I do only one of these and if anything I know that this thing can rewind pretty fast mostly a lot faster than some of the other VCRs.
I have this still but the vcr i accidentally broke and the door is missing.

yes thru the RCA connections on the front of the unit. I have the same unit and play sega dreamcast games on it. super fun!
