  • WELCOME to the documentary series "The Marginalized" . This series presents an open and frank discussion of populations in America that are considered inferior or beneath us. This is an analysis of the conscious and unconscious treatment of these populations by our nation and by those who
    hold the power.
Working While Black: Will African Americans ever obtain equal pay in the workplace?
The first installment of CAN TV's new docuseries, The Marginalized, examines the
systems and beliefs that continue to deny Black people parity in the American
workforce. Working While Black examines the historic drivers of inequity; the oft
unspoken hierarchy known as the American caste system, a system that 'castes'
Black people as inferior to the ruling class. A difficult conversation to be sure, but a
conversation well-worthy having, and one the viewer won't soon forget.

Blacks need to figure out how to own their own successful businesses is one way to change the system.
    P. S. Govt/state jobs or public service positions typically have unrestricted access to everyone’s salary. I used it to my advantage in asking for a raise. I was asked WHY I wanted a raise? I provided proof of educational attainment, and value added services I provided to the organization and was given a substantial increase and more high profile assignments But NO PROMOTION to a higher position.
Bottom line, sometimes it helps to ask for what you know you deserve based on merit and your value to the company in the area of your earnings compared to your white co-workers salary.
In closing, I eventually left the company due to no career growth. The salary increases boosted my earnings in getting more money at the new job/career.
    Best wishes!
