Dude, you don't understand how much this video helped me!!! I had quite a few good Ideas for some prompts, but with so many of them being so similar, I had no Idea hot to make each prompt unique. Thank you for the effort and time you put into making this video!
Thank you so much for pushing out such meaningful content. As an illustrator at the beginning of my career, this channel has been invaluable. FYI: I found you via your interview with Mr. Tom Froese. Cheers!
😂 This anecdote about your grandparents spying on cars passing on their street killed me, thank you. I hope some illustrators will turns it on greats coverbook
Love this spontaneous brainstorming! What a great way to improve the English language skills too. I’ll be doing this with my ESL friends, we’ll take turns and see what comes up :)
Loved hearing your take on the words, this was fascinating! I'm brainstorming a spin on florals for Inktober and the prompts will make it interesting! 😅
26:06 you're thinking of Florida lmao! 😂 This gave me a good laugh. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. This is gonna be the first year I'm going to seriously try to tackle inktober as a daily drawing challenge. Unfortunately though, I did find that I kinda hated a lot of the prompts and found most of them to be pretty synonymous with each other or just bland and uninspiring. This video kinda helped get the gears turning though, which is very much appreciated!
Omgggg James you are a freaking genius 😅 I started to sketch the peachtober, and I feel pretty bad because I was doing it for fun. But if I can match every prompt with a client at the end of October I’m going to have 31 projects or all the ones I’m able to create ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Violin also makes me think of the spider that has the violin shape on it as an identifying mark, brown recluse maybe? but it's what separates it from its 'similar but non poisonous arachnid. (That would put it into the same travel / exploration/ hiking vibe!)
Personally, I've heard a lot of complaining about the prompts, but I see them as a door to imagination. You'd don't need to see them as literal. Take backpack for instance... When I w the first prompt, the song "He ain't heavy, He's my brother" came to mind and I thought of someone carrying someone else upon their back... maybe a soldier carrying an injured soldier. Something like that.
@@TheIllustratorsGuide Sure, for example Exotic, my first thought was of a European walking in an African village, and everyone staring at this exotic beast :) Not very commercial though. Backpack is a lady carrying her child in the traditional way, also not very commercial :(
Ok cool! I think there's a way to make those commercial. Any kind of travel magazine could have articles relating to these ideas. And maybe the mother carrying the child is a book cover about traditional African village life?
Those are great ideas from your own perspective! The mother carrying child would make a wonderful series of “How Mothers Around the World Carry Their Child”. Because in traditional Asian cultures, they also use a long piece of fabric:)

Yep, Florida oranges. You’re right!
I really liked what I saw in the video, I saved it to keep watching it. Thanks from a Colombian drawer!!!
I'm glad you like it! Thanks from a British non-drawer :-)

Well, there's nothing wrong with doing it for fun, but if that fun can also be useful, that's pretty good too.
ooh this will be the first time ever i'm going to try inktober!! i hope i can get a lot of the prompts done but i get easily distracted.
Me too!

That’s a great one, I’ve never seen one of those
