Here's a fun question to ask carnival workers 😂
I worked at a convenience store overnight for about a year.
I was required to throw away expired food.
I bagged it in a clean bag and set it outside next to the dumpster where the people who had no money for food knew where to find it.
I hated throwing away perfectly edible food- especially when I knew there were people who were waiting and hoping to get something to eat.

Hands down, my worst work task was taking out a garbage pail from the storage room. I was the one who discovered that mice had been falling in and couldn't get out, so they starved. Some of them had resorted to cannibalism. Protip, please turn your empty garbage pails upside down.

i used to work in a restaurant, gaining minimun wage (not even a dollar an hour). i was the one who took the thrash out into a bin a few feet away, i also had to pick up the thrash around the bin since people parked near the bin to get to the restaurant. This wasnt a huge task, just something i did for 2 minutes each day. Well, at night sometimes people would crap around the bin, imagine who had to clean that in the morning.

That is unless you have a uncle that drives 90 minutes to buy splashless bleach only to go home with the regular kind! Was good to see him but had he drove another 15 minutes to our Walmart he would have found all the splashless bleach one could desire in a pandemic! Couldn’t help myself, had to come home and tell my dad to text uncle that he missed out on a bounty of splashless bleach.

Decades ago I worked at an aerospace company when a story made the rounds from several buildings away. A large tank has been flushed out with nitrogen - using air would have been dangerous. A worker went in to do something and after a short time collapsed. A co-worker went in to check him out and collapsed. A third worker finally came along and, figureing out what had happened, had air blown into the tank before trying to bring out the bodies. You get the urge to breath when there is too much CO2 in your lungs - you do not have a sensor for oxygen or lack thereof.

In a crawlspace that mice had made a home in. Reached into the insulation to grab the wire I had to run, down into my mouth dropped a drop of mouse piss. After gagging, coughing, spitting and pulling the wire out through the insulation I noticed my gloves were soaked, the wire was soaked, and the odor was just gross. Like the insulation was holding in the stink of mouse piss and shit.

Which they knew about and didnt care. This happened to all the students, high school included) there was a crazy snow storm and i could make it on time and was scheduled during my class, i was pissed she tried to make me come in at all since there was no way i could have made it. She then told me that i was "an a probationary period and it would look bad if i didnt come" i said okay and that i wouldn't make it. I signed up to wash dishes in a restaurant. After I got the job, they told me I would have to also clean the nasty bathrooms (Seriously, they were nasty, crap all over the toilets and even floor sometimes, tampons and diapers on the floors etc.) Thankfully after a year, they changed it to someone else over sanitation concerns. I always made sure to always use gloves and wash my hands well after cleaning them though.

I don’t fully count since it kind of was my job as night maintenance at a Cracker Barrel but it certainly wasn’t in the job description.
So a couple of months into the job, I was told by someone in the front that the bathrooms were called filthy by one of the customers.
I was rather confused because I knew I had cleaned that bathroom not even 15 minutes ago as I had to clean them often, ( the elderly tend not to be the best when it comes to that) so as I go into the women’s bathroom, I see a turd, but not just any turd, this was a real life turd of that massive one that Randy took in the food baby episode of South Park.
I am a 6 foot 210 pound semi muscular black man and this shit was LITERALLY the size of my forearm and so solid that after flushing three times, it didn’t even slightly begin to crumble.
Now we had baggies in the janitor’s closet for small amounts of poo and throw up but not for this to this degree, so what I had to do was go back into the kitchen area, grabbed three large take out bags, gloved up three times over and grab this actual log of shit out of the toilet and place into the bag three times over to mask it utterly before quickly scurrying it out the back before anyone noticed what I was doing.
Shit was once again so solid that it didn’t even slightly crumble when I picked it up, oh, and the customer who did it didn’t even tell us, a different customer did.

      @DogFlamingoXIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Makes me wonder if the customer who did it was in any condition to talk to anyone after releasing that kind of thing all at once.

This is definitely not the most fucked up but was very demeaning. I started working as a paralegal, and the office had one bathroom for everyone, including clients, to use. When I started, I got really disgusted by how gross the bathroom was; and I had worked at the hospital as cleaning staff while in college, so I cleaned the bathroom after work one day, hoping that it would give us a nice deep clean that the maintenance person would then be able to maintain. I didn't want people to come into a law office and notice the smell of the bathroom from the waiting area. I didn't want to have to use it that way either. When the attorney returned, and we had our morning meeting, he asked about the bathroom; because it was obvious that it was very different. I told him that I had cleaned it, and he thanked me. I was happy that he was happy, since I wanted to make a good impression. He then announced that since I did such a great job, and the cleaning staff was not doing a good job, he would just dismiss them, and I could clean the office at the end of the day, on top of my job as a paralegal. This happened multiple times, where I would do something, and then it would just be added to my responsibilities, even though it had nothing to do with my job. By the time I left, I was cleaning the offices, the bathroom, the waiting room, taking care of the plants in the office (It was full of dozens of plants.), and even cleaning out the refrigerator that belonged to the other office in the building but was creating an odor. He would then complain that I wasn't getting things done fast enough, even though I was doing my job, part of the secretary's job, and a full time cleaning job. He would call me in in front of clients to chastise me for not doing my job like I should be. He would also give me a day's worth of documents to prepare, call me into his office for an hour to listen to him tell stories about his philosophy in life, send me back to my office for five minutes, and would then call me back to his office to yell at me, because I hadn't gotten the documents completed yet. That was almost a daily thing. I also got a half hour off for lunch, where I wasn't paid; but I was made to work through lunch every day I was there. So it was just a half an hour of work that I wasn't paid for. He never let me leave on time either -- usually an hour to an hour and a half daily -- but I was never paid for any of the time (I was paid hourly.). That was just the top of the pile of reasons I hated that job. By the end, I was on medication to manage stress caused by the job.

Work in a restaurant with a broken walk in fridge. That doesn't sound that bad, right? Well instead of relocating the food and shutting down the location until the fridge could be repaired, they shoved a bunch of dry ice to keep everything cool. So in essence, we were expected to go into a toxic gas chamber that could make us pass out in less than a minute. Even though we tried to make a system that one person would always be outside the door keeping time while another person was in, we still had one person lose consciousness and need to be dragged out. Of course this person happened to be without citizenship and had no means to take legal action without the fear of being deported.

Got a similar story to the bleach truck post.
When I used to do stocking for Wally world, we got a truck in during the summer. We had been used to things that had broken open at this point. Except one. On this fateful hot day we had encounter a case of wet cat food that had broken open. And as far as I knew the truck had been there since last night and we started it late in the day (or at least by 10/11ish AM). So you can imagine the smell had to be bad already.
Now the guy who pushed the boxes from the truck had done this job time and time again since I had been working there. We'd usually get the truck done fairly quickly with him doing so and we'd also seen him take a bonk (or several) from the boxes in the truck and keep on going. So not a whole lot stopped him. I want to say that the unload process took about 2 hours on average but this time we were pushing longer and close to lunch time. Well this guy, after about an hour of working in this hot, cat food stank filled truck, finally walked out of it and said, "I need a break." This was a first that I had seen from him within the year I worked there. Now we could smell the catfood from our unloading positions in the stock room and it was rank so to be that much closer to it I'd consider chemical warfare.
Now at this point, I was hungry, tired, and really wanted to be done with this truck. So what do I do? I dove right into that truck and started shoving boxes out of it and down the rollers with a tenacity that I imagine few of my coworkers would ever see from me.
    Did it still smell? Absolutely.
Was I thanked for doing so? Yes
Did I feel good about myself after everything was pushed out? Definitely
Would I ever do it again? Not unless you payed me what the CEO makes.
Tl:dr hot, broken cat food filled truck sent me into hangry fueled workers overdrive.

Welding gas is inert. Theres no way it would explode. You could weld it shut. The only dangerous parr is the pressure. And its getting lower by the second. If its leaking around a threaded fitting its not a big deal.

    • @gnarthdarkanen7464
      @gnarthdarkanen7464 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Two minor problems with that... NOT all welders carry the inert gas... SO if you're using the gases expressed from the core of the wire, you're already flirting with disaster...
The other side is the actual temperature at the welding point... in excess of 7000F... That's not going to dissipate instantly...
The original post expressly specified that they could NOT tell how much gas was leaking at a time, so there's every possibility at a single "strike" (which doesn't guarantee ongoing welding, even with seasoned pro's... there's a fireball and then jets of flame in every direction...
Finally, you can't even just start welding on most gas related fittings. They're (at least around here) almost always coated in some special paint for purposes of additive fire-retardant and sealant... SO with the first three steps of welding being 1. Clean 2. Clean 3 Clean more... within moments of even trying a wire wheel or cup to remove the paint (and any scale with it) you're igniting the growing cloud of gas around you and that end of the building...
There are reasons that (at least around here) there are specific codes requiring that "active lines" are NEVER EVER subjected to grinding or welding. The gas must be shut off FIRST and then fittings removed and replaced with new/updated parts before returning to service... AND you need certifications to work on gas lines anyway (so you know that sort of thing)...
Sure, a long time seasoned guy could probably accomplish it without too much hell to play... BUT there's a "far from zero" chance that even without a freak accident the consequences would be catastrophically expensive and dangerous. ;o)

worst thing i had to do was express dog’s anal glands daily. it was part of the job description though and i knew i was to be doing it. but i was trained to do it before i started working there. so i don’t think it was that bad honestly, you get used to not looking and doing it. otherwise, i would never put up with the shit these people have. jesus christ.

I know it's just a gaming system but the fact a MOM stole her kid's games and then sold em for drug money yeah that kid's going to end up resenting her and not to mention if I was in that situation I would have made some excuse to go into the back and called the cops because if a parent is doing drugs that's bad but if they're doing drugs and STEALING from their kids to get drug money regardless of how their kids feel about it yeah I'd call the cops either way but I'd be half tempted to slap the mom
