I have an awesome yellow flannel I found at a thrift store and its button was out of place but I fixed it. It's amazing. I'm losing my social skills it feels like as I'm getting older that I'm losing some masking ability that I could call upon before. The idea of capacity resonates very much with me. Like people see you sprinting and won't accept that you can't run a marathon at that pace. I cannot find a balance between being myself and surviving lol. I've become isolated and feel like I have no way back out really.
These autistic traits videos are great. I'm going to share them and your channel with this guy Louis Rossmann because he has autism too and I think it might help him to understand some things if he didn't already figure it out for himself because he recently found out he was or has a high likelihood too.
I had to mask myself throughout most of secondary school due to the way I really acted back then being misunderstood by others. It wasn’t a nice thing to do and after a while I got fed up of it and started speaking my mind about things more. At the end of the day, there’ll always be some idiot out there who tries to put you down whether you hide or flourish. We’ve just got to do our best to be us and not give a flying f***k about what the naysayers have to say! 💪
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I really relate to a lot of what you're saying and it kind of scares me a little because I am not diagnosed with anything. On the other hand I have never attempted to get looked at for it but I've had my suspicions for a long time now. I've masked, I thought of it as mimicking because I didn't know masking was a thing, my entire life a part from when I'm alone but especially when I was in school. Have you tried noise canceling headphones or earbuds? They may block some of the over stimulation when you're out in public.
Thank you so much! Getting diagnosed can be a scary thing but it’s also so rewarding and reassuring! And you are not alone 🥰 I never leave my house without my headphones - music is a life saver! 🎶
Thanks for not masking for this video Holly, it will help people see how some of us just try to live as we are without putting in the "effort to look good" for anyone else. I hope you don't mind this question but I am curious at what are were you diagnosed? Take care!
You are 1 million percent correct. We as autistic people should never have to change or be like "normal" neurotypical people. We should be ourselves if they don't like us who bloody cares. I am learning to be me, and that's enough. I am already tired of trying to be normal it's so hard and exhausting. I don't want to wear a mask any longer.
I try to copy what the girls wear as well. There were times that I just did not feel comfortable wearing the outfit that they wore. I decided to wear what I liked, and I am exhausted trying to fit in today's society. All I want to do is wear comfy clothes.
Please be yourself there is no need to wear other clothes just to appease TH-cam subscribers. We as autistic adults can relate, I have a unicorn onesie and Hello Kitty socks.

I’m assuming you mean what age I was diagnosed? I was diagnosed with autism when I was 16… it took a couple of years to get a diagnosis though. 🥰
@@HollywoodHRA yes that's what I meant, thank you!

I have a subject perhaps you might like. What are your special interests? Mine are cats, unicorns, and rainbows.
