Xtrullor is the master of Orchestral Dubstep, some of my all-time favorites are from him, not to mention some of the hardest drops ever.
godamn right... my favorite song of his is Samsara, what is yours? 🤔
@@obedpadilla5264 Nirmiti
@@gabomsc2146 SAME!!!!!
@@obedpadilla5264 Either Paracosm or Sheol, though Ego Death could definitely find a place there too. (I don't think any of these are orchestral dubstep but they are my favorite Xtrullor songs)
@@obedpadilla5264 supernova. shit hits hard with high bass headphones
Sometimes I forget how small the dubstep community is, but then I realized how many songs from this list I already recognized
Fr? Dubstep is like the leading edm genre here
@@brenchyalowicois6748 Most people don't get their music from youtube, if you can believe it. Dubstep may seem popular here, but it's pretty small when you consider spotify, apple music, etc.
Right, I got 70% of them right when guessing the creator and 100% right when guesing the genre. I haven't lostend to EDM in about 2 years, still wont forget the OG 's Xtra and Sullivan King.
@@brenchyalowicois6748 "Here?" Not in the states it sure ain't, tech, deep, and bass house currently are reigning supreme. I don't imagine the UK is much different.
Imo I just notice it a lot of fans are usually out of state or country, especially since the people I'm around with have never even heard of any of these subgenres. I'm aware of that, but it does get lonely thinking I'm the only dub enjoyer out there. But I'll get to meet others like me one day :)
MDK is so cool that he made his own kind of dubstep.
@systic gmd I'm a fan of space invader
@@tacoboy2218 I loved listening to space invader for the 1st time, wish to experience the same feeling again
@systic gmd mine was always MDK - Sur La Wobble. came a few time on Frankiein1080p but that was so long ago lol :p
First heard his music in geometry dash, unique level
not trying to hate but i think Savant for example made Dubstep with video game sounds before an MDK "created" Wubstep? The song Vario for example came out 2012
Melodic dubstep has to be my favorite out of all of them, the drops are just unmatched
I agree
As someone who enjoys dubstep, I can guarantee that these songs are indeed dubstep.
As someone who doesn’t listen to dubstep that much, I can guarantee that these are songs
@@CarassiusAu funnily enough, to qualify as a "song", someone has to actually "sing", so most of dubstep without vocal samples are just "tracks". Also idk how it works with short vocal samples 🤷🏼♂️
@@leonpaul6198 Ok fine I can guarantee that these are sounds
@@CarassiusAu well actually
Correct.
@@leonpaul6198 Well actually sound is a collection of waves in the air created by movement of an object. So as long as you don't hit the PLAY button its not even a sound but a computer script! so I can guarantee that these are scripts.
Kotori - Master of AnimeStep
Sullivan King- Master of MetalStep
Xtrullor - Master of OrchestraStep
SNAILS - Master of VomitStep
MDK - Master of WubStep

Marauda and nimda - tearout commanders

To think that this genre all started from a small venue in South London almost 20 years ago. Very interesting how it evolved. I've been following it pretty much since the start.
More accurate to cite Croydon than London. London didn’t catch on until afterwards
@@naturesdopeflow Croydon is South London, its literally called the London Borough of Croydon within Greater London, its been a London Borough since 1965
@@MC24DB Yeah but to North Londoners it may as well be in a different country.
@@yoironfistbro8128 I live in North London
What venue exactly?
I think Skrux is one of the best when it comes to chillstep and melodic dubstep. The dudes an underrated master that’s been around for YEARS
AGREED
He's style is often referred to as Lovestep
@@maurommmmm4187 damn I didn’t even know that existed lmao there’s too many sub-genres in dubstep
And then there is Teminite
I will say Blackmill or Electus, they make a really good Chillstep/Melodic dubstep since 2009
I used to listen to only dubstep when I was a teen, and as my music taste evolved I gradually let go of it. It’s nice to come back to my roots from time to time❤️
This actually gave me so many new songs. Such an underrated video
Thanks so much!
When a Lego guy and a dinosaur likes the same music:
@@Keigo_88 haha :DD
same man, either already knew the track or immediately saved it to my playlists :D
i also like that i have a song in my playlists for almost every genre in here
This
So glad you put colour bass / melodic riddim in this, ace aura slaps
Good one for classic dubstep. Would have liked to see Nero - Innocence but that will do lol. I grew up with all the old school dubstep Skream, Benga and Coki. All the founders of dubstep. Crazy how the sound developed.
Welcome reality is the best dubstep album
“Developed” more like ruined by Americans 😂
@@hoidoei941 you can have that opinion, but some people genuinely love this stuff, why it isnt completely dead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If its different its not automatically bad
off topic but do yall think skrillex ruined dubstep?
@@Capta1nG no he just made brostep
big fan of all the types of chillstep, melodic, and orchastral dubstep subgenres
Substep is pay to hear 💀
Fr
Ahaha i love how you said in the deathstep part "i am anything but calm rn" that was hilarious HAHAHAHA
it wasn't terribly hard deathstep either
@@BGDMusic But still good tho :>
7:41 Fingerdash 🤑👌
I find it fitting that SNAILS, Sullivan King, and Evilwave were the examples or Vomit, Metal, and Deathstep respectively. And ending things off with MDK was a banger 🔥 (I actually play that song's Geometry Dash level repeatedly 😂)
I honestly dont really like fingerbang tbh, i like artists like ELEPS, Nightkilla adn Derpcat tho, and yes ofc i found them trough gd
eleps is a true gamer my guy
@@AstralNovaaa Xtrullor too
Yeah fingerDASH I'm gonna say for obvious reasons is a cool RobTop level, but the new level, SHEEESSHHH
@@the_true_dreamberddev This is Powersound >:)
Never tought that dubstep evolves so much. my favs are chilstep, orchestral, melodic, but wubstep and colour bass ire interesting too..👍🏻
Mine too.
Orchestral dubstep is sick, came across this group called Lttlfire and their new track I think is a REALLY good example
really deserves more views this is so good
My favorite styles are melodic & orchestral dubstep!
Thank you for ,,Voidwalkers" in Melodic Dubstep 3:37!
No problem!
Why did I immediately think of rocket league when I heard it?
@@technodude246yt4 Because this song is in Rocket League radio ;-)
Rocket League!
This is rocket league
Dam its great that you chose Nimda - Defeat for Tearout, its one of the best ones out there imo. Great showcase video.
the deathstep choice wasn't as good though, could've been better
@@BGDMusic I chose the song because I know Evilwave is a Deathstep artist, and the song itself seemed to fit the characteristics to be considered Deathstep.
Can you tell me what you thought was particularly wrong with the choice?
@@tyrannosaurusrex8183 i don't think it was particularly hard, stuff like Code: Pandorum's song Chosen (and a handful of other ones from the God LP) along with Dyroth's music, or KROWW, or something like that would've been better but that's just me
@@BGDMusic Dyroth and KROWW are the goats. Literally lol.
@@3toinsanity ye
i personally LOVE melodical and orchestral dubstep, having dubstep as a clean melody is perfect
nice songs bro, the dubstep community right now has some of the best videos from the smallest creators
The wubstep is my fav! the rhythm is pretty awsome!
I've been listening to Evilwave since he started and is definitely the GOAT of deathstep!
A bit strange for Riddim and Brostep to be shown relatively late in the video for how often they're referenced
ik im late but its alphabetical
Man, this one is way better than all the other dubstep subgenres videos i've seen! I finally found out what Robostep is all about lmao.
But, maybe a very little mistake could be the fact that Zeds Dead's remix of Eyes On Fire isn't really the best example of Classic Dubstep, mainly because that song is actually Filthstep. I'm not trying to say that you made a mistake, i just wanted to clarify in case a new dubstep fan encounters this video and wants the best of the examples, and maybe that one isn't really the best of the best. A better example would be Benga - Crunked Up imo.
Overall, this video is amazing and thank you a lot!
Thanks for the feedback!
If you like Robostep then you should give D-Jahsta a listening to, The Robostep God himself
@@svoak85 oh ok sounds nice, thank you m8!
@@Foreverexhailingegodeath yeah i've already listened some of his stuff, i also made a shitpost about a song from him lmao
The fuck are y’all even talking about 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 filth step lmfao
Melodic dubstep is still my favorite🔥
This is a very North America (Canada/US) post 2010 definition of the sound. You're missing 140 Dubstep, Purple Dubstep, Deep Dubstep, Bristol (UK) Dubstep, South London (UK) Dubstep as the obvious few. Even certain record labels can be used to describe a Dubstep style. Looks like UK, European, New Zealand, Japanese dubstep does not reach the US audience. Very insightful examples, and good definitions of what is being produced across the pond. Hopefully this inspires you to expand this list.
Drumstep my fav
my favs are chillstep, classic dubstep, deathstep, drumstep, trapstep, melodic dubstep, metalstep, orchestral dubstep, viking riddim, & wubstep
You’ve got good taste. Soul Dealer, Mercia, and Eyes on Fire are some of my all time favorites.
Wtf I just searched for Final Warning on Spotify and every song in this video came up.
As a huge Samplifire fan, it was funny coming to the “Viking dubstep” part
I think that my favourites when it comes to dubstep is animestep and colour bass. I really love them both
3:36 so glad you inncluded Chime and Au5's Voidwalkers
I love videos where they explain and show subgenres
Me too
Aa a GD player I appreciate the fact you added Fingerbang on dubstep styles
Indeed
Touch grass
Xtrullor is my favorite dubstep creator ever, just wow how he syncs the music, and the orchests he is making, all the things
I didn't know that there are so much different dubstep styles. I don't like that much classic dubstep, melodic drumstep, robostep and substep. But the other 16 styles are very nice for me😁
My favourite Dubstep Interprets are Panda Eyes, Teminite, XTrullor, Excision, Virtual Riot, ColBreakz, Eleps, Getsix, Code:Pandorum/INHUMAN and Evilwave. I hear Dubstep songs from much more Interprets but they are my favourite.
To my opinion Tenimite makes the brutalist dubstep songs.
I love MDK man, he’s very cool and very unique with his wubstep.
Thanks i love dubstep
In the future I think you should try to organize the video a little better. For example you chose Animestep first then describe it as being similar to Brostep but you haven't yet shown us Brostep so for any who aren't familiar it isn't a helpful description until they hear it a little later in the video. So I'd recommend sectioning these off into a few major categories then after you explain the major category follow it up with any sub genres that have similarities. I think it'd help improve the viewing experience, but so far good video! :D
it’s in alphabetical order
@@anko_dtm yeah but alphabetical order is counterintuitive if you are educating people on the different styles.
I feel like "Chipstep" is a more fitting name for the description for wubstep than well, wubstep.
For me it’s Bitstep, but cool.
Wubstep could really be compared to something like a brostep spin on purple music.
I got into dubstep in 2007 when the tempo was slow, the bass was deep, and the melody was wobbles. I'm not bashing this stuff at all, but it's so crazy how it evolved from that grungy, dank, reggae vibe to this stuff. Almost feels like entirely different genres.
Same dude, I love me some wobbles. Have ever listened to shlump?
I love the variation in dubstep from chill and happy when you're on a road trip to angry and energetic when you're doing deadlifts in the gym xD
I need someone to make a 26-genre dubstep track with subgenres for each letter. I don't know how you'd properly transition from one to the other at some points, but it'd be fun to see.
Animestep
Brostep
Chillstep
Deathstep
Extratonestep*
Future Riddim
Glitch Hop
Hybrid Trap
Intelligent Riddim*
Jumpstep/Jazzstep*
Killstep*
Loudstep*
Melodic Dubstep
Neurostep
Orchestral Dubstep
Pornstep
Quietstep*
Riddim
Substep
Tearout
Uwustep (because that's a thing I guess)
Vomitstep
Wubstep
Xylophonestep*
Yodelstep*
Zumbastep*
* Mostly fake genres, but fuck it, they're valid.
I heard another type of dubstep called "Debals", it incorporates Tribal like themes with a heavy sub bass (there's no elements like growls or sustain basses, but it uses dubstep kicks and snares and some tribal elements)
Now I don't know where else to find it, That genre is so specific and extremely hard to find, the reason I knew about this because I was a lucky few to find the track on Spotify, and when I tried to find it again, it's gone (?)
So yeah, the genre is valid, just not all over the place yet.
For the other letters just add step or riddim to any word thats semi relevant to music or to the specific song, and you got yourself a genre. After all who's to say you're less valid than the trog who woke up one day and decided animestep wasn't bad enough.
example: extratone step (extratone with dubstep drums?), intelligent riddim (IDM but its dubstep?) etc
I have to throw in P is for “pornstep” 😅
I specifically remember a song called that by Dodge & Fuski and it contained moaning noises
Where's polyriddim?! 🤣
where dubcore
Chillstep, Meldub, Drumstep, and and combination of those three are my favs
i’m trying to teach myself how to make music and i’ve just been binging so many of these “subgenres of [x] with examples” to expand my music taste. had very limited knowledge of dubstep before this but some of these songs are definitely going on my playlist now
As a hardckre dubstep fan, and GD player, seeing Xtrullor in there, and evil wave, AND MDK, made me smile.
when I saw orchestral dubstep in the description I immediately thought of Xtrullor so that also made me smile
@@englishbulldog651 and then im a hardcore fan and also a dubstep fan

3:58 AAAAH YES THOOSE STRINGS
we need more DUBCORE or 200step
I have been mostly listening to deathstep and it's surrounding genres lately and I'm surprised orchestral deathstep is not on there!! Literally our most famous artist from the genre Code: Pandorum is a god (pun intended to Code fans) of orchestral deathstep, his use of choir vocals (as a choirist myself) gives me the chills. Beauty and brutality at the same time (Calvaire by him is my 4ever fave
7:39 WE ARE WAITING FOR AN UPDATE WITH THIS🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Fingerbang by MDK supposed to be Glitch Hop? The BPM of 112 fits more into Glitch Hop than Dubstep as well.
Yeah it’s definitely glitch hop
yeah fingerbang is glitch hop but wubstep was just kinda a joke genre that MDK named that most electro or glitch hop songs could be considered
MDK's songs have such a unique feeling that he is truly in power of coming up with a new genre
@@bxnebreakr3114
Nah its so good than he had created its on category
Video game theme + dubstep = bitstep?
Deathstep,Tearout and Viking Riddim are some of my favourite genres in that video.
4:05 who thinks that ColBreakz is good at Colour-Bass?
BRO BRIDDIM HITS HARD OMFG
I didnt expect that at the end...
anime step = basically in a nutshell kawaii noises and a lot of bass drops lol
Muerte - Soul Dealer is GOATED 🤘🔥
You got that right, literally one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
I was just listening to that song ha ha
This video is amazing. I can finally find dubstep in different genres
wait, how is zeds dead the classic dubstep, and substep a different style? i recall in 2010s calling 'substep' the OG dubstep, and later on developed into something that sounded like zeds dead, 16bit, benga, and excision. or maybe it's been so long ago that dubstep's not really associated with the subs anymore, and instead with the grittier wubs. just my few cents.
amazing choices man. some of these are really great
I was kinda surprised by it too. All I know is I've liked Zeds Dead OG remix since like 2012.
Heard of Deep Medi bro? Same grew up listening to the OGs. Coki, Mala, Skream and benga some of the greats!
Sullivan King literally a metalstep king
I enjoy watching videos like this to learn about new kinds of music that I’m unfamiliar to
Substep hurts my brain because I expect a proper drop but it's just tiny little noises
im planning on making a mixtape to be a DJ at a convention soon and this video really helps narrowing down my search to what music i prefer. thanks rex :)
deathstep is my go to now, I especially love inhuman and kroww

This may be a dumb question, but what genre would songs like With You or Init by Virtual Riot be? When if first came across color bass I thought they may fit that genre but listening to color bass playlists on Spotify doesn't really have any songs similar to those two. I'd love to find more songs like them
I never knew rex's had such good musci taste xD
