Love this Ricky and Taylor are such amazing Vocalist and people and you can tell Hoover is a very big hearted person with passion love that guy and Taylor is just insanely good
When ricky gets choked up talking about mitch that hit right in the feels. I always thought his performance on the night stood out I can see now why 🖤🤘
He looks so different! No plugs, bald, and super skinny! I believe he didn't have face tattoos back in 2010? He was a crazy vocalist in Suffokate! The skies were filled with fire!
I think the 1st wave of Deathcore was 2000-2010, led by Suicide Silence and Whitechapel, Deathcore was a new genre, using low tuned guitars, fast drums, harsh vocals, heavy breakdowns. The 2nd wave of Deathcore was 2010-2020 and it was led by Infant Annihilator and Shadow Of Intent, triggered drums were being introduced to the genre, new vocal techniques were being added, multiple strings, heavier breakdowns etc, I think the 3rd wave started in 2020, so far it is led by Slaughter To Prevail and Lorna Shore, melodies, symphonies, orchestras, even more vocal techniques, heaviest breakdowns are involved.
I’m so glad to hear these two vocalists not only sound like genuine humans in this podcast, but absolutely putting people in their place when it comes to the Lorna Shore hate.
Luv from China. Trust me, deathcore's listeners are literally EVERYWHERE and u guys are fucking awesome!! Glad to see 2nd wave of deathcore bands are getting bigger!🤘🏻
*Ricky Hoover is 1 hell of a vocalist & lyricist. When he was in Suffokate, I loved them even more than before. No Mercy, No Forgiveness & Return To Despair were their 2 best albums (ESPECIALLY Return To Despair). I wondered how he's been since that band & I'm REAL glad he's still doing stuff & different kinds! Taylor seems really cool & I'm glad to know about him now too. Also, props to Garza on that Morbid Angel shirt. I have that same thing in patch form.*
I met Ricky at an OV SULFUR show, at Cupertino, back in 2021, and I think it was Ricky return to the Bay Area since Suffokate days. This dude is so swole and tall in person, yet he is such a damn sweet heart. We hit it off with talking about powerlifting, since I used to be a competitive powerlifter and I used to watch his powerlifting training videos on Instagram, then I took a picture with him. We look hella cute in the photo.
Killer show Garza!!! Brought some old memories up for me that I have not thought about in awhile... my old band opened for Suffocate back in the day at Yesterdays in Wheeling,WV!!! Also reminded me of a time I got to hang with Mitch and Mark at show in Cleveland Ohio at Peabody's on The cleansing tour!!! They came up to me... it was very surreal!!!
dude this is such a trip. I remember going to see both suffokate and suicide silence back in the day. Such good memories and im glad i got to experience the first great wave of deathcore. Im glad ricky is back and im so happy to see garza having a podcast. Def earned a sub
This episode was such a treat to watch :3 every topic, every laugh every moment of remembering was so enjoyable ✨❤️🖤🤘 one of my fave parts is 43:04 to 43:26 :3
These guys don't know how lucky they are to have lived their dream like this. I'm walking units for a construction company right now. All I wanted to do was be in the death core band and support myself
These guys became one of nt favorite bands arter I saw then live. Also, Ricky is terrifying in person lol. He's like nine feet tall and absolutely jacked.
im 51 matt i been in death metal since its birth and still go hard and heavier then yesterday and mitchs raw soul and range is absolute godtier brother as is your guitar playing and mark i actually look very very much like mark and my very very close brother/friend and the only other guitarist i have ever been able to flow with because we taught eachother and we were so in silent competion till we bowed to eachother and the thing is you look identical to my bro. sadly we lost ricky to a murder charge/prison sentence and i never played in outfit with another player because we was so close/tight/ but it fks with me when i see some the early ss footage because its me and ricky man we are your doppleganger to the echoe that my 1st ibanez i still own it 1991 rg570 japan but its the plum discontinued paint ibanez dont make and stopped because so many coats its marks same guitar on no pity man and we have identical brown straight hair and its fkin weird i would love show ya few pivcs haha\m/ but yes mitch was a special and went 100 everyday lived it so we alll have allways been family in our thing \m/deathmetal is a united family and that is somthing all in genre should show homage and be sure to show respect and honor those who paved these roads!im 51 \m/ so we are alll old souls to begin with stay brutal\m/ and ricky man the fact that you feel that energy says alot man so never let that feeling leave\m/taylor how you at homie\m/\m/ oh and mark ricky your doppleganger had a ibenez stealth thin 770 and when i see the early stuff it really is like mirror \m/
Ricky Hoover is a great Vocalist but in my opinion he needs a new band ...something more heavy like his old band suffokate I think the singer that does the clean vocals in that new band he is in ruins the vibe of the band so much. But thats just my opinion ricky doesnt need a clean vocalist in his band lol
Thanks for having Ricky! Great conversation. You and Taylor both rule!
Love this Ricky and Taylor are such amazing
Vocalist and people and you can tell Hoover is a very big hearted person with passion love that guy and Taylor is just insanely good

Love the positivity!
Dude didn't realize he's the dude from Suffokate. I loved them years ago. He looks completely different now
I know right same here!
He looks so different! No plugs, bald, and super skinny! I believe he didn't have face tattoos back in 2010? He was a crazy vocalist in Suffokate! The skies were filled with fire!
I love Taylor! He is just the nicest person ever! Always treated me well at the masquerade in Atlanta and just talked to you like a person.
Someone please make a documentary of 1st wave of deathcore then the 2nd wave of deathcore
Crazy how long it’s lasted when so many thought it was going to be a flash in the pan
Real comment right here the deathcore history is an amazing one.
For real. -GaЯza
YESS!! It needs to happen. SS is a huge part of the genre.

ricky is actually excellent on podcasts. good listen.
Left to suffer live is just insane. Like the music and sound tech is crazy it's like euphoria.

Ricky Hoover looks so different with hair, I barely recognized him
These guys became one of nt favorite bands arter I saw then live.
Also, Ricky is terrifying in person lol. He's like nine feet tall and absolutely jacked.
this is what deathcore needs. interviews but man you really have to get more people involved or atleast ask mfs about the past.

Did they talk about him lip syncing or when he was in Suffokate
I saw System in 98 or 99 and all I can remember is Shavo playing naked and flopping his dong around while they played. It was hilarious
Lmfaooooo these kids with the neck beards
Is it just me or does Ricky Hoover sound a little like Mitch
God Hoover has got jacked!
Ricky Hoover is a great Vocalist but in my opinion he needs a new band ...something more heavy like his old band suffokate I think the singer that does the clean vocals in that new band he is in ruins the vibe of the band so much.
