I tried Cricket sim and got it to work briefly. Wife asked what happens if you call the sim phone number that is where my trouble began. As soon as number was called cricket sent a message saying to move sim to a hd voice device to continue service. Before that data worked and also hotspot from the headunit worked.
Carriers are very particular with sim cards. My T-Mobile would work but cut off all the time as if the sim would be blocked. I couldn't get it to work with att or Verizon. Mint mobile worked on 3g barely usable speeds and finally tried boost infinite and it worked great, which is weird as it uses At&t network, whose network sim didn't work. If you also read in the comments a lot of people report it working with different carrier sims that did not work for me, so I suspect it's a combination of location issue with network band priorities as well as network IMEI restrictions. Different network use different systems to vet IMEI allowing them to function or restricting them. You also have different carrier contact in different cities with network band priorities which means it's going to be a trial and error to find the correct carrier for your area.
Not in my area unfortunately, T-Mobile was a no go for me, it might also depend on the chip model as well. If you go back you can see all of my struggles with different carriers and different sims, I believe different carriers use different spectrums in different cities that is why it varies.
@@locorudy626 I have a Teyes CC3, T mobile works on it and I heard AT&T works on it. I think 🤔 it’s the bands on the cell antenna. Maybe Joying has different bands. I got the radio with the most memory and it’s pretty stable
I've been asked this question before but honestly if it is in your dash how would you know it is getting hot? Mine sits about 3 inches behind the screen in the dash never noticed heat from it and have had it for over 2 years now going on 3 year. Maybe if you could tell me some signs of excessive heat I'd could let you know, but in terms of feeling heat from it .. never.
The poster did not mention, you MUST activate the SIM card on a phone first and then put it in the unit. I just tried this with the IMEI number of the unit and Boost refused to activate it on the grounds it was stereo and not a phone. UPDATE:: this does not work. They refuse to activate on the basis of the imei number even though you are picking up service. They will not activate.
Have you tried to activated the sim on a phone? Then use it on the radio. These units do not have specific IMEI numbers they use Chinese tablet IMEI numbers so boost should not know it is a radio unless you tell them, they can however refuse to activate on the ground that it is a tablet IMEI and not a phone line. I'd recommend activating on an unlocked phone then using it on the radio. Please update after you have done this

I think theres an option somewhere that gives you stats from the unit with CPU temp@@locorudy626

What area are you in?
Los Angeles California.
Boost infinite in what state?
California, Southern California to be more specific.
Or you could just use the hotspot from your phone
That defeats my purpose of using it as a standalone.
