I liked Assault Horizon. Not as an Ace Combat game but as a game in general. That was technically my first ace combat, I played the Ace Combat 6 demo first on the 360 but never bought the full game. Ace Combat X was one of the best games for the PSP, one of those novel games optimized as much as possible for the hardware.
NO. No. Shhhhh. Sh sh shh. I skip all the cutscenes except for the derpfaces in the tank. The gameplay of 6 was great and the in-mission characters (namely Snake Pit and the captain of the Marigold) were awesome, but those cutscenes were _garbage_
Oh man, once the Ace Combat 4 intro started…cue the nostalgia!! So many hours in that game I cannot even begin to guess how many times I played it all the way through! Hell of a job on the video!!
@@victuz it is awesome i play this game since release and there are so awesome moments in the game but the story is a bit weak but you will feel like this one awesome pilot who change the course of a war so i used the word awesome 3 times this means you have to give it a try
@@maximilianschmitz9397 if you thought the storyline was lacking, see if you can nab a copy of Airforce Delta Strike for the PS2. It's a similar plot as AC7 with space and secret alien meanie, but a really fleshed out plot.
@@maximilianschmitz9397 I've acquired AC7 soon after asking that question. No regrets. My only complaint would be story, it lacks flavour and deepness, but if Bandai Namco is willing to invest more on the franchise for future titles, then I can turn a blind eye for the AC7's story issues.
I actually like assault horizon a lot I don't categorize it with my other ace combat games since it's completely different game style. But the pros of it for me was the ability to pilot helicopters and actual bombers. Also I like the overhead bomber view, it reminds me of my favorite mission from CoD 4
After playing "Turn and Burn: No-Fly zone" on the SNES back in the days, I got me a Playstation 1. "Air Combat" was the first combat flight simulator I got back then. It was a real step-up for me, and I still have good memories playing it with my younger brother. :)
AC04 was the first Ace Combat i've played and (together with the Holy Trinity altogether) it holds a very dear place in my heart until this very day. I've even imported the OST directly from Japan because i loved it that much.
I was introduced to the series with Fires of Liberation years after its released, and I was blown away with its game play, story and OST. I fell in love with 6, and finished 7 shortly after that one came out. I gotta say, Ace Combat and MGS are two of my favorite series
I feel like I'm the weird one for Skies of Deception being my favorite even though it's a portable title. Idk why. The gameplay, missions, aircraft, realism, sci fi, player freedom, and story were just all spot on for me. I can't believe that I put hundreds and hundreds of hours on my PSP just for that game.
No it’s Definitely A looked over Gem ! I’d say it’s even better than Zero because of Features, Flight Model, 6 Colors, Option to Change Craft From Pause Screen
Oh gosh, so much to talk about. First off, the Belkan war was among my favourite titles, the live action cutscenes were such a nice touch. Assault Horizon didn't have the heart of the franchise, and didn't play as well, but you have to admit it did look stunning...
That PS2 run of Ace Combat games brings back some of the best feelings of my childhood - 4, 5, & 0 - finally decided to jump back in with 7 recently and so far I've got the same goosebumps
As a long time fan of the series I can say that 7 was a successful return to what 4, 5, and zero gave us, which was indeed the feeling of a great solo ace pilot and a good story to go with it. If there ever is an 8 they would be wise to stay with strangereal
Take a Mig-31, max the speed, don't stop for anything, fire LAAMs at extreme range, and don't forget to mine all the salt while you outrun every missile fired at you.
Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies was one of the first games I ever played. We were low income so we didn't even get the ps2 until the ps3 was out. Naturally, lacking many games, I played it to 100% completion and replayed it for quite some time. Hearing that intro soundtrack sent a shiver down my spine and I love it. I found Ace Combat 7 to be amazing and a wonderful return to form for the gameplay
I have a confession I’ve only played ac7 and assault horizon at least I played ac7 with the Flight stick and throttle which is more realistic and fun tbh. But I watch full campaigns of all ace combats
Crud well when your a fighter pilot I bet it’d be easier becuase I think there in between your legs and the throttled on the right or left depending on cockpit
A very lovely introduction effort into every part of this flight simulator franchaise! Thank you! Bought lately almost all of those games on japanese market. Really love the 3rd part and guess im pretty ready to get aknown with another parts :D
I played through Ace Combat 4 so many times between 2004 to 2006. It was such a fun game. Until this video, I had completely forgotten there was a 3rd person view. I think it's time I dust off my copy and play it again.
Damn, now I remember the friggin ace combat I first played, which is Zero, i friggin loved it when I was like 7, now im a 17 year old guy enjoying Skies Unknown
As an Ace Combat fan since i was a child, starting with the ps2 era games and falling in love with them, i never stopped being a hardcore fan since, and i approve this video, you summarized every game pretty well, and im glad it has gotten much attention as the ace combat series is very underrated.
Great video. It's a pity the world didn't get to enjoy the original version of 3. I was stationed in Japan and since I was still pretty new there new nothing of the language. Needless to say I had no idea what the hell I was doing or which choice was the best etc.. I think it holds the title of my most replayed game trying to play every branching decision. Plus that space mission was unforgettable. I also remember the Namco team coming to tour my ship in preparation for Ace Combat 4. The USS. Kittyhawk is Japans template for when they need to create an aircraft carrier. And as someone who led the ships fire department I wasn't exactly thrilled watching her sink in Ace Combat 5 and Macross Zero.
One thing that always is amazing to me how ace combat is so unique in that it uses cutscenes almost exclusively in 2nd person. It's amazing. With how It gets the story across.
I remember being at my dad's and finding it with his PS2 he had bought a year or two ago back in 2016. My first introduction into it and I fell in love with it the moment I loaded the first mission up. Was so good I got genuinely hyped to play Ace Combat 7, despite only playing one game in the series
This is my absolute favorite video game series of all time. I have owned and played every game in the series. I appreciate this video. Awesome content. Thanks for making this!!
0:00 - 0:42 .. Invoke theme from Ace Combat 2. Damn that brought back memories. Still to this day my personal favorite entry with quite possibly the best overall soundtrack top to bottom.
Your hope was well placed, I was a small kid when i first played ace combat on the ps2 with my dad, and always hoped to get something like that back one day, and they certainly hit the spot with ace combat 7, can´t stop playing it. Excelent video
My man here playing F-16 Aggressor in 00:42. Almost had me flashbacking to 2005, took me a couple of years to find out how to fire a missile in that game (english ain't my first language, so it took me some time to learn stuff).
Assault horizon was a great game. I loved the diversity of the missions as one mission you're flying a F22 and the next a B-1 lancer. Im kinda sad i didn't see that in skies unknown
Me too, plus flying the Apache in a couple of missions, manning a Black Hawk's Minigun in a couple more and even the one in which you man the guns of an AC-130U...the bomber mission is certainly one of my faves...getting to rain hell from above with a good ol' carpet bombing run...good times...
You explained the series brilliantly and I thank you. I loved the series during the PS2 days. I played Ace Combat 7 and was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the return to the good days, but it just wasn't the same.
Ace combat 7 was my introduction and I am hooked! I loved the idea of being a top gun in the air and that’s all I thought it was but this franchise has such an immerse background and details
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown would go on to be the most successful title in the franchise, with over 2.5 million copies sold in the first year, surpassing Ace Combat 4.

I skip all the cutscenes except for the derpfaces in the tank. The gameplay of 6 was great and the in-mission characters (namely Snake Pit and the captain of the Marigold) were awesome, but those cutscenes were _garbage_
Ding
OOZ662 The Marigold admiral had a great voice actor. Ship missions were always fun too.
OOZ662 the cutscenes were pretty good in my opinion.
8:13 the start of the intro gave me amazing childhood flashbacks
Same here. Its my first AC btw
@@chillguynamedwan1034 same :), its actually my first console game ever
I missed this franchise so much... Some of my fondest memories from the PS2 times came from AC4, AC5 and Zero
Oh man, once the Ace Combat 4 intro started…cue the nostalgia!! So many hours in that game I cannot even begin to guess how many times I played it all the way through! Hell of a job on the video!!
You sold me! I'm gonna play Ace Combat 7 now (RIP wallet and free time). I didn't realize how many Ace Combat games came out.
And now, how was it?
I hope you enjoyed it as much as i did :) the only thing missing was a co op mode
@@victuz it is awesome i play this game since release and there are so awesome moments in the game but the story is a bit weak
but you will feel like this one awesome pilot who change the course of a war
so i used the word awesome 3 times this means you have to give it a try
I've even imported the OST directly from Japan because i loved it that much.
ah zero the belkan war my favorite game of the series i still pull out the ps2 sometimes for this game
Me too. It's my favorite to this day. It had a real positive impact in my life too
I was introduced to the series with Fires of Liberation years after its released, and I was blown away with its game play, story and OST.
After understanding the lore of the series, I see now that the devs really loved Area 88.
That PS2 run of Ace Combat games brings back some of the best feelings of my childhood - 4, 5, & 0 - finally decided to jump back in with 7 recently and so far I've got the same goosebumps
The three arrow heads emblem from AC4 is free DLC.
As a long time fan of the series I can say that 7 was a successful return to what 4, 5, and zero gave us, which was indeed the feeling of a great solo ace pilot and a good story to go with it. If there ever is an 8 they would be wise to stay with strangereal
Yeah maybe a follow up to 7 or maybe a recall ti old Acea. I want mobius 1 back in moderna strangereal
Can't tell you how many times i played the ac5 story. It was so damn good and kept me repeating it over and over again.
note to anyone that’s gonna give ace combat 7 a shot. when in multiplayer, please do not spam those qaam missiles. thank you
Months later and I still haven't tried the online multiplayer for the game.
SnicketySlice oh trust me it was way better in the first two months. not a lot of qaam users. now there’s about 4-6 f-22 no matter the game mode.
@@mrnissan3262 I just my xo-2 wyvern

I got to play AC3: Electrosphere in my PS1... childhood memories...
My onyl experience with this series thus far has been Ace Combat 6. I actually loved it.
Love how the SAAB Draken manages to have a worse turn time in an arcade game then in a partial simulator like War Thunder
But I watch full campaigns of all ace combats
>tfw can't use flight stick because left handed :(
Crud well when your a fighter pilot I bet it’d be easier becuase I think there in between your legs and the throttled on the right or left depending on cockpit
I want a stick throttle.
A very lovely introduction effort into every part of this flight simulator franchaise! Thank you!
Bought lately almost all of those games on japanese market. Really love the 3rd part and guess im pretty ready to get aknown with another parts :D
It's not a simulator
@@roystercg Do you feel better about your self ?
Ace Combat Zero is the game that brought me into the series
AC2 for me.
Brother. We must destroy. BELKA
Me too. 🙋
It's still my favorite in the whole series
Me too
8:19 aaaaaaaaand there's the goosebumps
Ace Combat 4 is where I started and I have been hooked on the series ever since!
I played through Ace Combat 4 so many times between 2004 to 2006. It was such a fun game. Until this video, I had completely forgotten there was a 3rd person view. I think it's time I dust off my copy and play it again.
GO DANCE WITH THE ANGELS.
Hell yeah ac6 was cool too dammit!
the razgriz does not dance
It had a great soundtrack! I enjoyed the story too!
I picked up ace combat in AC4, i loved it ever since. Thanks for making this video,
Damn, now I remember the friggin ace combat I first played, which is Zero, i friggin loved it when I was like 7, now im a 17 year old guy enjoying Skies Unknown
You still alive?..budy...
There's a fan made english patch for Japanese version 3lectrosphere, you should try it
Why isn’t this Comment Highlighted ?
Luichin Playstation
Can’t you just Amazon it ? The Original AC3 ?
One thing that always is amazing to me how ace combat is so unique in that it uses cutscenes almost exclusively in 2nd person. It's amazing. With how It gets the story across.
I'll never forget the day my friend put Ace Combat 4 in his new PS2. That entire game is legendary.
I remember being at my dad's and finding it with his PS2 he had bought a year or two ago back in 2016. My first introduction into it and I fell in love with it the moment I loaded the first mission up. Was so good I got genuinely hyped to play Ace Combat 7, despite only playing one game in the series
Bro! When that ace combat 4 soundtrack hit I got PUMPED! Man I miss that game, my first ace combat game
Ever since I played AC7, I've been wanting to play more Ace Combat games. Specifically, AC6 and Zero just for the music and story respectively
This is my absolute favorite video game series of all time. I have owned and played every game in the series. I appreciate this video. Awesome content. Thanks for making this!!
AC5 is hands down one of the best storyline game ever! I still play it just for that!
0:00 - 0:42 .. Invoke theme from Ace Combat 2. Damn that brought back memories. Still to this day my personal favorite entry with quite possibly the best overall soundtrack top to bottom.
Ace Combat 1 & 2 are Very Nostalgic Even if you never played them !!
That's just how good they are as Classics In general !!
I started playing Ace Combat with #3...The stories are incredible
As soon as he mentioned ace combat 4 I was so happy, that game started my childhood
You mentioned how it was a big deal that your character is regarded as a legend and they really did that great in 7
Thanks for this man, you convinced me to pick up an offer for 4 and 5 on the PS2!
i love how everybody shares their memories about this masterpiece game
Your hope was well placed, I was a small kid when i first played ace combat on the ps2 with my dad, and always hoped to get something like that back one day, and they certainly hit the spot with ace combat 7, can´t stop playing it. Excelent video
Unsung War was my favorite. The intro is engrained in my main frame
My man here playing F-16 Aggressor in 00:42.
Almost had me flashbacking to 2005, took me a couple of years to find out how to fire a missile in that game (english ain't my first language, so it took me some time to learn stuff).
What game is this if you don’t mind me asking?
I’ve always loved ACAH’s theme. It really took me into the game
I started at ACE Combat 4 and have been hooked ever since.
@@SuperHornetPilot yeah and the one mission where you flew strike bombers like the NightHawk or the Frogfoot to destroy the enemy fleet
@@Not_Noodl Ah yes, including a Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier that took a few ASM runs to fully take out...I usually flew the Su-34 on that one.
That Ace Combat 4 soundtrack hit me hard with nostalgia. Nice vid.
Awesome video. Shame so few people watched it.
GREAT video and review. One of my favorite franchises ever. Can’t wait for the next one.

The 3DS maneuvers reminds me of the Sky Crawlers game's maneuvers.
That was also Project Aces so I guess it makes sense.
You explained the series brilliantly and I thank you. I loved the series during the PS2 days. I played Ace Combat 7 and was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the return to the good days, but it just wasn't the same.
Trigger will show you the way!
Mobius One: Am I a joke to you?
I would love to see a remastered HD collection of all the mainline ace Combat games, including the Original Japanese Version of Ace Combat 3
I remember playing the psp one so much, i had to get extras of it.
Dang, that Ace Combat 5 music is sick dude! Earned a sub!
The irony being that AC7 sets up the world, more or less, for Electrosphere, tying the entire series together...like Uroborus.
Ace combat 7 was my introduction and I am hooked! I loved the idea of being a top gun in the air and that’s all I thought it was but this franchise has such an immerse background and details
I fucking loved ace combat 3... and it was the hardest Ace combat to date.. the missle homing is insane..
I got introduced to Ace Combat by my friend after he showed me the ADF-01 Falken. So I’m trying to learn about this game series.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown would go on to be the most successful title in the franchise, with over 2.5 million copies sold in the first year, surpassing Ace Combat 4.
It's sold over 4 million, as of November 17 2022, making it the best selling in ac history
