I'm 38 years old and have been in the business since I was 19. The truth about the mortgage business: Barry Habib does not have a crystal ball, mortgage rates aren't coming down for another 12-14 months minimum, inflation will remain sticky, purchases and realtors are a lot more stress than refinances which is why a lot of guys became refi junkies from 2012-2022, always expect the unexpected, being self employed is liberating and full of pressure, mortgage rates move on a daily basis so never try and time the market, you're only as good as your last month, always be helping and prospecting, learn to be resourceful and persistant (spefially against underwriters) and try not to work 12 hours days because when you're dead you won't be able to take your nice car or nice things with you - we only live once so enjoy your family.

All I can say about persistence, is go ahead and read the book "go for no".
It is a numbers game, the more you do the more you get out. Go for no.
Love the rejection and embrace failure.
The next yes is the closest the more "nos" you get. Don't give up.

I’m a hairdresser and went to a top school in St. Pete, FL and it ran me 20k!! I don’t regret it as I made great money the last 10 years and I’m very talented at it but I’m getting tired and I’m not interested in opening a salon so I don’tsee how to scale that. I’ve decided to join my sister in her world and transition into the mortgage industry. I started in January and this episode is definitely for me!! It’s been rough and I’m definitely going to sign up for coaching. Thank you for everything you put out!

18 years in the business- 12 as an underwriter. I'm now a licensed LO who works from home.
I specialize in DSCR loans and I'm swamped with leads.
Im also a real estate investor- 6 years. So I walk to walk. I'll fight tooth and nail for my loans! You have to have thick skin to survive in mortgages!!
Screw realtors. I market to investors!

    Love the work!
But as someone who is in this industry after a decade in law enforcement... the vast majority of agencies hire you beforehand and cover the entirety of your police academy training should you be untrained. :P
