    On Wendnesday this will be my new bike! I bought a 2008 Yamaha Tenere and I sold it after 15 days. 210kg is so much weight for my first bike! I tried a CRF 250L and I loved it, so this 300L will be AMAZING! Thanks you for the review, it is the best on TH-cam!

      I’m picking up mine tomorrow (Tuesday).
      I’ve taken crf250 rally for a test drive and I fell in love with it. Capability of these bikes is amazing. I decided straight away that I just gotta have 300l. It’s funny how similar story we both have. Have fun and greetings from Warsaw! :)

      I'm also interested. My last bike was a XT600E. The class >10.000€ or >180kg is not interesting for me.
      Maybe i even had more fun with the 120kg DT80LC2 before.
      But 10 horsepower is really not much....maybe the CRF300 is the sweetspot.
      A KTM390 Enduro would also be great.

    Little tip. If you simply flick the kill switch or intentionally stall the bike for quick stops, the abs stays switched off.
    (Or simply pull the fuse)
    I mainly hit the kill switch for brief stops, (opening gates, chatting, etc.)
    So only have to press the abs switch about once a day.

    Great honest fun video, as per usual. I changed my Africa Twin for a CRF300L this year and am really happy with that. It really is a fun and capable bike, if you don't feel the need for racing performance

    I uncorked my crf250L, removed the pollution gear, opened up the air intake, and installed the EJK fuel controller and its a totally different bike. More power, more torque, but in a lighter bike.

    Have had several WR250Rs and WR450F bikes.
    Got a CRF300L Rally after a few years off the saddle.
    Couldn't be happier. Test rode the CRF450RL but liked the way the Rally rode on highway speeds and had less maintenance.
    Every bike is a compromise, but it does everything just well enough to keep me smiling.

    5:30 awesome, it looks great and practical. I bought my 250L last year( after watching your review) , and 25000 kms later in 1 year....
    I just love the bike, took it to explore, climb difficult hills and mountains pass off road , commute, rally, and a race with all the adventure bikes where i kept very well in front, completly stock but with good tyres.
    .the honda CRFL formula is great , having fun on a bike which is capable, reliable and fun to ride on or off road ( i was amazed how far and where i was going off road) .
    the 300 seems to have answer the little improvements needed . Perfect bike for the guys who don t need all that power, those settings and scary gearing.
    For the pleasure of riding , just because it does it in such a way , the honda became my daily driver .

    I bought one brand new and found it an outstanding bike. Honda stroked the motor and changed the gear ratios and it's an amazing motor. The suspension is soft but I liked it for tough single track. The only negative is it's weight.

      I understood that quickly after about 70000km and owning a 250 and 600 - unless you're planning to do moto-gp on the streets, 400cc is an absolute most you'll ever need.

    I am in a market for a light adv bike. I went over your KTM390 vids, again.....For my style of riding, mostly side roads and light off roads that bike was almost the winner. The weight is right, the power is awesome, with some tweaks the suspension could be sorted out, for me the cast wheels make more sense (emotionally spoke are nicer, but I am sorta tired of dealing with inner tubes) and the ground clearance I could also due with. After watching real owners, long term reviews, I don't want to deal with all the possible issues.
    I live in Asia, here because of license/tax laws the new CRF300 is still 250, we got all the changes, except for the bump in the stroke. My 250/300 2022 Rally is underpowered, or the engine develops power in very uninspiring way, so yes bit of a toy feeling. As we all know, the suspension is just plain too soft, I am 75kgs, little bit of gear, and the shock is done. Your comment about replacing the shock spring is a very inadequate solution, the stock dampening (especially rebound) will create even more of a pogo stick effect. The real solution is replacing the shock, to balance the bike, match the fork springs, and re valve or replace front dampening. Done carefully its $1000 or lot more.
    Do little research on the new 300 clutch, seems that guys who use the bike in the dirt a lot, burn them up in no time. The new plates are much smaller to make room for the slipper mechanism.
    Finally, there are some of us out there (maybe not many), that are "experienced" riders who simply want a reliable, simple, competent light and fun adv. As the CFR300 is a "global" bike I think the Asian 250cc limitation or influence, limits the western version cc. I wish Honda or the other big 2, would built a 35 hp or so version, so a 400-450???, not over stressed engine (like the CRF450), put a reasonable suspension on it, keep the weight reasonable, stay away from unnecessary electronics. Is there enough of us to support and buy such bike? Probably not.
    Seems like I have done a 360 circle, looks like the 300 Rally is the perfect bike for my European visits and trips. I hope the little bump in power is a game changer from my 250. Thx for nice vids.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally I agree what your comment and your 360 circle xD but let me add some more info:
      The ktm390 might be a good bike for you...try it out yourself. My opinion on it may be misleading as i had a lot of unmet expectations. Doesnt really mean the bike sucks that bad.
      As for the increase of power on the 300l.. its not way more powerful, but to me, it feels like "just enough" to be interesting. Especially knowing that, if you fall in love with it there will be unlimited aftermarket upgrades and ways to make it better.
      If you really want to, you can probably get it to those 30-35hp, improve the suspensions quite a lot, etc etc
      There are no perfect solutions unfortunaetely :(

    • @pawelwolski1316
      @pawelwolski1316 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OFFroadOFFcourse I saw both KTM posts of yours, your second "correction" post was spot on. Yes, the KTM 390 is a better bike for me, but for me above all else, the reliability of the motorcycle matters the most. It's unfortunate, but the KTM as many other "higher" end manufacturers and the Chinese stuff, is too much of a gamble. Yes you can open up the 300, but again at a $$$ cost as well as the reliability issue. As I am more of a street oriented rider with the Rally, a 450 cc would solve all the power issues. Even that is a matter of perception, it seems that I like most of us want more, when we have plenty good already. Thx for the reply.

My riding experience on it: about 1 km ;-) As you said not a racer at all, but an easy to ride allrounder, replacing my Transalp 600. I wanted something lighter, the Kove 450 Rally came close. But we don't have the tracks in Bavaria to ride the Chinese rally bike in all seriousness. Cheers from Nürnberg, Günter

    Another great review, I'm looking forward to testing the 300L myself.
    By the way, I don't think it's possible to change the rear spring on the stock shock. At least the guys at MAD TV couldn't, so if you want a stiffer spring you have to change the whole shock out (which by the looks of it should be done by everyone).

    • @Hugo_Alex
      @Hugo_Alex 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is possible, yes. They were just pushing people to go for the full shock conversion. Although in my opinion, if someone can afford to buy the whole shock with at least rebound and pre load adjustments, I would advise to go for that route instead. Just because when you change only the spring you are increasing the worst part of the stock shock, which is the rebound being to fast, at least for most of the terrains inn general.
      This is just my opinion in my 36K on my 250L with stock suspension to this date.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree completely with Hugo! Improving the spring without improvivng the dampening is perhaps worse. Besides, the price of the spring (+ labour) will be perhaps 350€? Might as well put 250€ on top and get a propper shock with adjustments. I wish I had thought of this before the video :(

    Dear Diogo, I have been watching all your videos with interest and pleasure for a long time. I ask you for advice. I am 62 years old, and have 2 motorbikes (Tenere 700 and CRF300L). Where I live (northern Italy) there are many restrictions for off roading. My wife recently purchased a Royal Enfield 350. Since I rarely use the CRF300L (which is causing me problems with the height) I wanted to sell it and buy a Caballero 500 Scrambler, a light, comfortable motorcycle, a little more powerful and usable with my wife and also for some small dirt roads: perfect as a second bike. I ruled out the KTM 390 even after watching your video. The question: given the conditions, am I right to switch to the Caballero, or would it be better to keep the CRF300L? Thanks for the advice, bye

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Basilio! I am very very sorry I took the long to reply! If you are not off-roading that much, then i dont see any reason to keep the CRF300L. And if you struggle with the height of the bike, than surely you would feel better on a lower, more stable and faster bike! I really enjoyed the Fantic Caballero Rally...and honestly, I would also enjoy the KTM 390 Adv if the main use would he on-road. The new 390 (2020+) is actually better than the one I tested, so please dont take it out of your list before you try it :) Its a very very fun bike that will let you explore some trails IF you get the chance :)

      I would consider the PR7 a dual-sport (or a small adventure bike...to me it kinda means the same). Its definitely not an enduro bike because its too heavy for that, the maintenance intervals are long, and you cant really race in any official enduro category (250-450cc, etc).... the problem with it is AJP itself. On my review I was too optimistic... the bike is sold out everywhere (so hard to get), the brand is not doing a good job restocking the distributors with parts, etc etc. Unfortunately, that kind of takes it out of the "recommendable bike's list" in my opinion. Is more like a "buy at your own risk" kind of thing :P

    After a 20 year break from biking I can't decide between this or the CFMoto 450mt...i want to commute to work (4 miles) and some off roading ( if i can find somewhere)... which would you choose?.... thanks.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse

      The CRF300L is by far a better off-road bike and a small commuter in my opinion.
      Its lighter, more practical, more fuel efficient, etc etc... and for me the best part is that it can take you ANYWHERE in the world. Anyone can ride it easily, its not a touring bike but it will tour for as long as you need it to, if you drop it you can pick it up easily, etc etc.
      The 450MT on the other hand is a very affordable and easy way to get into "adventure bikes", whatever that means :P Its a different experience, that I personally enjoy...but is it better than a good dual-sport? Not really

    Acho que as marcas de motos podiam aprender um bocadinho com os fabricantes de suspensões de bicicleta - uma mola auxiliar pneumática (em adição à já existente) tem um ajuste super fácil e permitia uma melhor adequação ao peso e utilização de cada comprador.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse

      As suspensoes "como deve ser" sao muito facilmente ajustáveis (nas normalmente sao a oleo, nao pneumáticas). Um dos problemas da crf é precisamente nao ter afinaçoes nenhumas :p

    • @karlsantos
      @karlsantos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OFFroadOFFcourse A amplitude de variação do módulo elástico possivel de obter com um simples sistema pneumático é muito grande e permitiria evitar a maior envolvencia que existe para trocar de molas (além de que seria perfeita para em motas de aluguer ajustar as molas de um rider de 60 kg para um de 110, como é o meu caso).
      O que se consegue com a pré-compressão das molas de série é muito limitado.
      Quanto ao ajuste de amortecimento tanto em compressão como em recuperação também não é nada do outro mundo mas as marcas evitam usar cartuchos hidraulicos mais "presos" o que resulta no efeito pogo stick.
      Essa preferencia das marcas creio vir da tendência que temos em fazer um testezinho no estacionamento ou numa voltinha muito curta e uma suspensão com a hidraulica muito solta parece mais confortavel no primeiro contacto quando passamos por cima de buracos e bastava trocar o oleo das suspensões por oleo de maior viscosidade para melhorar significativamente.
      Enfim são coisas que dão pano para mangas, como se costuma dizer.
      Boas voltas.

      Hello! :D
      The crf300 is a more capable offroad motorcycle that will let you follow any group of riders (with any biked) anywhere.on the other hand The himalayan does not let you go as fast and safely through hard terrain...
      As for travelling, they have +/- the same top and cruise speed, but the himalayan is much more enjoyable.
      In other words..i feel that the crf300L is a very good and affordable typical dual-sport. The himalayan is something diferent... Its kind of a comfortable scrambler that delivers.

    Viva , que boa review da Crf 300l. Estou a pensar comprar uma para alguma diversão em off road. Contudo, como penso usá-la não apenas para esse fim, pergunto se consigo andar na estrada sem grande cansaço por cerca de uma hora. E pequenos passeios com pendura (em estrada, claro)? As suspensões (principalmente a traseira) aguenta-se, ou será, de todo impossível?
    Agradeço

    How would you say the CRF 300 compares to a Yamaha WR 250 R? I have one and consider replacing it with a CRF 300.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm... good question! I would have to try a WR250 again so I could compare them more accurately...but overall, I would say the WR is still superior (the suspensions are tuneable, and although they are not perfect, they are better and can be improved easily).
      If you own a WR, you really need to test the CRF and test if yourself...but my gut tells me you wont want to change =)
      The WR was too good :)

      1.) Which dealership is easier or cheaper to reach? 2) Am I confident to pick it up, on my own? 3) Further economic concerns. 4) Test sit both.
      For myself: H!, H, ?, ? Buying RE, because thats all you can get, is probably OK, especially when you rode and liked it. My urban German POV: Its a chonk and a guzzler. I also questioned my maturity; at tender age of 50 I felt lacking what it takes to ride a bike even slower than flat out on the motorway and worried that the Honda might withstand my mad 5 minutes or vacation end rushes back home, more gracefully than the Himalayan. Some TH-camrs posted about RE battery, relais and steering bearing issues.
      The Honda is comparably ugly, way too red for my liking, unobtainable and worst: Payload seems absolutely borderline for a big packrat, like me. YMMV.

    klx300 is better by a long shot because of the far superior suspension. no other bike at that price has comparable suspension which is by far the most important when considring any offroad bike.

    ( beaucoup d'autres modifications, la liste est longue mais rien qui ne peut être fait par soi même)) on ne peut pas avoir une moto à 5700€ avec des amortisseurs de qualités. cette moto a été pensé pour faire un maximum de vente plus que d'apporter du plaisir. mes propos manquent de nuance... oui...à 20ans j'aurais probablement aimé avoir cette moto et le fait d'avoir un prix raisonnable est une bonne chose. merci pour cette vidéo et pour toutes les autres

    Great review, as always. BUT, £1500 more than I paid for my 250L new. A lot more cash for a small gain in power. I think the Ktm 390 adventure is a better all round bike for just a bit more cash than the 300L, with it’s pogo stick suspension.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It depends on your focus. If you want road and city with a little bit of non-demanding offroad, pick the the 390. If you love offroad ans have pals to ride with every other sunday, pick the 300L.
      For the purpose of making offroading seem easy accessible and safer the crf is a far far superior bike (even with the pogo stick suspensions) in my opinion.
      I wouldnt think twice :)
