    Lyrics
    They say Paris is dead
Lived through London and drank through Memphis
The things you live by were once just a guess
And there ain’t no glory in the west
No there ain’t no glory in the west
Hard to think on your feet
Tired of begging them just to compete
Shoot to win can feel so bittersweet
But you take what you can get
’Cause there ain’t no glory in the west
Blazin’ on ahead - burning through it
Coming down the bend - nowhere left to go, goin’s all we know
Ridin’ past the best - and there’s still no rest
    And there’s still no rest
There ain’t no glory in the west
    What’s a boy to do?
Hit the road with a dollar or two
Haunted by what he knows he can’t do
    Gets it off his chest
’Cause there ain’t no glory in the west
Burnin’ on ahead - blazing through it
Running blind again - nowhere left to go, goin’s all we know
Ridin’ past the best - and there’s still no rest
    And there’s still no rest
    And there’s still no rest
There ain’t no glory in the west
    Count your blessings they’ll say
And after each midnight begins a new day
But don’t place your bets on a word that they say
They’ll put your life to rest
’Cause there ain’t no glory in the west
No there ain’t no glory in the west
There ain’t no glory in the west

They're songs I've somehow known and loved before, songs that will be remembered decades from now, even when I'm hearing them for the first time. I've never experienced this with any other artist.

Canada bekons thee GOOD SIR! Deffinitly KINGSTON OR OTTAWA, But I'd happily nomad myself to MONTREAL OR TORONTO, heck even my birth town EDMONTON, or nearby CALGARY
Many of your songs have helped me through some incredibly dark times, I won't get into too much of the variety of details that caused the numerous black clouds, which seem to stalk me as of late. Although i will share the one this song specifically has helped me keep on going, despite caregiver burn out and heavy depression.
I had been the primary caregiver for both my parents until covid restricted the hell out of their isolated community. At this point, I've also become their power of attourney.
When my father retired from CND Military, they moved north in Ontario. Nice rural area, deer, wild turkey, hawks, porqupine ect regularly visiting their yard for my dads feedings, he used to hunt and trap pest animals and volunteered his non military time as a deputy conservation officer, in C.F.B Wainwright Alberta and C.F.B. Borden Ont. to catch poachers.
His isolated retirement choice was stunning for living off the land and fully feeling a part of nature. (The nearest village 700 people in and around)
All the personal support workers and nurses who came regularly to the house helped me try to keep them home as long as possible but their health got so bad my fathers doctor talked them into trying an independant care home in the nearest town with hospital. He was an older soldier, yet a true gentleman.
When covid started peaking out, they were preparing for the indepent living center, auctioned almost everything, including car, snowmobiles, polaris side by side vehicle, freezer, furniture, etc. (except my 22 lever action rifle that he taught me to shoot with)
My estranged brother was gone from their lives for over 20 years and is an abusive and neglectful older brother. He showed up like vultures do and talked mom into staying for the winter, even though he has no experience paying bills, cannot drive, never has had a job, no even welfare so bad person to give access to their line of credit and bank cards. He didn't even try to help them, only himself. My father then chose to attempt to stay out of worry for my mothers safety and well-being. Brother faked getting them grocceries so neighbours might drive him to the village (liquor stores across from groccers) and was misappropriating over $300 every 3 days on brandy, champagne ect. He began trashing an immaculate house, stealing family heirlooms and belongings that were not his. Elder abuse both physical and mental.
Sadly, I had to accept moms and dads choices as adults. All i could do was sit and wait, sick with anxiety. This is when your music, and especially this song, became a major healer and helped more than words can say.
I was working on peer support and outreach work with a local harm reduction clinic in my city, an hour train ride from their nearest station, then hour to hour n half $100+ cab from train. Right away, i kept getting calls from the nurses and PSWs who go in the home to shower them and things about the abuse and neglect, etc. (Bless those women and men for putting their jobs at risk by keeping me informed, though the local police took their concerns like jokes)
Dads doctor put him into an emergency hospital bed and refused to let him return home after approximately 5 months of the crap treatment and after almost daily ambulance visits.
Those 5 months were destroying me, knowing what was occurring, yet being unable to do anything to help them into a safe place. My brother tried putting a "Do Not Resuscitate" order on dad against his will and was overdosing mom on oxygene so she seemed like she had dementia By Oct 2020, the hospital got the skeleton that once was my hero, my dad, into a care home. My brother stopped answering the phone or letting mom. Your music reminded me that at least dad was safe and to just focus on him. He's done so many U.N. peacekeeper deployments, dealt with genocide, and deserved what little glory i could give him considering covid restrictions.
By the upcoming rememberance day that year, no one at the house was answering or returning his or my calls asking to have his medals, formal blazer, and beret brought to him for the care home veterans event. I was livid, as that has been a special day for he and I to attend a ceremony in the town that my grandfather, who was killed in WW2, is from, although his body was MIA. To dad and I, it's more important than any other holiday or event in the year. I refused to let him go without his well-earned pride and glory on such a special day.
I grabbed your music onto my phone and hopped the late earliest train on the 10th, took the cab to house, not knowing if mom was alive, and what level of drunken rage or aggressive brother would be there. Got out my keys, went straight to dads army stash, and grabbed it all. Stayed the night in his hunting/trapping cabin ironing, polishing boots and medals, & and getting each item perfected.
I am proud to say he was beaming with pride when nurses from all the different wards and administrators were taping his full history as it was read out. Many residents thanked him for his service. Your song helped me give him glory that he truly deserved the one last time. By the next year, his mind was a bit too gone to know it was remembrance day, but the drum major in him recognized the pipebands, and the drum major in him tapped along to the snares.
He passed peacefully on Oct 22nd this year, and yet again, this song empowered me to give him the send-off and honorable wake he always wanted. I was able to get a detailed and unredacted copy of his full military history from 1959s enlistment until retirement in 1996. I brought in his drum major mace and pace sticks, which are displayed in a custom-made shelf with deactivated bomb shells. It was made by the men he trained and worked with while a royal electrical mechanical engineer, and it is beyond unique. We displayed countless items from his career as a soldier, conservation officer, search and rescue volunteer, and an outdoor sportsman raised to treat nature as a mother, in true aboriginal nature.
Numerous people, military, civilian, and the heads of our local legion branch attended. Everone agreed that the displays and slideshows honored a man who truly deserved it, although he always acted selflessly and never sought glory.
Sorry for the length of this but THANK YOU ETERNALLY! So many empowering songs have poured from you. This one especially helped heal me enough to keep going at the countless moments glory felt unreachable. And it brought glory to a man who built his career in the west and peace to his daughter that was born in the west.

It took me some time to recognize what this song meant. The older I get the more I feel it. The cowboy traveling through his adventure only to come to a hollow empty home. A lot of us are feeling this way. We try so hard to get there, wherever it is. We think it will fix our problems. We think it will make everything better. But the joy in life comes from the journey. We love in a world that will most likely disappoint us. And it's hard and lonely yet we wander away.

Living out an intense internal life and telling stories to no one, waiting for the chance to perform this perfect narrative you’ve been preparing for when you finally have someone to talk to, waiting and thinking and being stuck inside your head... and then finding that you’re still alone... I shouldn’t be surprised that others can relate but damn it always hits me hard when that feeling gets portrayed.

I love it! I don't assume to interpret art properly, but it makes me think of a cowboy doing everything he can to make it home to someone or something only to find the house empty and cold.
But who is he coming back to? Family? A lover? An entire settlement abandoned?
    Intriguing.

Oh. You sing country AND western music both? ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎 Amazing.
This song exemplifies exactly what’s wrong with entertainment from Hollyweird to Nashvegas: we have to dig deep to find the real talent out here. If music and movies were “fair” this song would win Best Original Song at the Oscars, Mr. Peck’s arms would be overloaded with awards at the next CMA’s, and if I wanted to see him perform live I wouldn’t have to do a 5 day cruise outta Miami-I can’t cruise anymore-too old. Anyway…you’re amazing, #OrvillePeck I can’t wait for my husband to come home from work so I can let him listen to you. He’s gonna love your music, too. We will celebrate Valoween 2024 kitchen dancing to your music! Thank you.

This is a postcard from a country called Pain. He writes to say: “wish you were here”. It’s harsh there, you can even hear the blackheart wind, but the scenery is lush and beautiful, despite all the thorns. He writes to us all, us here in the country called The Wasteland.

Lived through London and drank through Memphis
The things you live by were once just a guess
And there ain't no glory in the west
No there ain't no glory in the west
Hard to think on your feet
Tired of begging them just to compete
Shoot to win can feel so bittersweet
But you take what you can get
'Cause there ain't no glory in the west
Blazin' on ahead, burning through it
    Coming down the bend
Nowhere left to go, goin's all we know
    Ridin' past the best
    And there's still no rest
    And there's still no rest
There ain't no glory in the west
    What's a boy to do?
Hit the road with a dollar or two
Haunted by what he knows he can't do
    Gets it off his chest
'Cause there ain't no glory in the west
Burnin' on ahead, blazing through it
    Running blind again
Nowhere left to go, goin's all we know
    Ridin' past the best
    And there's still no rest
    And there's still no rest
    And there's still no rest
There ain't no glory in the west
    Count your blessings they'll say
And after each midnight begins a new day
But don't place your bets on a word that they say
They'll put your life to rest

I won't claim to interpret it truthfully, but only what it made me feel. It was about choosing a path for yourself, however lonely may it be, a path that will one day end, and there might not even be glory await at the end, but despite all this, this is the path you choose, and for a moments of riding along this path, you are happy, and that's all that matters. I'm a person who cry very easily but this made me feel such beautiful thing that I can not cry at that. It is a good feeling, it is comforting, somehow. This song is as beautiful as the time I heard it live back in Brisbane, Australia

!! i live in a country in Asia where a great portion of our economy relies on labor export to the west (especially USA). the first time i heard this song it struck me so personally bc incidental to that is an idealization of the american dream. "there's no glory in the west" mirrors the disillusionment in realizing that it is not what it's cracked up to be. at the end of the day, ur working a low-income job with zero regard for ur health, surrounded by people who view u as the "other" and at times may even be hostile, and so far away from home and the ppl u love.

This so perfectly captures the essence of media about the end of cowboys and the wild west era as time moved on and technology progressed until they could no longer live the glory days life style that cowboys came to represent. From the long journey on horse to coming home to an empty farm house, where the family you once knew has moved on to the big city and left that life behind. Those days may be in the pass but music like this keeps the essence of the wild west alive
