    Such a good bloke. Since Sid died, nobody loves the darts more than Wayne. He took the time to analyze my throw from slow motion video I sent him... In fact, he OFFERED to do it when I asked if we could meet up in Vegas but he doesn't commentate when they come state side. That's a real diamond geezer...

      @@OasisMadf3rit Agreed, Mate... And let's not forget, he beat Phil in the semis! How hard do ya think THAT was on stage at Ally Pally? Shame he didn't have what it took to win worlds that year. Still one of MY all-time favorite players, regardless.

      @@gabedestellano Did you have just pay to get your throw analysed? Curious. But yeah, solid bloke.

    Phil - Live Darts is great! I like the questions you ask and the way you ask them. I love the way you you conclude your interviews as well, “... it was an absolute pleasure to speak to you...”
    The board issue is very interesting. Back in Bobby George’s and Eric Bristow’s day there was less variation and more uniformity across whatever many brands there were. (Couldn’t have been many) - Now with the size and popularity of the professional circuit, there is a market share to compete for and that means brand competition BUT their all using the SAME material, Sisal.
    So... I can see only two things that separate brands. The way they condense the Sisal and the wiring of the segments. The rest will be just brand loyalty.
    Finally, the pressures today’s dart players feel. Wayne was correct in his assessment of how today’s prize money and the players feeling that they need to impress their sponsors plays a big roll in the way they play. You can’t tell me that the relief Joe Cullen felt after his huge win last week wasn’t monumental. But for him it meant that he gets to continue to play darts, for MVG, Peter Wright, and Rob Cross it means it’s just a better Christmas this year. Joe Has been out of the lime light for a minute or two recently and I was wondering where he’s been. I bet he was wondering too. Like golf and tennis I’m seeing the same names week after week in the semis and finals at these PDC events. The Big dogs have been doing a good job keeping the 2nd and 3rd tier players down for the most part and I’m hoping Duzza and Chizzy have another gear. I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING THOSE TWO!!
    Cheers from New York

    my first board was a B5, was disappointed with its longevity, but I also didn't know what I was doing and didn't turn it enough. got the G3 now, far superior, looks better, its been 9 months and it looks like new aside from some holes, but almost no sisal pulled out so far. but it is very stiff, however I ordered it right when the postal company went on strike so it sat in a canadian warehouse for god knows how long, so that probably didn't help. I would buy another G3 though. but I may try something else next, perhaps based on what Wayne finds

      Im in Florida and have the same Blade III for 14 years. Play tons on it, at least 15 min/day 5 days week first thing in the morning, no weekends. 90 plus degrees in my home with no air and constant 70 to 80 percent humidity. Still in great like new shape. Rotated everytime done playing. Plastic hold down clip on number ring is broke on one but doesnt matter. I want a new board but I guess for show for the brighter colors. Blade 5 dual core. But am holding off as this board still can work for next 5 years easy at this rate. No bs either, have pics to prove it. Nodor/winmau are great boards yes.

    I'm not convinced that the unicorn boards are on the same level as winmau blade 5. The worst darts I've used for bounce outs are Gary Andersons. Well not bounce outs exactly, more of a deflection due to my throw and the grip on them probably.

    Said it all along. You don't want bounce outs. Don't use long points. Lighter the dart or throw just makes it worse with long points. Why You would want to use them beats me. As if a few mill extra is gonna make you play better. lol

      Also reduce entrance angle as to clear the wire, too sharp and angle can hit the wire which is in like 2 to 3mm so a flatter angle is better no more than 15 degrees.

    Glen Durrant doesn't deserve a wild card to the grand slam just because he's the BDO world champion. He doesn't represent them anymore. If he's given a wildcard to represent the BDO, it's even more unfair on them. That means there will be only 7 BDO players in the event because Durrant is taking one of their spots. Completely wrong.

    • @chrispaws9294
      @chrispaws9294 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with your logic but really it would be hard to back any bdo players progressing in the grand slam whether they get 7 or 8 spots. they would need about 30 sadly. the divide has always been a pity. maybe the new bdo leadership can make a difference but i doubt it. I'd like to see mr hearn doing more for the game, in the same way i'd also like to see the premier league supporting grass roots in football. lots of money and not much sharing. ok weve got the challenger/youth stuff but the pub game is down the toilet at a time it should be thriving. so hard to find a pub board these days. a merger could maybe help link the grass roots to the pro game and keep super league and county going. , which has always been a natural way to progress. I admire the commitment of the pros, and the bdo players, but dont feel it should take 45 weeks a year on the road to give yourself a chance to make it. bit of a tangent there. i suppose it sorts the wheat from the chaff.

    Keep the Grand Slam as a ranking event. We don't want more nothing invitational tournaments like the World Series borefest.

    obviously it's all down to sponsorship. pdc affiliates will not want to diss unicorn, who make some great arrows but terrible boards. i bet there are many unicorn sponsored player who use blades at home ha ha. i mean it is sometimes embarrassing watching the darts fall out, and the treble 20 looking like a paper board. darters know this, and the pdc, bdo, unicorn and winmau know this of course cos they watch telly too. blade 5 means it lasts 5 times longer than an eclipse. 5 times better made too. The only thing i prefer about the eclipses is they are slightly brighter, and give an illusion of bigger treble zones. darts is awesome though. pdc is great and i hope the bdo keeps it alive, we need it

    Quality has went down simply to much money some off these big tournaments few rounds and there going away with a year plus salary. Don’t need to win tournaments in darts to make big money
