DIY Tiger Moth RC Biplane for FPV

- This time I'm back to basic by using all foam board material with some plywood parts. This De Havilland Tiger Moth biplane RC plane is designed to have the same scale as PT-17 Stearman. While Stearman wingspan is 1300mm this Tigermoth wingspan is 1200mm. Smaller but still can do short take off. Using 3536 1200kv brushless motor, 40A Esc and 3S 2200mah can give this plane more than 5 minutes of flight time. The flying weight is about 1145 gram, with that made this model has 4 on wing cube loading and that's almost like a glider. Because it's the same scale as Stearman you can use Stearman's papermodel pilot figure.

3. Wing loading : 26.2 gram/dm2 - 8.6 oz/sq.ft.
4. Wing cube loading : 4 (Between glider and trainer)
5. Wing Area : 43.68 dm2 / 677 sq.in.
6. CG : The rear center wing strut on the upper wing.

Great build!!! Maybe you can try some famous, but less seen as model airplanes?
I mean, like we see lots of Spitfires and those famous ones. But you never see stuff like the Fairy Swordfish and Polikarpov I-15.
They are famous biplanes but you never see them flying as a model. I know you can do it!
Others: Hawker Typhoon, Curtis Kittyhawk, Westland Lysander, Grumman Avenger (Wildcat, Hellcat), SBD Dauntless, TBM Avenger, Brewster Buffalo, A6M Zero, Stuka.
Some with twin engine that are also famous but you do not see them flying as a model. Maybe because they are more complicated than single engine?
Lockheed Lightning, Messerschmidt BF-110 and DH Mosquito, Westland Whirlwind, Bristol Beaufighter and Fokker G-1.... just to name some!

I love the fact that you used both Australian military and civilian registration on this model😉...another one I will be building soon now that I've seen this 🙂...The A17 titles were also used on the CAC /Bell 206B Kiowa (military version of the Jetranger manufactured under license in Australia ) helicopter when they were in service with the Australian army (now retired from military service)

I built your Stearman (reduced to 48" to fit my car) last year. It flies beautifully!
Your T2 Buckeye is half- built (reduced to 48" again) and I agree with you, it is a lovely plane. I am expecting great flying again and having seen this Tiger Moth of yours, I know what to build next. Very impressive!

no, not that. It's usually plugged in on a wall, a heater you can refill the repellant for mosquito

Julius. I had a lot of fun building your Stearman. great airplane. Having trouble with the tiger moth. Unlike the Stearman, the parts were not sized to print and join.
I took the fuselage and wings to Fd Ex and had them sized. Wings at 24 inches (1/2) Fuselage 28 inches. but couldn't figure out how to size the bulk heads and the parts on the download sheet where all of them show up. How do I get the sizes for those parts?
Actually I didn't build it, I send all the plans with build instructions to my builder and he build it without any problem. So I think all parts are all in the correct size. Did you resize it or else? Can you point it out which page or parts that not correct?
Here is what I mean for example. I bring up the page with all the F parts and others. I select F17 and when I print F 17 it is only 3 inches high and 1 and 3/4 wide. What measurement should it be? How do I scale each of the parts on that page to the correct size?@@JuliusPerdana

Hi Julius, what is the ideal distance to install the landing gear?
somewhere on the CG location, if it tail dragger it needs to be more forward position from the CG. if it tricycle the main landing gear needs to be on behind the CG location but not too far for easier rotating on take off
