Being a Welsh man that was painful to watch but have to say ... what a game amazing job by Fiji.
If you want to watch a good film about Rugby and underdogs watch "The Brighton Miracle" Its about Eddie Jones (the now England coach) went down to Japan and turned them into a world class side.
A good player to check out would be Shane William who scored a try in that game. He was told he was to small for international rugby... how wrong they were.

In 15s Fiji is always the underdog but in 7s they're a powerhouse. Wales have a very successful past but have been hit and miss in the modern era, although the did recently win the 6 Nations.

I don't think they were underdogs against Uruguay at the last World Cup.

@@timnewman7591Fair call but the way they play most of the time I'd argue that point.

I'm glad you are reacting to a lot of Wales matches (even our darkest moments such as this). We have a super rich history in the sport but had a real doldrums period throughout the 80s, 90s and early 00s. With that being the period at which rugby turned professional and started becoming more interconnected globally, it seems that is what a significant number of other fans still associate with Welsh rugby despite our successes across the last 15 years (most 6N/GS and 2 RWC semi-finals in that period).
Also within the TH-cam rugby space, reactors often get railroaded down the All Blacks/Springboks rabbit hole (with good reason) and strong Irish/English viewer bases keep them relevant as well and sometimes little old Wales can get lost in the mix.
Anyway, the Welsh No. 11 was Shane Williams, he is Wales' top try scorer of all time and comes with highlights packages not dissimilar from Cheslin Kolbe (given their small statures).
Some people have mentioned the Uruguay v Fiji fixture from RWC 2019 which is another wonderful upset. I got up at 4am to watch it not expecting more than to see some lovely Fijian rugby only to find myself cheering on Uruguay and jumping up and down like a maniac in the final minutes. Totally worth it.

If you like underdog stories then check out the history of Munster rugby. Basically a club side who in 1978 beat the All Blacks. From wikipedia..."Munster Rugby has a strong tradition of competitiveness against touring rugby teams. They have played the All Blacks, the national team of New Zealand, 8 times since 1905. In 1978, they became the first Irish team, including the Irish national team, to have won a match the history of competition between the countries, and remained the only Irish team to beat the All Blacks until the national team won their 2016 game."

You should watch Invictus, a film about South Africa in the 1995 World Cup, starring Matt Damon. Oceans Apart is also a great documentary about Pacific Islands rugby and the political issues they face.

David and Goliath is a bit exaggerated, they are both small countries. Fiji may have less resources, but they also have decent coaching and physiology of south sea islander who are dominating rugby these days. 2007 they were starting to get noticed a bit more. But they pretty much mastered a style of play that is basketball like in their passing.

Yeah, in todays world freshmen are not to be underestimated. High Schools regularly produces prodigies. However from a mental/psychological point it can be a bit overwhelming.

Fiji have got as high as the Top-10 in the world rankings, but Wales have always been close to the top. Fiji, like Samoa and Tonga, are well up in the "second tier" of nations that can upset higher ranked nations (see the USA vs Scotland) but not regularly. There's a few sides rising that might make the jump to consistently competing with the best as Japan have done - Georgie, perhaps, though they may have reached their peak and Uruguay are clearly the Number Two side in the Americas. But it's not easy and particularly so for the Pacific nations whose players are lured away by contracts in richer countries and end up playing for those through the residency rules - England, France and Japan all have several islanders in their squads and starting XVs,
Saying that, Tonga have shown in Rugby League what can happen when a generation of really good players comes together and plays for the nation of their birth/ancestors. It'd be very easy to rank them the Number 2 side in the world based on their recent results. Admittedly in a smaller field of competition, fewer nations play RL seriously, but a trawl across the rugby world for people with Fijian or Samoan ancestry who haven't played for another national team might yield results (it worked for the Republic of Ireland in football, after all).

What exactly do you have against us!? in your last 5 videos 3 have bean painful memories for me! You do realise the Welsh have actually won some matches? We do have a long history in the game... although yes we have also lost a lot... like today we just got spanked by the All Blacks.... and next week we are getting spanked by the Boks.
Wales v Western Samoa RWC1991 next?

    Woah, woah, woah!!!
I know you are new and all so I've got to let you know, you cannot be a fan of BOTH Wales and England.
    That's Impossible. Inconceivable.
You know nothing. That's like bein both a Yankee and Soxs fan.
That's not how the World Cup works. It's not like NCAA Basketball. It isn't a single elimination tournament.
There are 4 pools of 5 teams. Everyone plays the rest of their pools. Four games.
Then, using the bonus point system, the top two teams of each pool advance. Eight teams.
Those 8 teams then go into a single elimination tournament.
I suggest "Sevens from Heaven". It's a short documentary on TH-cam about Fiji's journey to become the first 7's gold medalists.
Check out a 'Shane Williams video.
