      *_solution to c0piright issues_*
      IMAGE EDITION :
      - Edit themusic video with partial % of transparency (and/or text)
      - Flip the music video from Right to Left
      AUDIO EDITION :
      - Put the volume of the music video lower than the volume of your microphone(not too low). (Statics, White noise & your comments , make little distortion to the audio)
      - Record the audio of your reaction separately from the audio of the episode, that way you can mute/edit the audio/image of the episode without muting/editing the audio/image of your reaction.
The c0pyright works with an 4lg0rithm that searches based on audio and image.
If you want to make sure you don't have problems, I always recommend editing both (audio and image)
I have realized that many times white noise, static, echo, outside sounds, an air fan in the distance, the sound of your microphone (breathing in the distance) any small audio distortion helps avoid the 4lg0rithm of c0pyright.

  • @MartinBeerbom

The music score was composed by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith, and it's one of his best (among a plethora of great scores). It's one of those cases where he was allowed to let loose. He was one the very few people who understood that music is *the* most important feature to deliver an emotional response in a movie, and then could deliver also the best emotion the movie needs, even for subtle things. There are a few videos here on youtube where orchestras perform the main theme (The Gremlin Rag, mostly the end credits version from Gremlins 2, because that is actually arranged for a large orchestra, while the version recorded for this movie features synthesizers heavily), and they have one thing in common: The musicians go absolutely wild for the fun performing it!
    Also, watch Gremlins 2.

The idea of Gremlins started amongst the RAF pilots in the 1920's. The story goes that they lived at the top of the Asian mountains and they would jump onto the planes as they flew past. Author Roald Dahl is credited with popularizing the myth outside of the air force (and let's face it, it definitely has a Roald Dahl flavor to begin with). Mr. Futterman's muttering about gremlins in foreign cars and equipment is an outgrowth of that original mythology.

The part that always bothered me (and still do it today) is that the Professor maybe wasn't even dead.
The main character just saw him laying unconscious under the desk and didn't even bother to check if he needed help.
He just run away and left him there and the movie just forgets about him.

Gremlins already existed in modern folklore as mischievous unseen creatures that enjoy getting into machinery and causing it to break down for no discernible reason. The idea was popular among WWI pilots and some current motorcycle riders still attach bells to their machines to keep the gremlins away.
This is what the guy toward the beginning of the movie was ranting about and it ties in to the dad's monolog at the end where he talks about how you possibly having gremlins if your washing machine breaks down. It's also a running theme relating to the dad's inventions always malfunctioning, so it's fitting that he's the one who discovered the mogwai.

Fun fact; Bugs Bunny encountered a gremlin in 'Falling Hare" (1943, directed by Bob Clampett)
    A few easter eggs;
    - At the beginning of the movie, the movie theater is showing a double feature of 'A Boy's Life' and 'Watch the Skies' (original working titles for 'E.T.', and 'Close Encounters'... Spielberg was the producer of this film)
    - Chuck Jones compliments Billy's artwork in the bar (Director Joe Dante is a huge Chuck Jones fan...)
    - At the inventors convention, the person who dissapears was first sitting in the Time Machine from the George Pal film of the same name, Stephen Spielberg can be seen diving a little electric car, and music composer Jerry Goldsmith can be seen talking on a pay phone, later replaced by Robbie the Robot from 'Forbidden Planet' (quoting his lines from the same...)

First thing Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 Addie. Your reaction was so fun.
    Yes cuteness overload.😅 Hilarious.
I remember seeing this in theaters when I was 9. Gizmo is adorable. Remember a mogwai isn't a Gremlin until it transforms. However clearly not a mogwai are friendly like Gizmo.
The original script was darker/disturbing. The dog wasn't originally going to be alive when found hanging and Billy's mom was also going to die. In the original script there wasn't going to be a mogwai/Gremlin named Stripe. The plans was for Gizmo to go bad and transform into a Gremlin called Stripe.
However I'm very glad they didn't go down the dark path and kept Gizmo truly good/kind.
The cruel Mrs Deagle got what she deserved. She knew she was a bad person, and thought the Gremlins were demons coming to take her soul to hell. We know she thought that, because when the Gremlins come to her house. She first says what are they? but after looking out the window at them. She then states "They've come for me" and then repeats "I'm not ready" a couples times just before getting launched out the window to her death.
I also believe the disturbing story of Kate's fathers death was likley a plot point kept from the darker orginal script.
On a side note: Gizmo coming to the rescue driving a pink Barbie corvette was hilarious.
Fun fact: The final scenes in Billy's town of Kingston Falls were shot at Universal Studios' backlot, specifically in Courthouse Square. Which a year after Gremlins becomes famous for its role as Hill Valley in the "Back to the Future" trilogy. The town center where the clock tower is. The movie theater the Gremlins watch Snow White/ burns down is seen multiple times in Back to the Future. Marty even crashes the DeLorean into it.

And anyone else reading this who has already seen the second movie but not the sketch. I highly recommend it.

Addie: "How could I ever have thought this was a horror movie?"
Me, who saw half this movie in theaters when I was 8 and had to leave as soon as the gremlins showed up: "Give it fifteen minutes."
It's funny that you mention that the movie is PG. This movie was a big part of why the PG-13 rating was created. A lot of parents took their kids to see this movie and were like "This is NOT appropriate for kids even WITH parents."

I think it's the contrast in tones that makes 'Gremlins' so effective. When it first starts out, it's all comfy-cozy; we get the wacky inventor and his most-wholesome-in-the-world family, and we meet Gizmo, and Gizmo is cute - but there's that kind of spooky intro, with the rules, and the rules are a stroke of genius, because you KNOW they're all going to be broken, and you're on tenterhooks 'til when they do. Then it kind of goes back and forth between sinister and heartwarming, until finally the Gremlins are unleashed - but even then, it's not full-on horror. It goes back and forth between cute and scary, so you never quite know WHAT to expect. It's a tricky balancing act, but it's pulled off very well.

Watched this as a kid and loved it. Wasn't until I rewatched this as an adult that I began to have questions.
    1. Don't feed them after midnight is impossibly vague. Every day starts with midnight, so it's always after midnight. When does it become safe to feed a Mogwai? Sunrise?
    2. Is Mogwai biology affected by time zones? Say you lived 15 minutes east of the Eastern/Central time zone line, it was 12:20 am and your Mogwai was hungry. Could you drive your Mogwai 15 minutes west and then feed it?

Great reaction to a classic movie Addie. Glad that you liked it.
    Fun movie facts....
Gremlins & Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom were the two films in 1984 that were responsible for the creation of the PG-13 rating (prior to 84, films were only rated R, PG and G. When these two movies came out many parents & parents group were understandably upset that these films were too intense for very young children - as I'm sure you could tell).
Howie Mandle (Bobby's World, Deal Or No Deal/America's Got Talent host & comedian) voiced cute little Gizmo.
Frank Welker (voice actor who voiced many iconic animated characters in the 80s, 90s & 2000s - such as Brain & Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget, Megatron & Soundwave in The Transformers, Wild Bill in G.I Joe: A Real American Hero, Fred Jones in Scooby Doo Where Are You?, Slimer & Ray Stanz in The Real Ghostbusters, most of the Beagle Boys in DuckTales and Garfield in The Garfield Show) voice the 'Stripe' gremlin
Michael Winslow (Officer Laravel Jones in the Police Academy films and the radar operator in Spaceballs) also did several of the Gremlins voices in various scenes.
Peter Cullen (voice actor who voiced many iconic animated characters in the 80s, 90s & 2000s - such as Optimus Prime in The Transformers movies & animated shows, Monterey Jack in Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Eeyore in many Winnie the Pooh shows and movies, KARR in Knight Rider & the voice of the Predator in the Predator movies) he also did several of the Gremlins voices in various scenes.
Gizmo was the inspiration for the Furby toys in the 90s early 2000s.
There are a lot of Spielberg-ian references/Easter eggs thoughtout...the billboard (at the beginning of the film), looks like Indiana Jones, the movie theater is playing 'Watch The Skies' - a 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' reference & 'A Boy's Life' - an ET: The Extra-Terrestrial' reference - along with Stripe hiding behind an ET doll in the department store. And Steven Spielberg himself has a, blink & you might miss it, cameo in the movie at the inventor's convention. Also Pete (Corey Feldman) would star in another Steven Spielberg produced film the next year in 1985, The Goonies (as the part of Mouth...also in 'The Goonies' there is a 'Gremlins' reference/Easter egg as well, when Chunk, played by Jeff Cohen, is talking to the Sheriff, played by Paul Tuerpe, on the phone, the Sheriff said "just like that other prank you told about all those little creatures that multiply when you pour water on em?")
Throughout Gremlins, there are also many sci-fi movie references/Easter eggs (as both Steven Spielberg & Joe Dante are big sci-fi fans as well), such as Robbie The Robot from 'Forbidden Planet', the time machine from 'H.G. Wells The Time Machine', 'Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior' & 'Twilight Zone: The Movie' posters are in Billy's room, Gizmo and Billy both fall asleep watching 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers', the Gremlins pods are very similar in design to the 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers' pods, are the Gremlins are playing a 'Star Wars' arcade game in the bar and the smoking gas station attendant is played by Kenneth Tobey who was in the sci-fi classics 'The Thing: From Another World', 'The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms', 'It Came From Beneath The Sea' & 'Strange Invaders'.
Legendary Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones has a cameo in the bar scene early in the movie (he was the old man talking to Billy about the drawing of Mrs. Deagle) and he would later provide animation for another Joe Dante film 'Looney Tunes Back In Action' (that would be the very last film he would work on to some extent before he passed away in 2002).
Dick Miller & Jackie Joseph (Mr. & Mrs. Futterman) who were good close friends in real life, would star in over a dozens of movies together (and in several Joe Dante films as well, such as Piranha, The Howling, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Explorers, Interspace, The 'Burbs, Small Soldiers & Looney Tunes: Back In Action)
The main town square (which was the in the Universal Studios backlot for decades) was used in lots of television shows and movies, such as To Kill A Mockingbird, the Back To The Future trilogy, The Monster Squad, Jingle All the Way, Escape From LA, Psycho II, Delirious, The Nutty Professor, The Incredible Hulk, The Dukes Of Hazzard, Leave It To Beaver, Growing Pains, Knight Rider, Magnum, P.I. & House MD to name a few.
Hardee's restaurants had a promotional tie in with Gremlins for their kids meal in 1984 (long before McDonald's started to do that kind of thing). If you bought a kids meal you would get a Gremlins storybooks (that would also come with a read-along record or audio cassette tape, depending on your preference and/or availability...there was a total of 5 storybooks in all, which told the entire story of the movie, broken up in 5 parts, briefly). I had all 5 of them back in the day.
Definitely check out the sequel, 'Gremlins 2: The New Batch' It is a whole lot of fun as well.

Gremlins were first written about by Roald Dahl, renowned children books author of the twentieth century.
He was a fighter pilot during the first year of the Second World War, and while flying missions, he and his colleagues thought it strange and frustrating how technical issues could crop up just like that.
A perfectly fine working plane could be taken into the skies and a few minutes later the pilot would find he was lost over unknown territory due to a faulty compass, suddenly having no fuel or other bad things.
Eventually they started ascribing these incidents to little creatures who lived inside their airplanes and liked to disconnect cables, or outright destroy stuff.
Dahl called these little mischievous creatures Gremlins.
After a war injury forced him to stop flying, he worked with Walt Disney on a film named 'Gremlins' in 1943. But the film was never made and Disney cancelled the project.
Dahl served in the RAF during World War II, first based in North Africa, later fighting over Greece.
He was injured after miraculously surviving a massive air battle, where hundreds of German bombers and fighters were up against his squadron's twelve Hurricane fighters. His squadron leader was shot down plus most of his men, Dahl and one or two others miraculously escaping.
He was then sent to Washington D.C. as a goodwill ambassador, the USA had not entered the war yet.
A journalist asked him to write some notes about his aerial adventures, so he could base a newspaper story on it.
Dahl had never written before so he tried his best. After having mailed his notes to the newspaper, the journalist called him a few days later.
He said 'I asked you for some notes, not a complete story!' He thought it was a very good story and that Dahl should publish it under his own name.
That was the start of Dahl's long and succesful writing career, first for Hollywood and later in life Dahl started writing his famous children's books like Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
