This was honestly super enlightening and it makes me kick myself for not getting more into computers when I was in the right environment to learn about it #ThousandsInCripplingDebtGang
this was so funny and informative it actually had me stay late at work to finish watching... i mean working, to finish working, and then watch... it... anyway, great video!
Quantum computers won't make any of this obsolete, as quantum computers are only better than classical computers for very specific types of problems. At some point our computers might have a QPU, but it's more likely to supplement the CPU than replace it.
👍🏽 🇬🇧 January 2024 _Loved_ this!! On my Audible, I've got stuff like Fire in the Valley, going on. So - this whole awesomeness of computers - is a thing for me. Thank you for making this vid!
The funny thing is, you never get to actually explaining the thing that happens when you add two numbers together - you just explain the rules of each level of abstraction, without putting it all together. Or ever get to explaining how you pressing some buttons actually gets the computer to string those exact logical units inside it together, and how the result of them actually ends up on the screen. I realize both of those would take hours, obviously. But it's kinda like saying "Well, cells with two or three orthogonal/diagonal living neighbours stay living, dead cells with three living neighbours come alive, and all other die or stay dead. Now you understand how a glider gun works, and we can build complicated structures out of them!"
criminally underrated video. I found this channel a year ago from the kurtzgesagt spoof, but I stay for this genius gold.
This is criminally underrated!!

After the whole iPod thing I'm surprised you didn't just reverse engineer the windows calculator
