    Hay Bundy, thank you very much. My fans were not coming on and I followed step by step where to check. The last part where the thermo switch, I couldn't find a damn wire to test the thermo switch, but finally did and tested it and the fans came on. 10:20pm finally figure this crap out. I've been trying to see what it was since 7pm. But now I know what it is and tomorrow I'll be getting this part and fixing it tomorrow. Thanks man. Saved me a lot of money.
    Question, my AC ain't working. How do I check to see what's wrong? LoL

    Great video. After reading the threads below, it seems that I have a similar problem common to a lot of people. My radiator fan (Cooling fan, passenger side), only comes on when I turn on the AC. The fan obviously works and I've replaced the all the sensors related to the cooling system. The AC condenser fan comes on when the coolant reaches a certain temperature and when you turn on the AC. I don't remember the radiator fan ever coming on without turning on the AC. One confused DYI individual.

    The function of those various thermoswtiches on Hondas is very confusing.. Years ago, I discovered that even the people at the Honda dealership Parts counter didn't understand them. I needed that one replaced in this vid, but they kept giving me the one that controls the engine block fan after key has been turned off.

    HOLY COW. BUNDY YOU THE GOAT.
    My Temp keeps rising first I thought it was a bad thermostat so I changed it. Kept rising then I noticed my fans weren't working anymore so I did tested the fuses and switch the cooling fan relays and now I see and hope that this may be the solution to my problem if not then it probably time for some new fans but hope its this. Very very helpful video.

    I think I have a ground problem. Both fans work when connected straight to the battery. I've done the jumper wire from that switch and only the AC fan kicks on. Went down the line to the sensor on the water outlet for the top hose and I just hear a click coming from the relay. I've swapped them out, like in the video and it does the same thing. That's why I'm thinking bad ground, but not sure exactly where it is located on the car for that particular wire.

    This 95 accord 2.2L has me puzzled. Fuses under hood and dash and relays are fine. Both fans work when I shorted the wire by the thermostat housing. When I short the wire on the coolant temp switch from the upper hose, the passenger side fan works. Both coolant temp switches I replaced but still the fans don't work. I also replaced the coolant temp sensor under distributor cap. Tstat was also replaced. I take it for a drive to get to temperature (10-15mins), drive back home and let idle but the fans don't kick in at all. Anything obvious I missed? Thank you.

    Mr. Bundy I’m stuck in a pickle, I have a 2007 Acura TL and my radiator fan refuse to kick in. I check the fuse the relay and swap them and there working but the cooling or radiator fan refuse to kick in. I bought a new radiator assembly and still doesn’t kick in. The only thing strange is that I notice the temperature went up a bit and that when I notice the radiator fan was working. But I turn off the car and ac and start what after and the temperature look like it was never up, so at this point I’m think the coolant temperature sensor? So if you have any idea it would be helpful I’m al ears

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What’s your coolant level at? If it’s low too off the system. Also yes it could be your temp sensor. You can always loop the two wires together that go into the temp sensor and if the fan kicks on you know you have a bad sensor.

    • @edensnicolas9593
      @edensnicolas9593 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BundysGarage visually I can see coolant in the radiator but I will get some and top it off, as far as looping the wire in not sure how do it I seen the video you posted but couldn’t really tell where you actually put the wire to loop it in the harness. This particular model Tl has two coolant sensor one the bottom of radiator the other at the thermostat housing. Now very important I forgot to say that recently change my hid bulb and there was a major ground wire that look like it feed the radiator fan switch cause I noticed after that the high beam function doesn’t turn on and so doesn’t the radiator fan.

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jairo Castellanos That is actually normal operation. If it's really hot out and the engine has been idling for a long time or is really warm the fans will stay on even with the engine shut OFF and the key out. It cools the engine so no damage will be caused by a hot block. I would check the coolant level in the radiator and the reservoir bottle and make sure they are at the proper levels. Only check the coolant levels when the engine is COLD, or you could end up burning yourself or someone near by, cooling systems are under extreme pressure, it's like a pressure cooker.

    • @jairocastellanos604

      +renz acedo check your coolant level. When was the last time you changed your thermostat? If the engine gets hot while driving and you shut it off, the fan will kick on to cool the engine down, even with the car off. But check the 2 items I mentioned above. My fans only kick on when i shut off the car. Those fans don't ever come on when the car is running. The gauge never touch the red line but it comes closer sometimes. When the gauge goes up i always shut it off and the fan on the passenger side kicks on to cool it down. Under the hood there's sing of leaking coolant on the cap and the cap of the reservoir. Hi, what about if I can hear the fan kicking it, but then it stops, I play with the wire by the connector and the fan kicks in, it seems as though its a wire that's coming from the car, but not the actual fan. I don't know how to explain it.

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a short somewhere.

    • @kimpexia7336
      @kimpexia7336 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bundysgarage yeah, that's what I think it could be the connector on the fan itself or the wire that's coming from the fuse box or something, idk. I can hear the relays clicking too...and Ac and heat fan works, as i changed the cool temp switch I can hear the clicks, but touching the wiring somewhere I have not pin pointed as yet it comes on fan ..I even tried hitting the fan and it's like it kind ah want to spin, so I idk if I should buy both fans or whatever but idk lol

    I replace every sensor and relay and fan, and the thing still doesn't turn on what else could it be

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jose Torres You check the fuses? You sure it's the correct relay you replaced? Are you sure you are getting power to the fans? Check for 12V at the connector to the fan.

    • @joseTorres-tn3pl
      @joseTorres-tn3pl 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +BundysGarage I check the replay , check the fuses everything's good. I check for voltages and everything's 12v except on the relay which is 12v 13 v and 14v on 3 different pins. I spend all fay today and I still couldn't figure it out

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have 12V at the connector you might have a grounding issue?

    My air vent gets no air hot or cold is it because the radiator fans don't turn on when I'm driving is at normal temperature but if I'm in a line let say at Starbucks for like 10min waiting it starts rising temperature until I drive off it goes back to normal temperature

      Can I just install a tungle switch the fans are separated so when I want ac I could just flip the switch to turn on radiator passenger fan and then I could use the ac or heat and when I'm in Starbucks and is starts getting hot just flip the switch on the driver side radiator fan

    So if you jump the connector at the fan switch on the t-stat housing, and the fans come on, does that mean that the relay is good? Trying to narrow down my issue thanks for the video

      @bundysgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes

    • @stickygreenfingerz
      @stickygreenfingerz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      still chasing this ghost problem with my fans. I have replaced the T-stat, the thermo switch, the other coolant sensor on the block, flushed radiator and block, burped all air from system. made the fans come on with direct power. but still they will not come on when im driving or idling at all and its causing steam to leave my radiator cap. ive never taken it to a mechanic before but i am running out of ideas. everything on the internet says the fans should be working, but they aren't. extremely frustrated today.

      You connected the fans directly to a car battery to see if they would turn on? If they didn’t then your fans are bad.

    Replace the coolant fan switch.

  • @kennyman338
    @kennyman338 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you need to drain the coolant? will coolant come out of the thermostat housing. .

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have not changed the coolant in a long time, 100,000 miles plus, yes go ahead and replace it. If you are replacing all of the coolant than drain the block and the radiator. If it has been changed recently then just replace the coolant that is lost when you replace the timing belt. Yes coolant will come from the thermostat housing.

    • @kennyman338
      @kennyman338 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BundysGarage I've replaced the coolant cause I had to replace my heater hose from engine to heater air valve the hose got mushy from oil and deter ates it. Put new coolant and let my car idle and fans never came on,just bought a new fan switch today.

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you checked your relays and make sure the coolant level is good and topped off.

    • @kennyman338
      @kennyman338 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BundysGarage I jumped the plug and fans do come on. Fluid was topped off and bled out. My car overheated cuz the heater hose was bad and cracked.

      Man that's a bummer that the hose split. How long was that hose on there for? Out of curiosity.

  • @RandomReggie007

    Hey Bundy Quick Question I just did this test and my fans came on pretty low at first then started to slowly pick up speed, does that means the fans it's the fans not running strong enough to cool down ?
    Also what's that part called you switched out "radiator sensor hose clip"?

    • @RandomReggie007
      @RandomReggie007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thermo fan switch got it. Ok so my fans came on at a low speed. Meaning my thermo switch is bad then right ?
      But then my fans were starting to pick up speed after 5mins does this mean I should still switch my fans out ? Or just the thermo temp switch or shall I do both to be safe ?
      I'm gonna try the thermo switch first and see what goes on from there.

    I have a quick question if only one of my fan works and the other one doesn't kick on does that mean one blow and the one that's working is not blowing the air towards the radiator it's blowing towards the motor does that mean there's a short circuit somewhere
