks from the Y and with the Supercharger network now being less reliable and open to all cars - even if they have to occupy 2 bays to charge ! There are better cars available now for people who appreciate helpful and effective driver aids more than gimmicks

True. Although you can argue with Elon Musk behaving like a complete plank.
@benkeen Absolutely. I'd only buy a second hand Tesla now, so I can convince myself I'm not adding to his pockets. The person before me did 😆
@@benkeendon’t buy it from Elon then, get it direct from Tesla or a second hand dealer.

Tesla is the Apple of the car world
I aim to have one in may

Same with me. Moves smooth. Reclining and rearward moving.
I hope they bring out easy access for passengers. My parents would greatly appreciate it

How about giving chargers the opposite of where you are driving (on the motorway) like i am driving back for one.
