    I was almost about to throw away my pocket 1 because of same problem as others. So I decided to give it a try to fix myself just for fun before buying pocket 2. But I fixed it!!!! I watched your video 1 year ago. For me it looked complicated..😭 and I didn’t want to ruin mine with my hands especially I didn’t have proper tools to open it. Long story short, I did it this time with small kitchen knife. Till I closed all the parts I wasn’t sure it would work. But It works now!!!! Thank you so much. I even wouldn’t have tried if you didn’t share it.. Although it has a little damages on plastic part I am so happy. Such a shame I didn’t record what I did..

    The Pocket Osmo tolerance is tight, and if the support arm gets bumped and bent, the gimbal sticks at an angle. "gimbal protected" at start up, and camera at an angle, where the edge touches to bottom plate. No need to try to unbend (!) or disassemble. Take a nail file, make three passes over the sharp edge where it makes contact, on two sides, and 100% function is returned. The black anodize is broken in that small location, but us almost unnoticeable. When you file the edge, position the Osmo so the aluminium dust falls to the floor, not into the machine.

    Mine fell out of its case headfirst. My immediate thought was to throw myself under a large moving vehicle. Can't live w/o this baby - life not worth it. I finally got a grip on myself. I couldn't see any damage externally. Two of the gimbals rotated freely, but the one holding the tilt (middle one) was sticking in a couple of places. I put it back in the case. After an hour I switched it back on and hey, life ain't so bad after all. Thanks for posting this.

    Thanks so much for making this video! Is that piece necessary because of the weight balance? Is there something magnetic that the osmo can detect? How does the gimbal know if the piece is there or not?

    Okay - from what I can tell here by looking at the insides of this (thanks for that, btw) what appears to be happening from my POV is that little black wire that runs from the gold ribbon cable, out the back of the head through the side of the head and back over to the logic board on the camera...that's gotta be the gimbal wire for the motor...no other reason to run it through the moving parts. I think when they get dropped (or in my case hit on the side of a door frame while doing a tracking shot) that the wire or ribbon cable gets bent a lil or pressure put on it...I'm sure it doesn't take much to pinch it or pull it out of alignment. Taking apart probably reseated it or took the extra tension from the fall off it). I don't see anything else that could be causing the problem. This would also explain why the Sqeezing the end caps works or putting a piece of cardboard). the issue is that little black wire from the gold ribbon cable doesn't have a lot of wiggle room to do its thing. AT ALL) so it's gonna get reseated just right or get the tension off it...depending which way or side it was dropped). Any other thoughts, gang?

    This video helped me a bit in the disassembly process, but unfortunately it doesn't really fix the problem.

      If your problem is roll axis because your osmo fell down to the ground, check my video. Maybe there is some broken part of your device.

    The Osmo Pockets are surprisingly tough for something that has a delicate and precision part like the gimbal. Mine has had a number of unfortunate falls - and I don't mean from my pants pocket onto a thick carpeted floor; more like from the roof of a van onto hard concrete! Crashing to hard pavement whilst mounted on a 5ft travel tripod due to strong wind! Tumbling down a rocky trail when I lost my balance! All that and its still functioning as well as it did when new.....not as pretty looking, but hey, who cares.
    Edit: I did have to take it apart last year when I was having really useless audio. Reseated all the internal connectors, re-assembled it and its perfect till now.

      당신은 훌륭한 사람입니다. 그것을 어떻게 고치나요??
      나는 의자높이에서 케이스에 담겨진 상태로 떨어졌지만 고장났습니다.
      100달러를 주고 수리소에 맏겨놓은 상태입니다. 부디 아무문제없이 오래사용하길 바랄뿐입니다.

      @@createwithali The same problem, it tries to calibrate the gimbal without success, it's barely moving now, or if i insist on pressing the cables it moves a bit but still without success. I gave up on understanding what's happening but i don't really believe any cable is broke

    Is there an Encoder connected to the Shaft of the Motor which helps Rotate the 📸 Camera?

    I was on holiday in England when I dropped the osmo pocket from a height of 2 meters. Then he went crazy calling. This video of yours gave me hope to fix it.

      @cristibaluta  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, sorry about that, to take the plastic covers out you need some sharp blade like a cutter. Then a small screwdriver.

      Hi, in the end it broke again twice, last one was in extreme cold and didn't recovered it. Not sure my fix is good, might be needed to open it entirely and see if something is broken. Or throw it to garbage.

      Hi, with a sharp blade i removed the plastic covers first, they are kept in place with adhesive. They are a little damaged now, don't think you can remove them in perfect condition.

  • @trevomultimidia
    @trevomultimidia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Too bad you didn't shoot the beginning when you were taking the glued parts off the camera. This part seems impossible to disassemble. I have the same problem because my Osmo fell from a ridiculous height 1 meter

    • @cristibaluta
      @cristibaluta  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, i couldn't concentrate on doing that and also film, i didn't think is even possible to remove, but is just plastic and you can with some sharp object, at the expense of leaving some scratches. Hope you'll fix it.
