I'm kind of surprised of how many comments about 60k not being that much. And about how national average is 60k but from what I see 60k is higher than the national average HOUSEHOLD income (most likely a combination of incomes). 60k aint gonna make you rich but is definitely above average in my opinion. For example, in a billing process I wouldn’t put down that the billing clerk would print out the bill, which I thought was implied. My director interpreted it as bad note taking during walkthroughs, but I think it was my focus on “getting to the point” in my workpapers. Also, in a flowchart (look at examples online) the control language will be a separate written portion from the actual process boxes. My workpaper would include the control language in a separate section from the flowchart, but they wanted it to be included in boxes within the flowchart. I fixed these issues when they were identified, but I wasn’t independently identifying these issues which they thought was a problem. I also didn’t call my senior when inventory was off by an immaterial amount and I made a judgement to not take additional samples. I tried transferring departments, but my director said “that’s not how this company works.”

I'm going to be completely honest: I have never met someone who is passionate about accounting. I have met plenty who are ''passive'' about it, and quite a few who flat out hate it...Passing the CPA isn't as hard as people say, it's just about studying properly and making sure you know stuff by heart....
I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s not as hard as people say, maybe your just smarter than the average, and didn’t find it hard to pass or learn accounting. That is like saying playing a certain sport is easy, it depends, some people are not as coordinated and need time to learn or may find it more difficult to play than others.
Hello, I’m considering getting my CPA after I finish my last course in my masters in finance program. I’m currently a revenue accountant making 65k - how should I go about knowing if I have the requirements and where do you recommend I start? Five year goal - I would like to be a finance or accounting manager
Hey Aaron - I'd start here and follow the steps I lay out - www.cpaexamguide.com You might also take my study personality quiz and select brand new cpa candidate. www.freecpaquiz.com
Please help me with this question: Whatever review course you used. I see that some offer video classes (extra $$). If you did, were they useful to you, or textbooks, your notes, and MCQ's were sufficient? Thank you.
Great video. Also appreciate the honest salary increase ex. of $40k to $65k sounds realistic for many people. I earned a bachelor's in accounting and thinking about going back to school to get a CPA once I get a bit of experience.
Question what are the requirements to start. I’m looking into becoming an accountant/CPA. As a first generation college student I want to know what classes to take in order to learn and benefit me more in order to be better prepared for the CPA exam. Is it business/management course?
Hi Jose. Every state has similar (sometimes different) requirements for becoming or being eligible for CPA certification. I would recommend looking up your state requirements. In my state, a bachelor's degree is required before being eligible to sit for the CPA exam. Good luck!
New subscriber! Thank you for this video! I am majoring in accounting and my university counselor tells me to get into the PPA program where I would get both my bachelor and master degree and be eligible to sit for my CPA. Do you recommend on doing this? Or is it better to have your bachelor degree and then study for the CPA?
Stay in industry kids. Might take you longer to gain relevant experience. However the earnings are significantly better and your career trajectory can be quick if you work hard.
So public accounting is the best place to start. Private industry pays much better if you can get at least 3 years of public under your belt. 5 years is even better. If you avoid public it will be a long uphill battle to increase your salary.
Man I was thinking you were gonna say you made 80 to 100 grand after becoming a CPA. 60 grand is not a lot of money in CA. And it took 2 years to make that much. Also, I'm assuming that's before taxes. Now if you're single, that 60 grand is cut almost in half Lol... Why should I put myself through all that stress of taken an exam? The only benefit I see is starting your own firm.. Oh I didn't even mention personal debt like student loans and etc.. Just being honest. Goodluck!
I'm in the midwest so cost of living was significantly lower than yours, in CA/NY you can easily expect 80K or more for entry to experienced positions. Again remember this license sticks with you for your entire career so earning power over time is exponential.
CPA Exam Guide I assume in the South Florida area it should be around the same or a little less right? I'm assuming because of population density and all that. Also, do the Big 4 exclusively look for CPAs or is this just a preference? Thank you for the video
It depends on your time schedule and your job opportunity. If you obtain your CPA hours while passing the CPA exam within 1 year, you could become a CPA in just about a year.
Hi, I want to take up AICPA course but I am confused about the educational qualification criteria. I have done bachelor in Science and MBA in Finance, can you please assist if I can go for CPA course. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for amazing informative explanation. Question: I consider to continue my study in MSA in the USA with 3 year bachelor’s degree from Europe to become CPA. However, according to the description in the website of NASBA , A three-year baccalaureate completed outside the U.S. is not equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree.. I am so indecisive whether to begin again undergraduate program in accounting or there is any chance that my present international degree + 2 year in Master of Science in Accountancy will qualify me to sit for and get CPA license :(
Ahmed Selim Different rules, in addition in quebec you must prove french knowledge, which is so unfaire to anglophones born in quebec, but not so for francaphones regardless of where they're from.
Hey, thank you for your awesome video. May I ask you a question? I am currently enrolled in a business school majoring accounting and I plan to get some internships (with coop) during my bachelor and once I graduate my bachelor degree, I am willing to get directly to the CPA program (2 years) that my university offers. Is it a good idea studying for my cpa exams BEFORE staring my career? Because I feel like it will be "easier" to get in BIG 4 accounting firms with my cpa licence.
Hlo sir I'm from Nepal and pursuing CA in India. So am I eligible for this course? And if yes or no, please let me know.. Thanks in advance Dilip Kumar Gupta
Yes, the content is updated every year. However, it’s not changed completely. As you know laws and regulations are changed every year, so the CPA exam content needs to catch up with current laws and regulations. The requirements for applying for the CPA exam are different in each state. However, the requirements for passing the CPA exam are all the same: Stay Focus, Determined, and Never Give Up. 😉

I’m a nurse currently working my way through a bachelors degree in biology and chemistry. I want to change paths and earn my CPA! Someone give me tips 😁
You don't need an accounting degree. Instead double major in econ and take the accounting classes they offer (if you live in a place that only offers biz admin accounting concentration). Ditch bio and keep chem or choose the one you like more. You want to make sure that you do not trap yourself into one job field and also do not lose the option for med school.
Hi pls advice.. I started CPA late at 23 and due to some ignorance of right coaching, and some personal demotivation / fear of exams .. I couldn't actually study for 2 and half years .. Now I'm worried that I'm getting old and still far away from finishing it . But I calculated that if I buckle up my belt and pass exams in one sitting without future failing.. I'll be able to finish CPA by age 29-30. Please advice how late I will be??? And how bad it will effect my career if I finish CPA at that late age. Please advice anyone. 😓🙏
Also finishing at late age 29-30 (As compared to what I have seen some guys finish CPA by age 24-26 ) Will it effect my possibility of getting into Big 4 or Big Company or Big firms?? Is there any way in which I can enhance my value that sets off my late age / or no of attempts?? And I become a better CPA ?? Pls advice 🙏
All the CPA's annual salary of $65,000 will be gone paying your mortgage, car payment, and other utilities bill. The cycle repeat for the rest of your life.
You mean $12,000 to $15,000? (Beginning of the video--opposed to $2,000 - 5,000 that you claimed.) And that's if you already have an applicable bachelor's degree-level accounting education.
So you're 300 - 750% off in your statements in this video, given someone already has an accounting or accounting-equivalent bachelor's degree in the field. No one gets the 30 extra credit hours needed without planning on sitting for the Uniform CPA Exam.
Are your parents related? 65k as a starting point is a good salary. Granted, it's not a doctor or lawyer's salary, but you do realize you have high earning potential over the course of your career.
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou I want to work for some Banks,Accounting firms or Insurance companies for few years to get in field experience. But still haven't decided on which area to go for.
Ahead_of_ all I would do bachelors in finance and masters in accounting because the accounting info will be fresher in your mind than if you took it years ago in undergrad. If you use a cpa review course, you should be able to see information in that review course lining up with classes

65000 as a cpa?? That sucks. I just left a safety manager position making 68800 base salary plus quarterly bonuses. I netted 55000 in my first 6 months........... And I was considering the cpa. Not now.
JD Wilkinson I went from 40 to 65 in a small market very fast. A cpa will only make you more valuable and is an amazing negotiation tool. You would be silly not to pursue your cpa.
Making 65k in a state like kentucky is equivalent to making 90k in San francisco due to difference in living expenses . Where you earn that money actually matters.
Hae? I watched your video and indeed it's interesting one as you inspired me alot.I'm from kenya and I student in one of the best college of accountants so I actually wanted to know the steps of passing cpa exam.
I can tell you now, if you think 65k is what a CPA makes, then you really don't know. If you compare your career to others, you can work in ANY industry and will always have a job somewhere for you. If you own a firm, you will make 200k+ easily. Your CPA can give you a leg up to put you in management type roles 100K easily. 65k is only a starting point. And, come on, it's also better to have many job opportunities than not have any at all. I couldn't have gotten where I am today if it wasn't for my CPA which contributed to both my career and my handle on money and investments.
My point was that I went from a dead end $40K accounting job to $65K in two years after passing. Of course I make a significant amount more now that I'm 8 years into my career.

$65,000 is an achievement? Hmm. I guess that would be a serviceable income for a few years after college but that's not an attractive income especially with the hours required. For example, we all know CPA firms require at least 60 hours of work a week. So $65,000 / 50 weeks (includes 2 weeks paid vacation per year) / 60 hours a week = $21.67 / hour. Or about what Target retail stores are planning to pay all employees by 2018 regardless of education.
That's a very short sighted way to look at it... I jumped from $40K to $65K within 2 years of passing. Depending on your career path a CPA can make upwards of $600K+. I knew the partner on Bank of America and he made $1.1 Million.
i started at age of 25 and it's took almost 5-6 years to graduated because i failed many units in uni but i don't give up and i got a job in a big company , never give up your dream , trust me accounting much better than driving truck , because you are a professional guy and people are respect you for that . accounting is not that easy but it's worthy .
I also want to start this I am new here in Canada so I want knowledge regarding this so can anyone pls help me in this? I am Postgraduate in Commerce I did my Master of Commerce in India.
Rajiv jaigopal wadhwa Don't quit Rajiv, life is fucking difficult sometimes. I would know but it's not about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep going. Don't let failure slow you down. You can still become very successful in accounting. The road is different for all of us but in the end if you are ambitious you will have the same result.
if you stop then you will suffer for the next 60 years. if you go for it, you just wasted 3 years behind. you can calculate the time value of money for that 5 years. so yes it is not late at all.. go for it.
Most people just get the CPA study material and then self-study for the exam. You could get admission to any colleges for the accounting major and then get all required credits to sit for the CPA exam.

depending on your country's professional regulatory policies, you might be required to take up the accountancy degree (in my country, it is in the law that BS Accountancy graduate are allowed to take the CPA licensure exams). There are other recognized certifications though, and did you thought it over if is accounting really what you want to do?

Well I'll glady take 70k I'm stuck at a boring bookkeeping job 6 years deep 30k salary. 😢
i just paased the CA CPA exam, all four of them. Next is ethics then i will be looking for a new job for the one year under a CPA supervisor... I hate this part but i need to do it. Other states don't have these requirements.
Can i get ur number.... Need to know further more about CPA....

CPA Exam Guide thank you
Thanks so much, this is great information!
I'm going to be completely honest: I have never met someone who is passionate about accounting. I have met plenty who are ''passive'' about it, and quite a few who flat out hate it...Passing the CPA isn't as hard as people say, it's just about studying properly and making sure you know stuff by heart....
Are u a cpa?
I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s not as hard as people say, maybe your just smarter than the average, and didn’t find it hard to pass or learn accounting. That is like saying playing a certain sport is easy, it depends, some people are not as coordinated and need time to learn or may find it more difficult to play than others.
Great video!!!
I am going to go for it after I graduate from accounting.
I am a student and this is my future career
👍👏🎉🎊😉 Good luck! You can do it!
Hello, I’m considering getting my CPA after I finish my last course in my masters in finance program. I’m currently a revenue accountant making 65k - how should I go about knowing if I have the requirements and where do you recommend I start? Five year goal - I would like to be a finance or accounting manager
Hey Aaron - I'd start here and follow the steps I lay out - www.cpaexamguide.com
You might also take my study personality quiz and select brand new cpa candidate.

CPA is only good for making your own opportunities.
can you elaborate
Love this!
I'm sure you know this but did you know you can SIT for the exam with only 120 credit hours?
Pass the cpa and worry about college credits later is my best advice.
Thank you for the honest video
Whatever it takes to hit your 150 credit hours and have the education background to get your dream accounting job :)
Thank you so much!☺️
You can get the extra classes at a Junior college. That’s what I did but obviously you can also get a Masters.
Stay in industry kids. Might take you longer to gain relevant experience. However the earnings are significantly better and your career trajectory can be quick if you work hard.
Will the CPA license I acquire from a certain State function in other states if I choose to work there?
No... License varies from state to state
The CPA license has reciprocity over all states. So, yea. You just have to contact the new state when you pass.
What area of accounting fo you suggest pays the best? I am almost done with my bachelor's and i work hard i wanna be the best accountant i can be
So public accounting is the best place to start. Private industry pays much better if you can get at least 3 years of public under your belt. 5 years is even better. If you avoid public it will be a long uphill battle to increase your salary.
also I know a private accountant no degree makes 10k a week on average he's just good squeeze some numbers on taxes look into a few holes
Does he have certs?
*coughbullshit*
After tax it will go down to 36 to 38 000.
This video really motivated me so thanks a lot bytheway how many months will it take to become a complete CPA from freshly participating in it?
I am so indecisive whether to begin again undergraduate program in accounting or there is any chance that my present international degree + 2 year in Master of Science in Accountancy will qualify me to sit for and get CPA license :(
What is the difference between CPA Canada and CPA US?
Ahmed Selim Different rules, in addition in quebec you must prove french knowledge, which is so unfaire to anglophones born in quebec, but not so for francaphones regardless of where they're from.
Thank you for responding ... is that mean that the only difference is in REG part?
Hey, thank you for your awesome video. May I ask you a question? I am currently enrolled in a business school majoring accounting and I plan to get some internships (with coop) during my bachelor and once I graduate my bachelor degree, I am willing to get directly to the CPA program (2 years) that my university offers. Is it a good idea studying for my cpa exams BEFORE staring my career? Because I feel like it will be "easier" to get in BIG 4 accounting firms with my cpa licence.
Hlo sir
I'm from Nepal and pursuing CA in India. So am I eligible for this course? And if yes or no, please let me know..
Thanks in advance

Yes you are eligible if you have passed your CA inter exams. Otherwise you have to do bcom+mcom do become eligible
I completed my cma in India now I want to do cpa in Canada how I can do cpa from india and after then I want to movie to Canada.
Do you have have bachelor degree to sit for cpa exam and can you take the exam on line
You have to have a bachelors degree to sit for the exam (with multiple upper level accounting courses) and 150 to receive your license once you pass.
Sir..
Does.. Cpa book contents changes after every year?
What are requirements for passing cpa exam?
Plzz reply😊
Yes, the content is updated every year. However, it’s not changed completely. As you know laws and regulations are changed every year, so the CPA exam content needs to catch up with current laws and regulations. The requirements for applying for the CPA exam are different in each state. However, the requirements for passing the CPA exam are all the same: Stay Focus, Determined, and Never Give Up. 😉
MI applied for Membership of CPA Australia. I have master of commerce and 3 years experience with CA in india
Now I living in Newzealand and resident of Nz
Can I claim my experience
Also finishing at late age 29-30
(As compared to what I have seen some guys finish CPA by age 24-26 )
Will it effect my possibility of getting into Big 4 or Big Company or Big firms??
Is there any way in which I can enhance my value that sets off my late age / or no of attempts?? And I become a better CPA ?? Pls advice 🙏
All the CPA's annual salary of $65,000 will be gone paying your mortgage, car payment, and other utilities bill. The cycle repeat for the rest of your life.
I enjoyed your presentation. Jorge
This is not including the opportunity cost of returning to college...
So like CA and CPA are same or not?
Same
Just different names in different countries
That is false. CPA is unique to the United States. A CA is not recognized in the US as a CPA.
but 65k a year isn't that much?
That's national average across the nation, at all experience ranges. Screen the criteria by major city and years of experience.
Are your parents related? 65k as a starting point is a good salary. Granted, it's not a doctor or lawyer's salary, but you do realize you have high earning potential over the course of your career.
video title says 2021, released 2016, seems legit

Ahead_of_ all I would do bachelors in finance and masters in accounting because the accounting info will be fresher in your mind than if you took it years ago in undergrad. If you use a cpa review course, you should be able to see information in that review course lining up with classes
Does your current company provide continuing education credit opportunities? Or do you have to seek them out and pay for them on your own. Is that a pain? Do you know if work for government if they offer continuing education credits like public firms? Thanks

Eligibility to do cpa
do u have the license of cpa or the certificate??
Ritesh Mital the whole video is literally about his experience becoming one, did you not listen to a single word?
How much a fresher CPA earn on an average? And do you have any Idea about the demand of a CPA in India?
Of course I make a significant amount more now that I'm 8 years into my career.
thank you for the video

Hi,
I am from India, I want to have ebook of CPA course topics. I tried sending you the message but didn't worked. Can you please help in sharing the e-book please.
Thanks 😊
CPA Exam Guide keep dreaming, cpa is no longer respected. MBA is what people should get
Michael Lawn that’s a bold face lie. There are things that a person with a MBA CANNOT due by LAW, that a CPA can
maxbass that’s also not take home money either. So probably around 40-50k
If your goal is to make money then accounting is the wrong field. But yes, you should become cpa if you are an accountant.
How about $1 million annually.
Absolutely, Phil Knight the founder of Nike is a CPA and a billionaire :)
He got his start working for PwC and leveraged that exerience and his CPA.

Never too late!!! Go back man
Rajiv jaigopal wadhwa Don't quit Rajiv, life is fucking difficult sometimes. I would know but it's not about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep going. Don't let failure slow you down. You can still become very successful in accounting. The road is different for all of us but in the end if you are ambitious you will have the same result.
if you stop then you will suffer for the next 60 years. if you go for it, you just wasted 3 years behind. you can calculate the time value of money for that 5 years. so yes it is not late at all.. go for it.
Please can an African especially Ghanaian qualify to get admission to get CPA institution in US? Please reply me.
Most people just get the CPA study material and then self-study for the exam. You could get admission to any colleges for the accounting major and then get all required credits to sit for the CPA exam.
