    I started doing military press pretty consistently, and my handstand push-up progress has gone much faster. You still have to practice handstand push-ups to get better at handstand push-ups though.

    • @megamastah
      @megamastah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ditto. Calisthenics elements are great if you are already very strong. Getting there is much faster with weighted calisthenics/free weight training than with any of the bodyweight progression. Unless you are 160 cm/60 kg and can planche all day - then go for it.

    Dominik what do you think about one arm one leg push ups and one arm divebomber push ups (hardest thing ever), when I got to 22 nonstop reps of OA Divebomber push ups per arm I had a 160kilo bench the first day in my gym, never benched before in my life.
    I would like to ask that does the divebomber push up hit the chest as hard as they hit the shoulders? My pump and soreness says it does. However that may always not be the most reliable metric.

  • @rafaelpaulino497
    @rafaelpaulino497 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really good video, just have a question, you place the OHP over the bench press and you give your reasons why, however many would argue that the BP does have higher progression potencial and muscle activation because more weight is lifted in that exercise and targets the pecs with a much bigger emphasis.
    I do get your point about the BP having a weaker scapular connection and I strongly agree, but I’m not sure about the other two. So what’s your reasoning behind your position on them?
    Still, really liked the video, great work

    • @falkvambrie103
      @falkvambrie103 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I seem to remember that in a video a few months ago, he touched on the same controversy. Then, he argued that the transferability of the Military Press is higher, i.e. if you have a strong MP, you can do almost anything pressing-related (also Bench Press) but a strong BP will not enable you to do a HSPU.
      I don't know about the exact biomechanical reasoning, and it seems to be more of an empirical observation, I think.
      Hope I could help. ;)
