[SFV:CE] Combo into Throw!? Gill Combo Video

- That final combo is the most difficult combo Gill has and one of the most difficult in SFV, until someone can prove to me otherwise. I spent 80% of the time making this video figuring it out and trying to get footage of it. It requires walking back before the fireball loop and a frame perfect walk to crouch before hitting that cr.MP xx shoulder charge near the end. If you don't believe me about its difficulty you're very welcome to try to reproduce it.
Also, his regarding 'combo into throw'. With most characters, this isn't a big deal because of their ability to put the opponent into a grounded crush counter state and throw them from there. As far as I'm aware Gill can't crush counter so cannot do this. He does have a very weird crumple state he can put you into but if you try to throw the opponent while they're in this state it won't work. This crumple effect is really strange and I don't think it's currently working as intended.

Why are you glad of that? I would rather have hard combos that show the depth of the char than jump in heavy, heavy, medium, move

@@jayjayboy3000 SFIV was so janky in vanilla, and we have edition select to prove it. SFV didn't quite go in the direction I wanted it to, but it's def worth playing these days and I'm sad the elitist mindset won't allow for encouraging growth and supporting the various communities. There're tons of good games atm and I dunno why they gotta compete.

When Gill hits you you just gotta put the controller down till he's done. Take a bathroom break, microwave some bagel bites, maybe take a trip to the 7-11. Either way, he's not gonna be done any time soon.

@@unknowingreaper6556 no, he is actually very honest. The damage scaling is huge on him, You can take a bath but in reality the damage he did is like a 4 combo from ryu. Not all comboes you see here are actually worth to do in a proper game. One thing I noticed is that his range is low and slow on recovery so you get punished on block like nothing. Where Gill shines the most, imho, is into the burst damage, short strings ending with an elemental status effect on (ice if you want to focus on stun bar damage or fire if you want to focus on health damage).
He appears strong but not OP, I think Capcom did a good job with him, he is balanced. I can't say the same about Rashid :P
Gill is honest.. its m bison you gotta just throw the controller at the wall because he will combo or have you on block stun for days

It's only narratively appropriate that his CA can overpower Urien's.
It does the same thing to Ryu’s super as well. I haven’t seen it on any others but I assume it will do the same.
@@GemmaBee14 Yeah, it also does with guile's one, even with the vtrigger on.
What I noticed, is that the super itself is only 1 hit, but when you use it, the ball stay there for some time, and as long as the ball stays there, it will block any firebal or something similar.
Interesting enough, I tried some things os the lab, and I used Ed's vtrigger 1(the one he creates a ball), and lanched some balls, one after another, turns out that Gill super can only take 3-4 balls at the same time before dissapearing and leaving you vulnerable.
Supers like the Rashid"s one still beat Gill super, even if Gill use his later...
As soon as I saw how the retribution mechanic worked that desk was gonna come up with some crazy stuff!

@@AndruTalks tap medium punch & kick together (after selecting the vskill that allows parrying). The timing is way more lenient than in SFIII, you could even mash afterwards, if you parry the 1st hit. You shouldn't mash when parrying Chun Li's CA tho.
EDIT: These are the only characters that can parry:
Ryu, Alex (v-trigger activated), Abigail (v-trigger activated iirc) and Gill.

0:34 - I officially declare this harder to pull off than a Daigo parry. Not only the execution has to be super precise and on point, but also the timing of the CA is also very narrow in order to negate Urien's CA. Perfection!
Yea that could he harder than an sfv Daigo parry, but if you mean third strike, then you're honestly tripping

You just have to mash parry for aegis, react to the tackle and buffer CA on the last parry, it's not that hard

Capcom really needs to get Desk to do the character trailers. This is the kind of stuff the FGC wants to see when a character drops. Granted these are ideal conditions, but it's nice to know it can be done.

This is how Gill should have been out the box. He looks top tier here but in reality, not really. Still very good though. I love how the fire debuff, iin combo with the ice ground trap, causes a crumple state.

I think Gill is a lot like G. So much explosive power with his combos but the party only starts when he has EX bar and VTriggers as thats the only way he gets retribution.

I've been trying your last combo (On G) for the last 4 hours and I can't get the EX Pyrokinesis into cMP into EX Pyrokinesis into cMP part no matter how much I try. Hell, even looking at the frame data, I don't get how it's possible since cMP has 6 startup frames, 2 active frames and 2 recovery frames (though it seems like more on your video), EX Pyro L has 14 starup frames and travels for 3 frames before connecting while you recover in what appears to be 44 frames instead of 45, giving you just enough time to connect the next cMP... Any tips on how to manage this part?
