@Craig Daniels I totally agree, I'm 60 and newly retired with about 1.2 million outside retirement funds, no debt, and very small dollars in retirement funds compared to my portfolio balance over the past 3 years till date. tbh, the role of the investment advisor can only be overlooked, not denied. just have to do your research in finding a reputable one.

The builder might build it for you for around $400k in the bay area, with all the red tape, but the lot is separate and here it was $70k, in the bay area it would be over 1 million. The majority of the cost is not construction, but the land it sits on.

I think a housing crash will happen because all those people who bought homes over asking price, although it was at a low interest rate, they are over their heads. They have no equity if the housing prices continue to go down, and if for whatever reason they cannot afford the house anymore and it goes into foreclosure because even if they try to sell, they will not make any money. I think this will happen to a lot of people especially with the massive layoff predicted for the future and the cost of living rising at a high speed.
I suggest you offset your real estate and get into stocks, A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. This is not financial advise but get buying, cash isn’t king at all in this time!
You are right! I have diversified my 450K portfolio across various market with the aid of an investment coach, I have been able to generate a little bit above $830k in net profit across high dividend yield stocks, ETF and bonds.

It is the socioeconomic forces that can have an impact on your destiny and your self. It will come down to having a good job, savings and investments, and perhaps luck.
We, up in Ontario, Canada (close to Toronto), can only dream of buying a home like that for $300k. Going rate is more like $1.6M-$2M ++, dependent on the size of the lot.
And interest rate goes up. Sucks all money.
I live in Toronto also .... This house would be 3 million here if not more .... Our tiny bungalow is worth more than a million if we ever sold it ... I can only dream of having a house like that here ...yet if I sold mine I could buy two of these houses there even given the exchange rate . Not fair.

Nice looking house. All that’s needed now is landscaping. Pavers or stamped concrete on the driveway would have been the the finishing touch needed to truly put this in the luxury class. Not sure McAllen would be a good fit for me personally, but nice overall, nonetheless. The biggest issue is Texas property taxes though. 😳

I live about an hour away from London and even where i am a small apartment costs £450,000 pounds thats about $570,000 dollars for a two bedroom apartment. I can’t believe a property like this can be this cheap!

McAllen lots can range from $40-70k depending on locations.

I'm seriously thinking about moving from Fort Worth to the RGV. I have a VA Home loan benefit that I want to use once the tax rate goes down. I would like to work with you on getting a nice (new) house at least 20 mins drive to UT RGV that is at least 3,500sqft and has at the least an acre of fenced land connected to it. I refuse to be represented by anyone else, other than you or your family.

Thanks for sharing. HEB is not the Hispanic Whole Foods. HEB is more like a Texas version of Kroger. However, since it's a Texas based grocery store, you can find a lot of your Mexican based groceries, etc.
Ehhh… I wouldn’t compare it to Kroger, fyi we have Kroger stores in Texas the only thing similar is that they both sell groceries
H‑E‑B is most definitely all about Texas 😁 A completely different vibe then a regular grocery store. H‑E‑B also owns Central Market
As long as the Border is wide open real estate values will stay low in these areas.
