I had (past tense) been considering doing this myself. Considering all that needs to be removed to access the speakers... I will hire someone, thank you so much for the video!
Don’t forget to remove all the wiring connectors inside the cabin, speakers, seats and remove and unmount all the tires before taking that engine out lol😂
First I found you do not have to remove the Head unit at all . Second I have no idea how you got to move the lower drivers side brace like you did.. A better video of that side would help... It was a bear to get that pod out and back in there and my brace did not even move 1/2 the distance that yours did . I also removed the LH of the steering wheel vertical brace and to be honest about it I broke off the upper bracket on the new speaker pod . Seams to be tight enough without it so not to much worried about it. Other wise great video and learned a lot by watching .
Curious, why wouldn't you remove that passenger side panel to make it easier to access? Is it because of the airbag? Thanks for this video though. I am considering this upgrade and this was very informative.
Thanks for this video. Would love to see a video of how you put the pod together... is there a better pod to use so you can construct & not have to swap? I'm also seeing that if I'm swapping the head unit, this is clearly the perfect time. Thanks for the step-by-step. It's intimidating, but I think it's something I want to try.
I cant tell from the video. For the passenger side pod, does it attach on the right side to a metal bar? How much space is there between the new pod and metal bar if so? I ask because I had to modify my metra pod to fit a larger magnet speaker. I had to heat up the pod and expand it out about 1/2" on the "shelf" part of the pod. I'm wondering if it will still fit.
How does this effect the sound of your phone over Bluetooth with that X-over and tweeter? On my gladiator seems to only output some from my phone calls to the front left top dash speaker.
I took mines off without taking all that off all you need is sledge hammer, long pry bar & blk electrical tape 😅 What brand are the New speakers 🔊 I found powerbass OE-400 🔊4” 🤷🏻♂️
Hey so dont know if anyone knows the question(I don't really know much about car stereos) If I have a Alpine Amplified system in my jeep does it have enough power to pushed 6.5 in the knee location?
I already have the alpine amp upgrade system that came with the upgraded tweeters and the 8” sub. Is there a 6.5 speaker you recommend that isn’t a 2 way component for the kick panels? I would like to stay all alpine.
First I would add the overhead system, volunteeraudio.com/product/alpine-spv-65-jlt , they are easier to install and make a bigger difference than the dash speakers
@@volunteeraudio I just saw them the other day. You don’t have to cut the roll bar to put in a 6 1/2” speaker but they stick out further than the SSV ones. I think they make 2 different ones with a coaxial speaker or component speaker.
That's an awful lot of work that you made look easy. I do wonder if the factory grill has a negative impact on the sound, perhaps you could provide your expert opinion.
Why would someone engineer speakers so hard to get to? If I was getting a JLbuilt I would be at the factory with my upgrade to install on the assy line.
There are people who put 3.5” in the dash but my personal opinion is that a true 6.5” in the lower dash with separate tweeters up top sound tremendously better

Great thing about this is once the engine is out and separated from the transmission, it's very easy to go ahead and check the oil.
hahah right?!?!
And we show these videos so you don’t get half way in and figure out you dont want to check the oil lol
😂😂😂😂

This is crazy! If my speakers ever fail in my Jeep, im just gonna trade my Jeep in for another one.
It would be a lot less money to pay a professional to replace the speaker
Thank you! I just replaced my speakers and this video was a huge help.
@@isaitorres2542 your welcome
Wow, intense for the two speakers. I think I will have you do that part. I already changed the upper dash and the top sound bar.
It takes some time! Thanks for watching!
@@volunteeraudio we plan on traveling in your area this coming year. I will reach out to you for audio upgrades to my gladiator.
Thank you for the great video. Only thing that would have made it better is if you would have been here for the install in person. Haha
Thank you for watching!

Sorry I may have missed it, but the original stock size speakers were 4" ??? Great video too, really informative 👏 👍 💯
Yes 4”

We actually pull everything that is needed for install, anymore is just additional labor that is not necessary

The pods are very simple to put together, the include everything necessary and bolt in exactly like the original pods
Just got these from you guys and the speakers do not sit flush into the new pods no matter what orientation I'm using? Do I need to cut material away?
Yes the pods have small tabs that are cut off for using 6.5” speakers,

Good JOB!!!
Thank you!
No way id ever do all that myself, nope lol
Great video though👍

We used alpine 6.5” in this video, you want to upgrade to a bigger speaker than a 4” to get better sound
Hey so dont know if anyone knows the question(I don't really know much about car stereos) If I have a Alpine Amplified system in my jeep does it have enough power to pushed 6.5 in the knee location?
That depends on how much power your 6.5” requires

How much is this job?
Will this fit a 2019 wrangler ?
Yes
Watched the first 5 min decided I’m just gonna pay someone to do it lol
The point is to show you what’s involved so you can make an informed decision
Did you use the oem pod or the pods come with the speaker setip?
New pods that come with the alpine kit
I think you are gonna sell me a set or 2 of these! Same fit in the roll bar with the select increments pods?
Not sure about that brand, select increments?

@@harveybrooks9697 I like the ssv adapters, very well built, the alpine is slick too, I wouldn’t want them to hang down
This Jeep will never run again.
Pulling the engine is easier than this!!!!
All screws are back in and it runs fine, have you seen what must be done to get to the turbo on the 2.0l engine?
That's an awful lot of work that you made look easy. I do wonder if the factory grill has a negative impact on the sound, perhaps you could provide your expert opinion.
I don’t believe the grille will cause much sound loss, using a fast ring to get the sound more sealed to the grill is a great option to add
Why would someone engineer speakers so hard to get to? If I was getting a JLbuilt I would be at the factory with my upgrade to install on the assy line.
Remember they all get paid by the hour when doing repairs at the dealership
Your wrong 3.5 speakers 2 ways fit in upper dash just fine , I put Kenwood Excelons in mine !!!
There are people who put 3.5” in the dash but my personal opinion is that a true 6.5” in the lower dash with separate tweeters up top sound tremendously better
thankfully you didn't decide to record this from outside the car from a single angle...
Appreciate the video but please cover the customers seats. I always cringe when I see that.
No seats were harmed during this install, I have specific tool sets just for interior use to keep clean
I hate it when people cringe about anything..
All this work for two speakers, not worth the headache.. Just replace all the other speakers..
These are the most important that point at you
Not for me !!🤣
Just letting people make that decision for theirself, before they get in the middle of it, thank you for watching
