My sense from listening to Mumford and Son’s lyrics is that Marcus is a good man seeking truth and seeking God. I’m sure all the band members are good friends, and I read that Marshal left the group so that the negative impact wouldn’t affect the the band. We have a silly world these days where people can’t express their thoughts and opinions unless it’s in keeping with a loud minority.
As a banjo player and former instructor, I can tell you that this is typical of most first lessons. The frustration is palpable with Matt. It's much better if you start when you're a kid.
As a middle aged learner on guitar, it took me several frustrating years to get to where I can play music and not cringe. Oh how I wish I started as a kid....
I took violin, piano and tenor banjo lessons for over a decade, enjoyed myself tremendously while my wife cringed. I never got very good, but learned a lot of music history from "the States". I was about forty five when I began.
@@P.W.R. sort of. They sell these things that you squeeze. It's got one "button" for each finger and a bigger one on the opposite side for the thumb. Supposed to build hand strength. Probably decent for a beginner and/or a child, but pretty useless after you've been playing for about a month. Probably great for physical therapy after hand surgery or something. But yeah, it's sort of a cross between resistance training and a pushup for your fingers. Edit: I should note theure sized for adult hands, so actually useless for a child as well.

Mumford's first album "Sigh No More" is such a beautiful piece of art with deeply Christian themes and biblical imagery. It alludes to Genesis, Macbeth, Steinbeck's East of Eden and Plato's Republic. The song "Roll Away Your Stone" alone looks up to Christ's resurrection. I can't help but think that Winston had a huge influence over the lyricism.
I'm glad to see Winston back out in the world after having to go into isolation for saying he liked Andy Ngo's book on ANTIFA. I was livid at Mumford and Sons until I found out they had not asked him to leave.
I play a bunch of instruments and I must say that Matt did a pretty good job for someone with obviously ZERO musical training. More importantly, this video is a reminder of why Matt is the best thing on Daily Wire, second only to the anime saga.
This is actually quite touching. But I very much regret that Marshall was forced to leave music behind. But notice how when two people discuss or play music, such as here, everything else seems to fade away? No politics, no contention. I powerfully believe that is the magic of it.

When I was a teenager I bought a banjo. It took 2 weeks of constant playing to get the finger-picking rhythm down. After 2 more weeks I could play Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Cripple Creek and 3 other songs. Don't give up, Matt.
I'm jealous you were getting it down in a month, haha. Took me a year to string a coherent song together! It's definitely my favorite hobby irregardless.

Years ago i played bass with a bluegrass group. We were on a morning TV show promoting the festival and we were playing a bit so we had our instruments out. We went to a commercial break just before we signed out. Our banjo player hurriedly gave the presenter his banjo and put the strap around her shoulder. He said "pluck this string and this string, this string and that string. Now do it again. Now do it again. By the time we came back from break she was playing a little open chord, banjo roll and she gave her exit speech while playing. I have never seen anyone so happy in all my life. She kept saying "i played the banjo!"

the whole instrument is dependent on keeping the beat on the right hand and it's hard to do.

Years ago i played bass with a bluegrass group. We were on a morning TV show promoting the festival and we were playing a bit so we had our instruments out. We went to a commercial break just before we signed out. Our banjo player hurriedly gave the presenter his banjo and put the strap around her shoulder. He said "pluck this string and this string, this string and that string. Now do it again. Now do it again. By the time we came back from break she was playing a little open chord, banjo roll and she gave her exit speech while playing. I have never seen anyone so happy in all my life. She kept saying "i played the banjo!"
