  • Climber Orchids are quite a common occurrence in the Oncidium alliance, I prefer to keep them potted and periodically remove the older growths which become too low in the pot!

    🎉Congratulations on your marriage! I enjoy all your videos even though most of my orchids are outside here in Florida.

    Congrats on your wedding! I'm sure it's wonderful, and I hope that you take a little time off from videos and editing.
    Thank you for this topic! My first (since 2013) and favorite orchid, which I discovered to be a Howards Dream, has greatly increased its angle-of-growth over the last 5 years. This is true for all my splits. It's been a minor inconvenience. My best success also has simply been repotting, but nonetheless love to learn from your experiences as well. Have a great day!

    Dani, can I ask for tips on transfering orchids from mount to medium? I got a beautifull bulbophyllum and it has survived a lot of my figuring things out during this year, but I have found out, that I cant maintain her on the mount it has came on from the store .. and I thing she would really enjoy having more hydration .. she made a lot of new growths, but the bulbs are getting a bit too shriveled for my tastes .. any tips? thank you in advance :)

      I suppose you can try soaking the roots and hope they detach from the mount without taking too much damage

    Why do onchidium orchids climb upwards? How do they grow in the wild that this benefits them? Would love to learn more about this!

    thanks. i have 01 and did not know what to do with it as it has never flowered and is always climbing.Can you tell me why its leaves colour as well as the bulb is yellowish.

  • @richardleesl

    There are some dendrobiums (like the crumenatum) that often sprout keikis along their old flower spikes, and often get higher and higher as they grow. This happens in the wild or if the plant is left unattended for some time. Does this also warrant the "climbing" variety?

    Question: Hi, I have a phenolopcshis that needs repotting. All the leaves grow forward rather than layered, making it front heavy. Can it be planted directly into a clay bonsai pot to keep it from fall over?

    Hi Danny, wondering if you’ve ever had the new fan of a paphiopedilum begin to grow roots up higher on the stem. Kind of like the climbing pattern of your oncidium here. I have tiny bumps forming on a couple of mine and I’m worried about the new roots, (if that’s what they are) drying out and dying because they are no where near the media.

    I have a large phalenopsis orchid that is growing sidewise. I’m afraid to repot because it is so big. How should I start the process?

      I have this question too! Mine is pushing out of the pot and growing almost horizontally. It currently has s beautiful healthy flower stalk but otherwise it really resembles the orchid which you repotted today. Should I treat it similar. Mine is in a 6" pot.

    I have one orchid which grows vertically, but it is a Phal. All of mine are repotted appropriately, fed on a schedule, and the water is monitored as is the light. One Phal is rarely out of bloom and grows vertically with new roots and healthy new leaves growing higher and higher so that I have it wired and staked to be able to stand in its pot. Any suggestions about how to repot this? Should I do it while it is blooming with long spikes of flowers, and how does one treat a plant with long and very healthy roots that grow out and up?

    • @jenniferkenny
      @jenniferkenny ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She has a video of just this scenario. I think it’s reference would be something like ‘super long stemmed phal’. She reported it and I believe cut the lower part of the stem that had dried out and died off. That’s what I’m remembering anyway. Good luck!
