Lyrics
I can see the sadness in your eyes
You’ve been tryna hide what you left behind
They say it’s darkest before the dawn
But you’ve been smiling for so long
A thousand teardrops can’t be wrong - no
I don’t want you to be afraid
Let me see you cry - oh I
I got an hour or so, take my hand and let it go
Call me up anytime - c’mon baby, cry
I can tell you’re sad, boy - just like me
Baby, don’t deny what your poor heart needs
Been so long since he called your name
On the run from a losing game
Just bat your eyes, baby - let me feel the pain
I don’t want you to be afraid
Let me see you cry - oh I
I got an hour or so, take my hand and let it go
Call me up anytime - c’mon baby, cry
Three words everybody knows
Must be nice where lovers go
Take my hand, don’t let it go - just cry
I don’t want you to be afraid
Let me see you cry - oh I
I got an hour or so, take my hand, darlin’ let it go
Call me up anytime - c’mon baby
I don’t want you to be afraid
Let me see you cry - oh I
I got an hour or so, take my hand and let it go
You can call me up anytime - c’mon baby, cry
C’mon baby, cry
C’mon baby

Honestly one of the best voices in music, ever.
Best thing was the duett with paul cauthen.. unbelievable
Kyle, i respect you for your science, and now i respect you for your music taste. orville is a beast!
His vocal range is amazing! Sometimes he sounds like Johnny Cash, sometimes like Glen Campbell, but I guess most of the time he just sounds like Orville Peck, and that's amazing!
He sounds like a cross between Johnny Cash and Chris Issac
dude what are doing here
this is the most random crossover of my interests
What Lil NAS X has done for rap Orville Peck is doing it for Country music. His presence and voice is so captivating. I’m a proud fan and this song is a genius poetry for men to show their vulnerability. Absolutely beautiful.
except Orville's music is actually good
We’ll said
Dude this song is horrible in every way.
@@bookiemane407 why are you here then? If you don’t enjoy the song then why is this comment even necessary?
lil nas the tenth is more of a pop star than a rapper though but yeah agreed
I just wanna be able to hang out with friends that wanna listen to Orville Peck with me. Is that too much to ask??? 😩❤️
Same ✨❤️🖤❤️✨
Never related to something more
when are we hanging out then
People suck... just listen to Orville with a good dog....
If you’re friends don’t like Orville Peck, they have poor taste.
I absolutely love what Peck is doing with the genre. There hasn't been a queer voice in country since k.d. lang that is able to modernize with a classic sound.
Charley Crockett
You forgot Dwight Yoakam
Why does who someone sleeps with matter? He’s talented musically and that has nothing to do with who he goes home with. I hate how ppl judge someone on their sexuality instead of appreciating their actual talent
@@jennylee5003 Huh? He's an openly gay man who includes trans and gay people in his videos for visibility. It matters, because he WANTS it to matter.
Trixie Mattel?
It's refreshing to find a song where a man encourages another man to unhide his emotions and sadness. I absolutely respect that~
Girl they're gay
@@zacharycorolla4665 i mean the theme is still there. yes it’s about a rebound and allowing yourself to mourn a failed relationship but it’s also about machismo and tensions with masculinity and repression that all men deal with, especially gay men.
(Also yeah ik your reply was a joke but as a very emotionally repressed person this song means a lot lol)
Cry To Me by IDLES is good too!
Yas❤🔥
Humanity is so beautiful in all its diversity. Love this guy (yeah I'm straight)
As a former dancer, I can tell he’s trained as a dancer too. He has the most beautiful hands and arms. 😆
I was thinking that his movements were so naturally fluid. But him having dance training makes a lot of sense.
@@wren6311 they are. So fluid. Yeah I read that he trained as a a ballerina for quite some time. He’s beautiful 😍
@@HB-yg3ke he went to an acting conservatory, which explains the dance+singing training as well
@@ABBAyaga for sure. I believe it said he studied ballet for 12 years. Muscle memory 😅
This song is easy to dance to as well
Country finally came out of the closet. It’s about time. I’m happy your living your best life.
You will be huge, I'm just saying. This song is BIG. I'm not a fan of most country. However, this is THE country I'd always hope would come back. Something made me click this, I'm so glad I did. I love the chords you use, and how you sing, so artful and experimental.
This right here! This is the origin sound of country almost rockabilly that we lost in the 80s and 90s and took a long ass detour....til now ❤
I mean it’s marketing to some extent too, right? I love Orville but I’d argue his crossover appeal is largely due to being openly gay and having a high fashion aesthetic more than making more traditional country. Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton have been making music like this for years but those artists weren’t marketed to a hipper audience so they don’t have that kind of indie cred an artist like Orville or even Kacey Musgraves has. But their music is very similar.
@@magicvalley3980 Interesting observation. Orville is approaching country from a different perspective and leaving out the small-town mentality. Orville being gay completely contradicts everything that country personifies. He skips over the worst parts of 80s -90s country and delves into the classic old sound which is exactly what so much new-country avoids.
Just listened to Tim Mcgraw......not appealing at all.
@@danielb.4461 I’m not knocking anyones music, I’m just saying, let’s acknowledge that his story and the glossy cinematography of videos like this are a big part of the draw. if you stripped the context away and left the music on its own, I really don’t think it’s all that different than the country pop that’s come out in the past twenty years. Artists like Lady Gaga work the same way. I don’t think they’re bad artists, I just think sometimes people credit them with being these profound musical innovators when the true innovation is their visuals and backstories.
Showed this to my conservative catholic 72 yr old aunt. She loves country music and we’re going to see him at the Ryman. She adored this. I’m so excited.
Just absolutely gorgeous in every conceivable manner. The visuals, the performance, the theming. Every second is always a delight. There's so much poignant emotion in every frame.
I didn't expect this to sound the way it did, absolutely love it.
i love it so much
and his TIMING
I swear I hear Elvis in this voice:)
Yup, a dull fledged gay Elvis
I hear Johnny cash
I love how he can seem to effortlessly tap into the zeitgeist of very specific musical eras and genres, somehow making these songs sound both timelessly nostalgic and fresh.
Yeah, I’ve been hearing this song on the radio at work and I thought it must be an older song, imagine my surprise.
I am a 74 year old lady and I am in love. His voice just cuts into my heart. Can't stop listening.
every time i see orville peck i think 'shit i gotta start wearing way more sequins and fringe'
This song is incredible. The guitar arrangement is absolutely perfect. Peck's voice is breathtaking. The lyrics are fantastic. And this video, holy shit. When his suit lit up in the dark- are you kidding me?! Well done to everyone involved.
Love this man and his message. I'm straight full disclosure. Orville and his songs have absolutely floored me. He hits you right in the gut with emotion and I am a better person for it. The world needs Orville
no one care if you straight or bi or gay or whatever 😫😂
its ok you really didnt have to clarify your orientation....in fact is weird af
I’m also straight and love Orville Peck.
@@patriotsarego9671 do you normally consider your sexual when deciding if you like certain music? pretty weird my guy
@@ryanoneal8480 nah. Just trying to show support to Orville. But it sounds to me that you’re bothered that I like his music and I’m not gay. 🤔 Orville will not be happy with that.
As a big Glen Campbell fan, this is hitting me in all the best ways.
I agree - it totally reminds me of the Glen Campbell songs of my youth.
I am glad others hear it too.
Glen Campbell sound with a Roy Orbison voice. Pretty fucking awesome.
Flan Campbell? This is nothing like glens music. More like kid 60s Roy Orbison.
Who is he?
I'm gonna tell my kids this was healthy masculinity.
I can't stop listening to this song on repeat. Its one of those songs that you just have to listen to over and over.
Truth. I have listened to it 50 times already today and haven't gotten sick of it.
To be bestowed another Orville Peck masterpiece on my birthday is the best thing I could have ever hoped for. Also, was that Margaret Cho and Kornbread in the crowd of bar ladies? You rule even more if so.
Happy belated birthday!
@@seriousmoonlight1160 Thank you!
Our girl Kornbread💘
he released it for you
I just discovered Orville and I am absolutely mesmerized! The vocal range and emotions behind each song captivates me and I find myself wanting more. We have needed a shakeup in country and this voice is long overdue! I am so in love. 🥰❤️🥰❤️
One day I’ll be able to see the last third of the video through my tears but it is not this day
It is powerful stuff from Orville. Check out the videos for Let me Drown, The curse of the blackened eye, Hexie mountains, and Daytona sand. All brilliant in their own way. And then there are all the other great tunes on the Broco album, but they only have lyric videos. Still excellent.
A masked singer actually worth watching.
This man makes it sound like Elvis was impersonating him
I haven't heard a singing voice like this since the 60s...pure magic
As a massive Travelling Wilburys fan his voice and sound hit all the right nostalgic notes. And some of the guitar motifs sound like they'd belong in a Jeff Lynne production
He's definitely channeling Roy Orbison on those high notes (and especially that "Oh I" phrase), and I love it!
☑️🎶 he is wonderful. In every way a perfect Gentleman.
Straight guy here, my lady showed me Orville a couple of days ago. It's some pretty gay shit, and Im HOOKED. Sturgill and Orville, best country artists since the millennium, if not the late 80's. I've had this song on repeat for 4 days
I can hear the alt right screaming from here. Beautiful voice. Read about him. Had to check him out. His voice reminds me of the older country singers.
I am a young adult woman who has been told for as long as I can remember that my feelings are unimportant, unfounded, and weakness. The only thing I feel comfortable crying around is this song. Thank you Orville Peck.
LETS FUCKING GO ORVILLE NATION
Yaasss!
orville can hit me with his car and i’d still say thank you
"I can tell you're a sad boi just like me..." 😌🤠
Man, I’m so happy I discovered Orville. Thanks to Euphoria. I’ve never heard of him till they played a song in one of the episodes and I instantly fell in love. What an amazing voice!
The best parts of Orville refined into a perfect alt. country cocktail. Exquisite.
THE HIGH NOTES THE HIGH NOTS HE HITS THE HIGHS NOTES OMG
ended up here from the pit stop - never heard of orvile! been binge watching all of his music for the past hour and im obsessed.
I have watched this video a zillion times. Does anyone know if Orville choreographed it? I know he is a trained dancer. Can't get enough of him. I check every day to see if he is going on tour, I will travel........😍
Something's always drawn me to check out what Orville's been releasing, yet I used to never have his music on repeat until now. Bronco is an absolutely amazing body of work! I listen to it everyday
I've only met 2 people who love him too. A queer person and a man in his 60s. I'm neither. Orville speaks to all.
Been an Orville Peck supporter since his first album, but this song had me and my wife in a trance listening. What a show! Truly amazing what this man can do!
Incredibly professionally fun! He’s also extremely talented & has a beautiful ♥️.
this song couldnt have come out at a more relevant time in my life rn. its super easy to forget u have emotions sometimes. never forget u have feelings too, and you are allowed to have them and express them! dont forget to take cake of yourself.
I'm shocked since the first time I listen to this song. I can understand and feel exactly what he is singing about, and relate it with moments of my own life. He is wearing a mask but feels like a mirror. This is a Masterpiece.
" He is wearing a mask but feels like a mirror" perfection
i've listened to this song 50 times already today, and this video is already up there with summertime for me as just amazing orville peck videos
I’m liking this before even seeing it. That’s how confident I am this is going to be amazing. Can’t wait to see/hear new Orville!
I did the same
Same here!
He’s the Freddy Mercury of country
he is criminally underrated
If i could only listen to him for the rest of my life I'd be okay with that
The way that first bottle hits so perfectly on beat, uhhhggggg this song is so perfect
The irony that this song is actually makes me too happy for me to cry.
Indeed. His music always seems to sit at the intersection of hope and despair. Quite extrordinary.
His voice is so powerful and nostalgic, it brings back the good old country style.
The end of the video with Orville walking alone is just so sad. I feel what he's saying.
But he's not alone for long. He's walking the deserted streets at night in the early morning hours after the bar closes - and note the shirt he's wearing. Now check out the video for Dayton Sand. I think it's a continuation of C'mon Bay Cry. It's dawn now and he's still walking, wearing the same shirt. Then he dumps the shirt because he is on a new adventure on a new day.
Both are great songs. Heck, the whole album is exceptional.
I can’t get over how beautiful the music and visuals are.
This guy deserves more attention. His touch in this industry will leave a major impact
What a beautiful voice, Elvis meets Roy Orbison... fantastic
Every single one of these new singles is on my fave list for Peck. I am unbelievably hyped for this album.
Meeeeee toooooo! 🤠
okay but the way OP addresses toxic masculinity while doing glam country realness
I was still singing to “Cry cowboy cry” and all of the sudden this! What the hell just hit me?!! This is one freaking piece of amazing art at so many levels! Thanks Orville Peck, the band and all your wonderful team for this amazing work. 🤠🐎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I never heard of Orville Peck until TH-cam decided to shove this into the top of my suggested videos (from Avi Kaplan, why not), but it's like Elvis and Conway Twitty had a baby who developed superpowers and was raised as a theater kid by Tonto and The Lone Ranger. And the result is spectacular.
If current country music was even 1/1000 as good as this I would be a country music fan.
Couldn't care for country music if you paid me. Then I heard this song and saw the video - bought the record right away.
He’s giving off Serious Twin Peaks vibes and I AM HERE FOR IT!
Was just about to go to bed when I saw this in my notifications. Of course, I've gotta listen to the whole EP before I can go to bed. Can't wait to hear what comes out in April!
To Orville Peck, hoping you and your Loved ones are well. Would like to Thank and Praise you and the band for your Outstanding Performance In Toronto Ontario, Massey Hall August 9th 2022, thoroughly enjoyed the evening and so look forward to return Concert Dates as I have some dear close family/friends I need to take for a Talented, Soothing and Soulful experience. I listen to your music most days and have you listed as a Country Classic to my friends , to me you are a talented intelligent Artist who shares his honesty, humor and great compassion. Wishing you Peace and Happiness. ox
Hands down the Best birthday present i couldve ever gotten
Happy birthday bro. Here's to many more years of good health prosperity and continued great taste on music!
this music video is pure art and country extravagance !!!! i’m in love with Orville Peck !!!
I’m probably responsible for more than 50 views. Love this song very much.
He's definitely got one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard
I am obsessed with this song, and how Orville's tone in his voice is on this. Brilliant song. Love it so much, been playing on repeat for days.
did not expect Orville to sing directly to me but here we are
IM OBSESSED WITH THE AESTHETIC OF THIS VIDEO, THE MUSIC, EVERYTHING!!!!!! I JUST CANT STOP WATCHING THIS
i feeeeel you! i found this song a couple days ago! i've shown my family it, and they loved it! and i've been listening to it on REPEAT since then!!! 😭💖
I can't help it, I really like this guy. I'm about as straight as it gets. Love is universal, you don't need to be gay to understand. Respect!
Hear me out, I can't stand country music, but this, this is just amazing, his voice, the the old school country with a bit of Elvis flair, I love every bit of it. So thank you Orville peck, you are a gift to this world.
I absolutely have hated country until tonight 😔My late husband was the same. One joke he told a few times was saying "Whenever I get a new stereo the first thing I do is to take out the country stations".
He's unreal! I can't get over it. Giving me Elvis 60s Era vibes but better and gayer. I'm crying ❤
one of the most underrated artists. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. hope I get to see him in concert before he's too big though :)
How da phuck did TH-cam bring me to this guy.
absolutely stunning on every level. Roy Orbison would be proud. Can't tell you how much I love this song and video. I honestly never paid much attention to him before, but that has certainly changed. Playing on a whole new level.
That led outfit has me so pumped omg. Love having more lgbt ppl in country!! The outfits are always top notch
His voice is a meld of Roy Orbison, Jay Black and Elvis
Orville has the music video market absolutely cornered.
Its like a mix of musical theater, country, and camp 70`s glam.
Your grasp on this genre and aesthetic is ironclad and I treasure you.
How have his vocals gotten even better? I squealed at 2:34.. then the glitter ❤️🎉
Found you sis! Here's your proof I'm listening, it was great!
My theory? A lot of the material on Pony was experimental. He was still finding a distinctive voice. Show Pony and the stuff he's done with Paul Cauthen covering the Righteous Brothers solidified exactly what he wanted out of his performances. (seriously look up Unrighteous Brothers if you don't already know about them. It's gorgeous.) So now, he knows exactly what he wants to sound like for whatever he's doing and knows how to get that sound.
@@mefirstyoulater we need more from the Unrighteous Brothers for sure!! Love hearing him hit those super high notes. His range is ridiculous.
I thought he was saying “I got an arrow soul, take my hand and let it go” like he was shooting an arrow lol love this song! Easy to play on guitar too! Saw him at Coachella he was amazing!
If I walked into a bar and saw this show going on I'd be back every weekend! What an entertainer!
I was so inspired bu the camp cowboyness of it that I decided to write a uni paper about it!
This is art. I say this as a straight dude who appreciates all music and the heart behind it. The subtle grindhouse visuals, and those vocals showing off range out of this world! Great show my guy!
When he hit the high note on the word "cry", I shivered.
Country is alive
The bridge in this song is so perfectly composed, sung, and produced, and the video does it justice and then some.
This man oozes sexiness, confidence, and positivity. 😍
Friend of mine randomly sent me this video saying "Just listen". And I am so glad I did. Even putting aside the outfits, the snake hips, the phenomenal voice, the fact that Margaret Cho is in the video (!!)--the MESSAGE. Guys need to hear this. Gay, straight, everyone. We would be a far better world if men felt they were allowed vulnerability, without appearing "weak".
I love old country. I love twangy, tears in my beer. I really fell out of love when the music became about beer cups, ‘Murica, and this is how country I am. Orville is probably something you think I wouldn’t like but I was instantly hooked. He has this Elvis like voice, the Nudie suits, fantastic lyrics, a dash of some surf rock…it’s just fun! My wife heard his music and little by little fell in love. He seems like a genuinely likable person.
Freddy Mercury of Country!
One of the greatest songs ever created. It is perfectly balanced. Amazing story, vocals and composition.
It has been a very long time since I've heard country music that has floored me like this does. With how absolutely meatheaded the genre can be sometimes, this dude is the shot in the arm it needs.
This is a good Nashville country song, but there will absolutely never be another album like Pony.
I’ve never been dissatisfied by the visuals in Orville Peck music videos ❤️ they ate
My boyfriend's back and he's cooler than ever.
screaming, crying, throwing up... this is beautiful and I'm so excited for the rest of this album
Orville Peck out here making me like country music against my will
