I Upgraded to an SSD and installed the software from a USB, but now my disc tray won’t read any discs, it doesn’t even attempt to, upon the disc entering after about 2 seconds it makes a disc ejecting noise and seems like it’s moving the disc back up ready to be ejected. Any ideas if this is to do with the SSD and what would be the possible solutions ?
Did you disasebled the ps3? When I did it, I accidentally connected the disc drive flex cable "the other way around". In my head it was the same thing but the console stopped reading discs after that. Later I fixed it
@@MikGSC turns out the disc drive was “blocked.” I took it to a repair guy and initially he thought the laser was gone or maybe the mechanical part was busted, but turns out if you push a disc too hard into the slot (previous owner, not me) there is a small plastic part than can click forward preventing discs from even reaching the “reading” stage. One push on this small plastic part from the repairman and boom works like new. For anyone who puts a disc in and instantly hears an eject style noise then this is most likely the cause. I wouldn’t attempt to fix it myself because watching him struggle to open the latch and clips on the disc drive made it look pretty difficult.
After all that my PS3 still didn’t stay on. (Green for a few seconds then cuts out and flashes red until I press power button again). Clear and informative video though, so I appreciate it
Of all the places to put a coin battery they shove it under the blu ray drive why?? It like the Chunky PS2 you need to strip it out to get to the battery because it's on the other side so I didn't bother. But I will need to do this to my PS3 soon
Hello, the bios battery has been changed, but when the device is turned on and off, it asks me to set the date and time again, what do you think could be the problem?
My PS3 was far worse, you have to take the whole board out the case as its covered over ( with just a few aeration holes in the case metal not full access to the battery) , then with the board loose have to take the metal backing away plus the CPU strap downs before you can split this sandwich to get access to the battery. It is no way as easy as this video unfortunately...although the video was still useful thanks.
So my slim ps3 overheats thinking of of chainging the battery and harddrive and adding thermal paste on top and on the bottom of the does metal plates hopefuly it stops overheating should i do it or no???
anyone got any before and after temps to report after changing thermal paste? mine rarely goes about 69 - max 71 under load (idle is about 60degrees) so i dont think that ill bother. just give the fan a clean
Could that be the case ,why my jailbroken ps3 dont run smoothly red dead redemptio and gta 5? And it makes a lot of fan noise. Could someone please give an answer

Did what you show here, exactly how you showed it and it worked perfectly, thank you so much :)
Excellent!

Exactly what happened to mine
Sounds like the Yellow Light of Death, pay attention to the power light before the beeps, see if it flashes yellow before going red.
@@deko2060 yeah I thought so too. Sad times

For the process of elimination, I would check/replace the battery again.
"You will void your warranty"
Is there any PS3 that is still within Warranty at this stage?
I very much doubt it!
Isn't it illegal for companies to say you will void the warranty. Because as a consumer you have the right to repair your own stuff

I heard on the internet that 2100 was better
Any updates ??? Ia this going to fix the problem longtem?😊
Mine is still working.

Changing the battery & hard drive won't stop the overheating. Clean out all the dust & do the thermal pasting first.
Does doing any of this force the HDD to reformat (will I lose my DLed games)?
It shouldn't affect your HDD at all.

Can't rule that possibility out.
My PS3 is dead because of YLOD can you help me, I open it 5 seconds blinking green then sounds of 3 beeps then goes red color.
I've not personally had this error thankfully. But some quick research hints at a component failure on the main board.
@@TheRetroStuffGuy I replace the PSU with same refurbished model, still experiencing. How to fix? The board?
@@markhovscrch4050 Yes. Probably the main board.
How in the hell does someone let their systems get so freaking filthy?
With time my friend. With time.
Maybe the 14 or so years its been released?
Nightmare....
