  • The Grand Vitara marks Maruti's long-awaited entry to the mid-sized SUV segment. Jointly developed with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Grand Vitara is Maruti's answer to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Nissan Kicks. Was it worth the wait? Nikhil Bhatia has the answer.

People talk about sportiness and lack of power. But honestly speaking most people buying cars in these segments doesn't want any of that. What matters most is ride quality, ease to drive, fuel efficiency, reliability, dependability, hassle free ownership and steady highway cruising at 100+ KPH. Which the HyRyder and Grand Vitara have.
IMO Maruti and Toyota might be late, but they've come with a winning formula.

I’ve got the Scross Mild Hybrid and I can assure this platform is superb for our road conditions. Majority of us won’t be always on the boil to have a sporty experience and will prefer the comfort added with relaxed driving, the Grand Vitara is for sure a bang for your buck.

The engine is same, I guess the hybrid behavior will also be same which is just for namesake in scross and the manual is still 5 speed, which leave you wanting for more on highways..
Though stability is very good in scross and mileage is also good..
The major uplift is only in the strong highbrid which mat come around 17-20L..

    1. Mild or strong hybrid will give awesome milega.
    2. Since most of the time we will be riding in town/city, so no issue with performance.
    3. Highway performance is good for 80-100kmph. I mean for a family car, that's good.
    4. It is AWD, has offroad capabilities, so it will be useful in case of bad roads or say after heavy rain.

Hybrid can easily deliver 20-27kmpl mileage. Finally a suzuki product that ticks all the boxes. They could have given 1.4boosterjet as well. Suzuki should've given a 1.8L or 2.0L Naturally Aspirated engine in big cars like Grand Vitara and XL6. The prices would've increased, but then those cars would be much more capable.

    • @kt4092
      @kt4092 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Engine size doesn't always correlate to capability of cars. The hybrid system in these cars is working as a de-facto turbo that means the power and torque is available on demand and weight-to-power ratio is maintained (mostly) without having the need for a higher capacity engine. This car is smart, and it looks that they have further sweetened the deal with AWD (although 99% of people may never even require one they into hardcore off roading). Unless someone is into drag racing on Indian roads, this SUV makes the most sense out of all available options.

    • @sunitapardeshi5537

Nay, naturally aspirated with bigger engine wouldn't make any sense, people buy these cars for economy, that would simply mean power which Indians don't want much. The engine option here looks decent.

I wish it had a 6 seater option similar to XL6... it could be more relevant and useful to a normal 3 generation Indian family.

Since the vehicle is predominantly powered electrically, does it need to be charged like other EVs?

Sir, why does Grand Vitara's Mild Hybrid claimed mileage (20 Kmpl) is more than that of S Cross (18.5) despite having the same engine?

Strangely the video doesn't talk about how much water the AWD variant can wade through. This is an important point because it's a hybrid and most of its electricals will be in the floor and we know how our cities are in the monsoon.

Very good to finally see Maruti getting adventurous with the New Grand Vitara . I am tempted to buy the automatic all wheel drive strong hybrid as my daily drive car. Thank you for the awesome video. .

I faced a critical issue in GV. I went for a drive from Bhubaneswar to Tirupati which is around 1300 KMs and in Tirupati my fuel pump stopped functioning. As usual Tirupati Nexa do not have spare part and they kept my car for 6 days in the workshop.

The issue I faced in just 3000 kms ruuning
