That intro brings a lot of memories back! The compilation video where you use this music was one of the videos why I started doing calisthenics and created a TH-cam channel, so thanks Dominik for the motivation and doing what you do!
I started doing military press pretty consistently, and my handstand push-up progress has gone much faster. You still have to practice handstand push-ups to get better at handstand push-ups though.
Ditto. Calisthenics elements are great if you are already very strong. Getting there is much faster with weighted calisthenics/free weight training than with any of the bodyweight progression. Unless you are 160 cm/60 kg and can planche all day - then go for it.
Goddamn bro, you are inspiration itself. Started doing calisthenics a few months ago and you channel gives me life. Thanks for the great content brother!
Wow ,I am seen it late but man your content is the best out there you give the most valuable information when it comes to strength training or at least I think that
Bench is definitely better than the ohp because after the back the chest is the biggest muscle group in the upper body but either way one should do both because both are great lifts.
I agree with the 4 exercises but isn't the chest neglected? I personally do weighted ring dips, and it seems to work pretty well. So I'd suggest adding some kind of a dip as the 5th exercise.
Your health problems are likely to stem from your diet. Iv been in the same situation due to high carb/sugar in my diet. After switching to keto I'm getting bigger then iv ever been and have 6pack year round. I'm 43yo and 87kg 186cm. Also intermittent fasting. Only eat 2 meals a day and do it within a 6-8 hour window. Hi Dominik, great stuff men. I really like your style. Ive learned a lot lately. I like learning from other People. You are right about so many things. I definitely gonne hook up. Thanks for the instructions
can you make a vid about how to program these? and how to progressively overload them depending on whether your a beginner, intermediate, or advanced practitioner?
I'am 195 cm and 92 kg. I can squat without any leg training 1rm 140/150 kg squat but Iam exception. I'am not doing any leg exercises because I already have geneticaly big legs and would get even bigger which would translate in much harder levers and upper body calisthenics movements which are already pretty hard for my body composition but definetly Sky is correct for many "average built" calisthenics guys squat should be in their workout plan 👌🏽
@@joshbuckingham6121 They use the whole body and are by definition very powerfull movements. Those power movements raise testosteron much more than other lifts do. Sprinting is very benefical in many ways (metabolism,..)
If you do conventional deadlift then that would be good in a pull day, with the squat you can do some sumo deadlifts or romanian deadlifts as an accessory lift for the legs. But honestly i deadlift once per week and i keep it as a standalone day because it's just so demanding on your nervous system.
i'm defintly the worst at military presses with only at 50kg for 5reps, compared to my squat, deadlift and pull up, it is so bad. i'm squating 140kg for 3,deadlifting 180kg for 1 and maxed out pull up with 40kg.
Dominik what do you think about one arm one leg push ups and one arm divebomber push ups (hardest thing ever), when I got to 22 nonstop reps of OA Divebomber push ups per arm I had a 160kilo bench the first day in my gym, never benched before in my life. I would like to ask that does the divebomber push up hit the chest as hard as they hit the shoulders? My pump and soreness says it does. However that may always not be the most reliable metric.
Really good video, just have a question, you place the OHP over the bench press and you give your reasons why, however many would argue that the BP does have higher progression potencial and muscle activation because more weight is lifted in that exercise and targets the pecs with a much bigger emphasis. I do get your point about the BP having a weaker scapular connection and I strongly agree, but I’m not sure about the other two. So what’s your reasoning behind your position on them? Still, really liked the video, great work
I seem to remember that in a video a few months ago, he touched on the same controversy. Then, he argued that the transferability of the Military Press is higher, i.e. if you have a strong MP, you can do almost anything pressing-related (also Bench Press) but a strong BP will not enable you to do a HSPU. I don't know about the exact biomechanical reasoning, and it seems to be more of an empirical observation, I think. Hope I could help. ;)
