Hi guys love your video- you guys make us laugh so much. We have same van and are just abt to install solar panels - where did you get your long brackets from on your roof please x
I'll get some shots of it from the outside of the van, it looks more "stealth" and way nicer, blends in with the black aluminum extrusion. Otherwise they would stand out like glowing silver bars on top of the black aluminum extrusion !
Solar Finally Up 😎👍 Unfortunately didn't have time to hook everything up but stay tuned for next week! Any questions let us know below and don't forget to hit that like button for getting these panels up solo! 💪p.s is anyone else paranoid about their solar panels flying off on the motorway? 😂😅
Yes I was actually watching another video and they attached a little ramp / spoiler Infront of their solar panels to stop the air going below them on the motorway. You could do something similar Infront of your first one if your worried.
@@heatheroreillyduff5604 Yeah I was tempted to do it, we took it for a test drive now on the motorway and it seems fine, no wind noise at all. I think because the first panel sits behind the curve of the front most of the high pressure air is going over it not under. They are also pretty low to the roof of the van. Not that worried about it now but we will see how it holds up overtime.
I used 12mm T boldts with nylock nuts on mine because they can come loose with the vibrations, have a look at my led lighting video if you're thinking of going more off grid 👍
Good idea, ill use some red locktite so they wont rattle loose hopefully, will keep an eye on them to see how they hold up! Ill check your video out thanks Nick!
moving forward, almost at the point of endless power, its amazing i am struggling to use enough power to even drain the battery. As quick as i use it the solar tops it back up, even using it over night you will find an hour of two the next day in the sun and you will be fully charged.
Cant wait to have this running ! Going to be so cool to be able to generate our own power! Excited ! Gonna be interesting to see how much we use with induction etc !
All the electricity that the panels produce that we don't use will be stored in our battery if it's not fully charged. On sunny days it will easily keep us topped up even if we use a lot of power, however on cloudy days or in the winter they'll produce a lot less. So we might still have to charge via the engine, or shore power depending on how much power we use !
Unfortunately can't do anything with excess, normally in your house you'd be tied to the grid so you can send it to the grid and get some money for it. Not in our case!
Do you mind sharing the size panels you used and the roof rack type and size. I am looking to do exactly the same.. if you could share the links where you bought them would be amazing.

Can’t believe you had effort to paint the frames! Your work is so neat! Well done to you but ask help for moving big items like this please x

800 watts ! What a beast, you'll never run out 👏
Summer time should be plenty for sure! winter it might be tight, we will see !
Great. Well done 👏
Thank you! 😃
Those are some big panels! Great job. Looks good 🙂
Thanks guys ! 😎 excited to get it all working this weekend, can't wait to be generate our own power!! 👍

@@CasLaz we are due to test ours shortly
@@Alivefrom45 Awesome! So Jealous haha😎👏👍
How did you make your roof rack?
I made videos about it on the channel, check previous videos. Thanks !
I was wondering these solars are so big, you will have so much electricity, is there any way to store it?

@@CasLaz yeah that is what I though but what will happen when you have sunny days and battery is fully charged where the excesses electricity will go?

Hi, all info in description, I also made videos about the roof rack, hope it helps!
