Recently bought the exact same year and model boat and decided to replace the carpet with marine grade vinyl instead. I've taken apart the whole interior, pulled the middle and front plywood decks for replacement, and plan on updating some wiring and components. And yes, it is a pain in the butt and very time consuming, but I think we'll worth it!
Minute 4:11 he’s goofing on all the people warning him of the job being difficult. Minute 8 complaining about how hard the job is,.. difficult! 😂😂😂. Too funny.
Looks nice! Definitely more work that it looks. Front deck and back deck are easy-peasy, but the mid section is a lot of work, as everything is tied together (floor, sides, rod lockers, etc.). I am in the middle of doing mine. For anyone else doing this, first thing to do is unroll your carpet all the way and draw a bunch of arrows with marker on the back in the direction of the grain, so as you re-carpet everything you get the grain going in the same direction. Otherwise, some pieces will look like a different (darker/lighter) shad of the carpet. If you use old carpets as template, do the same, so you know which was was pointing to the front of the boat.
I have the same boat 2002 Bass tracker 175 limited edition I just rerugged my boat only a few months ago same procedure looks great same boat same everything
Great video. I have a 2003 model 165 pro team tracker that I am going to have to redo the carpet in this winter. I'm not looking forward to it. lol. This viseo confirmed to me that it's going to be a pain in the.....but there was some very helpful tips in the video. Thanks for doing it! Also what carpet did you buy? Source?
Looks great!! I have a 2001 that needs this. On another note I am about to change my 75 hp carbs to 90hp carbs. How fast do you think it will run? The 75 and 90 are identical except carbs and prop. It will be 15 hp over max, which will be fine & undetectable. What does yours run now?
When you re-carpeted the lids did you drill out the weld for the hinge and reinstall after with screws or carpet with the hinge intact carpet directly over hinge?
There are screws inside the compartment around the bottom. If it has rivets, you drill out the rivet. I ended up screwing it back down instead of riveting. Hope this helps, i cant remember exactly.
Just started my 2004 PT 175. Definitely time consuming! Can I ask- when u cleaned the glue off aluminum, what did you use? And when you put the plywood front and mid back on did you carpet it first the screw it back in? Do you see the screws after?
I used an abrasive wheel on my drill and hand held scrapers. Definitely still hard to get it all off. And yes i carpeted them and then re-installed. Using the existing holes in the wood and finding the holes in the aluminum was near impossible so there has to be a better way to do it than what i did! Good luck on the project! It’s rewarding when you finish but a pain during it. I will NEVER do a Basstracker again 😂

I had to remove the hinges and drill new holes in the boat and the hinges and put screws in it instead of rivets. Very time consuming
@@panhandlersoutdoors9970 I guess that will look the most clean. But got so much harder
So what is the process of removing the rod locker doors and compartment?
There are screws inside the compartment around the bottom. If it has rivets, you drill out the rivet. I ended up screwing it back down instead of riveting. Hope this helps, i cant remember exactly.

Dang looks like the back deck carpet is reversed. You can see it leans the wrong way and the colour looks darker
I have a Trump flag in my garage too. Very helpful video.
love the flag🇺🇸💪
Thanks for the info and the Trump Poster. Trump 2024. Let’s Go Brandon .
It wasn’t as easy as u first said it was. Lol.
I did consider to watch until I saw the trump banner
Funny how you felt inclined to let me know that…
Dustin hope your boat sank
Go Trump!!!
You clicked on a boat carpet video and decided that the info was not relevant because of a banner….lol. You Americans are funny.
Bye!
