Nice looking model Tim, perhaps I could make some observations? At 3:38 you explain about the binding elevator, I notice the rudder to fin gap is pretty big, I know you couldn't close it up any more than you did because it wouldn't line up along the leading edge of the parts, I think I would 'seal' the gap with clear tape, you're going to get a lot of turbulance when you use the rudder. At 5:30 those aileron servos they do look a bit vulnerable, I was thinking you could put the locking clamp on the horn end, this would then stick sideways instead of down. 7:50 c of g, turn the model upside down to do the balance, it's a lot easier as the weight of the model is below the wing, cheers 👍

Thanks Cliff, it's really very pretty. Looks great in the air tool Thanks for the tip about the rudder. I'll try it. The ailerons seem fine so far ;-). Right side up or upside down, the CoG is waaaay off! I've now added 80g in the nose to move it to basically AT the leading edge of the bottom wing.

@@timtheplaneman I was concerned the ailerons may catch in the grass, glad she flies well, looking forward to seeing the video, cheers.

That is a really nice looking plane. The DH models all have a great style (I just don't like the "moth" in the name somehow). The shiny cover really makes it pop. Very good considerations and review. Dancing Wings should send you some goodies for the advertising you are making for them ;) Looking forward to the maiden flight!

Thanks mate. Insider tip - it flies great, but only because I had some "help"! ;-)

Loved seeing this video Tim. Makes me want to buy one! Dancing Wings should make the Sopwith Camel next and send you one for free (since you really did a nice spokesperson job for them!) Over 30 years of rc'ing, the WWI Biplanes are my favorites. The old Wattage Sopwith (foamy) was a great park flyer. The Electrifly Sopwith was a good looking balsa. Can't weight for the maiden voyage video.
What was your total build time?

Thanks mate. It was a pleasure to build and didn't really take much, maybe 2 or 3 hours max. I love the Sopwith Camel and have done a Guillows build (check my videos). DW does have a very large Camel, but too big for me, I'd love to have one this size for sure.

Yes that sounds right. It needs a lot of nose weight, I don't think I have enough.
