    This setup will heatsoak terribly while creeping through staging lanes at the track.....then once you do a burnout and stage your iat’s will be through the roof therefore pulling timing killing your 60’ft but hey it looks cool right.

      Considering I actually race a manual trans '14 GT500 to deep 9s, I am aware of the drawbacks with conventional manuals and high power, heavy cars. 760hp+ and 4100# is better suited to DCT or auto. If you really need a stick, try the GT350/350R. Again, look at every DCT review from guys that have driven a new GT500. ALL have been positive. BTW, how many McLaren or top shelf BMWs come with a stick? GTFO

      The other reason why I like manual is it actually take some skill to drive, anybody's Grandma can hop into a gt500 and floor the gas and run 10's. No skill required at all.

    I'm surprised that the new airbox does not fully contain the air filter. Isn't the box supposed to shield the filter from the engine's hot air? The filter doesn't even go halfway into the box. Maybe that feature will be addressed before it goes into full production.

    JLT is basically a snake oil company. You just tested a closed air box setup vs a open filter setup with the hood up. VMP got 45 horsepower on the stock airbox with just the lid removed on a stationary dyno with the hood up. They then tried to back it up at the track. There was no difference lid on or off. Of course a open air filter on a stationary dyno will pick up power over a closed air box. Most open filter air boxes are snake oil. Logically think about what's happening on a stationary dyno with the hood up with both types of intakes.

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The aftermarket intake brings in more air....more cfm airflow=more power as long as youre not letting it heat soak idling forever. You cant close the hood it isnt getting nowhere near 100+ mph worth of airflow like it would be on the street. Its not just about temps cfm airflow matters too. You just gotta manage the heat soak. Mod the shield or whatever you wanna do...more cfm =more power.

    • @ShizawnSanders
      @ShizawnSanders 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelharris748 when you compare the open filter intake vs the stock closed intake does the stock closed intake get those 100+mph winds? No? Well then not a fair comparison. The closed box design will make the same power on a chassis dyno hood up or closed. Yeah, the open filter flows more air but if that air is hot it's not making any more power and probably losing power. Cooler denser air is better than more hot cfm

      He ordered the “base model” and the track pack. This was done strategically so he could make some of the first content ever on a 2020 GT500. They weren’t delivering track pack models right away, which is what he originally ordered, so he ordered a base model to get it fast. Sell one to get the other.

    • @jpat99
      @jpat99 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paul5.2r I don't think that he ordered the base. One of his vids said that he called dealers endlessly trying to find an inventory car of which he did with the black one. I am guessing that with the delay of the Track Pack cars, he knew that he could buy a base car and sell it near MSRP after a few thousand miles. Not too mention his YT revenue would easily cover any depreciation loss.

    Once you close the hood and the intake sucks in all of the engine heat you'll lose 30 hp

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No you dont "lose 30 hp" that is the stupidest shit ive ever heard. When youre moving on the road the car brings in air from the outside which is just like this test. Only time it gets heat soaked is if you sit in traffic for a while not moving then soon as you get moving temps come down pretty fast depending how bad the heat soak is.
      For the 10000000000th time you CANNOT close the hood on the dyno because the car is stationary and its going well over 100 mph with nowhere near 100+ mph worth of airflow hitting the engine so with the hood closed its gonna heat soak bad on the dyno unlike the street in the same situation that isnt a realistic test. Thats what the intake naysayers want. Common sense tells you a car that brings more cfm airflow into the engine is gonna make more power. Only time intakes dont do much is on a stock 5.0 with no other mods or something. You get to cobra jet 5.0s with longtubes or forced induction the intake is gonna help alot because those cars need the extra airflow they provide. You just gotta not idle forever stopped then race right after while its heat soaked its common sense. When you're out driving around with airflow coming in itll run just as good as it did on this dyno even with the "hood closed " God i hate that stupid ass argument from intake naysayers. Rant over

      @brandonbentley4488 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex at lund did a video of open intakes vs closed box with the hood closed ( it was na) and the open air lost hp. So you can only imagine how much more it would lose being boosted creating more heat

      @tedjones-ho2zk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandonbentley4488 I saw the same video, that's why I made the comment. Just because a company says cold air intake, it really doesn't mean a thing.

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tedjones-ho2zk like i said closing the hood on the dyno isnt accurate because youre running 100+ mph creating tons of heat but nowherw near 100+ mph worth or air hitting the front so of course they're gonna lose power on a stationary dyno with the hood closed that is not an accurate way to test. More cfm = more power unless you let it get heat soaked sitting and idling for a while, but soon as you start to move temps come back down fast. When you're moving on the street ecspecially when youre doing 100+ mph pulls it certainly is not gonna be heat soaked so it isnt gonna be losing hp. I watch alexs videos too i like the guy hes straight up and he means well and i appreciate all the testing he does but closing a hood on a dyno is not an accurate way to test for gains or losses. Its just as unaccurate as doing it hood open but it throws it off more to the low side. You gotta datalog both on the same road same direction same weather on the street and look at the info if you want a true test because closing the hood on a stationary dyno is not gonna work.

    • @brandonbentley4488
      @brandonbentley4488 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont think I've ever seen someone do a wot pull and have iat2s drop. Itll always be hotter. Sure theres more air hitting the front but no where near 100mph worth of air is getting in, and theres also more heat being created. So I dont see an open intake doing anything unless you fab up soemthing to get air to funnel from the grille into the intake. Even then I always see it being a closed box.

    I am not sure I understand this testing process. Wouldn't I get the same result by removing the lid from the stock airbox? Also, is this a real world comparison, in that the hood is open, therefore the heat can more easily dissipate? Therefore wouldn't removing the lid from the stock airbox yield the same result as the open JLT airbox with the hood closed?

    • @drspokkkk5831
      @drspokkkk5831 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points but the aftermarket filter is larger and more free flow. That is the main reason for the HP increase when the car is in a hot humid garage. The results might have been less if the hood was closed. When driving outside at speed there is plenty of cold air getting into the engine bay. IMO Cold air intakes should be called "bigger, better air filter intakes".

    • @backnu
      @backnu 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MustangLifestyleTV this may be true but I have watched other TH-camrs dyno with the hood closed and zero gains from a cold air. It's a tricky deal. I noticed with an air intake, the IAT is always higher at anything less than highway speeds. That has to affect hp because it's at least 20 degrees higher in normal traffic than the OEM box. Just something I have noticed after having the Roush. Maybe I need an air intake that is closed similar to the OEM unit.

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@backnu did you not understand what andrew just said? The reason there is no gain or a loss is because the car is going way over 100 mph with nowhere near that much airflow coming in on a stationary dyno so of course its gonna heat soak with the hood closed. You a conspiracy theorists need to use some common sense lol. You cant simulate the proper airflow with the hood closed. The car is running up over 100 mph but when that much airflow isnt coming in on a stationary dyno the car is gonna heat soak real quick and either not gain or itll lose. On the street moving at 100+mph you wont be heat soaking because tons of fresh air is gonna be hitting it from the outside of the car. For you conspiracy theorists best way to test is to do street pulles same place same day same whether same direction with both intakes and datalog them and check out the differences thats the only way you can do a "fair" test

I know my dad had a 94gt and the color was somewhat like that it was a dark blue in little light and light blue in the sun I loved that car mostly because it was a ford but the color just popped and it had the black on black interior. I’ve owned my my own mustangs since and always ended up with red and I hate red but figured I could paint. Long story short saved the money bought 9x17 inch black cobra wheels and they cost 2 grand saved again to get mine painted and my dream was a blue and black mustang I had a fox at the time. Nope never got my blue the car was stolen from my storage. I had a built motor. That cost me a lot and I did every bolt on possible myself And that same winter I bought a supercharger and nitrous kit went to put that all in before paint and the car was gone. Now my dream would be that blue on that GT500. But it will never happen I got close to my dream from 19yrs old to 23 yrs old and now I’m 35 and my body is falling apart god dammit lol
