The Beatles are my all time favorite group. I know how to play quite a few of their songs on guitar and bass and am adding to the list. And actually I had been working on this song and figured out the riff by listening to the recording so IT WON'T BE LONG before I have this one under my belt. Thanks again, Ivor.
Brilliant. I have fond memories of singing this at school with a pal doing high backing vocals and harmonising. Never thought it would be a suitable song to learn for just one man one guitar. Next in line for learning - already know all lyrics!
Hello, I think you did "AWESOME" on" It Won't Be Long...(Beatles)... couldn't have asked for a better lesson... And as well as for the other people... Thank You very much.
Ivor, I love all these old Beatles songs. I have the original recorded versions in tabs, but somehow I learn better watching and playing along with you. You streamline the song for a solo guitar but still include some nice riffs / embellishments. Still working on Anna, but this one is next. Hope you and your family (including the cates have a great holiday! Take care and thank you
Hi Dickieboy. My guitar is a Taylor 'Big Baby' and the strings I use are Elixir Acoustic Phosphor Bronze Custom Light Guage (11-52) Nanoweb coated. Ivor
Nice Ivor, says It Won't be Long, but it's 24 minutes long lol! (Just for info for anyone interested ,the D Sharp augmented is just a D Sharp with the 5th note expanded so the A# note becomes a B note)
Thanks Rajesh. Perhaps you could clear up my confusion. A site I've just looked at also shows that if the same shape is played at the third fret it is still a D# aug. Why, when it sounds very different. What am I missing?
They would have learned many 'jazz chords' that were widely used before they were born in their early days of playing. Nothing modern about them. Legend has it they once travelled across Liverpool on a bus to ask a musician to show them how to play a B7 chord. Not many good tutorial books, Internet or Ivor in those days!

Great lesson. Isn't it wonderful that after 56 years, there's still an interest in learning these classic compositions?
Hi brpbrp, Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you found my lessons on these timeless classics helpful. Ivor
Yes certainly is. But it doesn't feel 56years ago when I pick my guitar up - I become 14yrs old again. Just wish I could have played it then!

Ok my brain hurts! Haha-I’ll comeback to it tomorrow. How the heck did they think of these chords back in the early ‘60’s? Or was it’s George Martin?
