      King Tuck, please come back! this is so similar to when Uncle Mike aka Michael Brantley went down in his final two years with the Astros and it felt like getting him back would be just what the offense needed to really just dominate.
      So instead, the Astros ofc have to just squeak by instead of dominating as they should be doing (sans injuries), but hey... whatever it takes, am I right? (WITHIN REASON)

      This Astros team reminds me of the 2001 Oakland A’s. They got off to a horrible start, but began surging right before the halfway period. A’s started at 39-42 and would go on to win 102 games after an insane second half. After seeing this streak and the Astros sweeping the Orioles, I think 100+ wins this season is possible. Will it be difficult, absolutely, but with Jose Abreu gone and Loperfido back out there, I think they can do it.

    • @jerrygomez3825

      @patrickcheatham2997 you really believe they'll win 60 games before they lose 22 games? It's not impossible but their schedule is not that easy. If they win over 90 it would be impressive. Unlikely

      @@jerrygomez3825 Astros proved they could go toe to toe with really good teams such as the Orioles last week, and their lineup is red hot. Also, pitching has become a lot better since Abreu left. Hunter Brown looks like an ace in the making with what he’s been doing. Reminds me of Chris Carpenter in 2011, rough start but became a shutout pitcher in the second half.

      @gfox9295 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Hell, sweeping the Orioles WITH him would still have been impressive, but yes... doing it without him was even moreso.
      But it's really the pitching that has disappointed more than the offense or defense this year. Once they're hitting on all cylinders for longer than a few days at a time, they will be a force to be reckoned with. I hope they can maintain this momentum increase through the All-Star Break in a week or two.

    I was lucky enough to catch my first in-person 'Stros game in years on May 19th. You mention Tucker NEVER chases, but it's not quite true, at least from my experience that day. What he did was fascinating, though.
    Tucker started that day's game in green cleats. He struck out three times in a row. He changed cleats to a different color. He then homered twice in a row, scoring 4 RBIs and making the difference in the win. Baffling, but awesome.

    For as amazing as Kyle Tucker is, he isn’t even the reason for the surge. He’s been injured for all of June. Luckily his replacement Joey Loperfido is a beast at plate and is hitting with amazing consistency. The real difference has been the improvement in pitching. Pressley and Hader have finally gotten it together and are doing well out of the bullpen. Hunter Brown has been one of the best pitchers in the league over June after posting an ERA over 9 in April. Spencer Arrighetti has shown a lot of development in June too. I also think the release of Jose Abreu was a major wake up call for the team as well. Along with that, Alex Bregman has finally found his swing and gotten his mojo at the plate back, he always starts the season slow so this wasn’t any surprise for long time Astros fans.

    This season reminds me a lot of 2005 when the Astros started off terrible and the Chronicle(newspaper) printed their tombstone when they were 15 or 16 games under .500. They then proceeded to play .900 baseball and were back to .500 around the allstar break from what I remember. They ended up going to the world series for the first time that year where they got swept.

    Pretty cool what the Stros are doing. Seems like a couple weeks ago they were 9 back of Seatle, and now, what, 3.5. But do they have the pitching to keep this going. Blanco, the most innings he's pitched was 120 last year. Is he gonna be gassed after the break. Brown, can he keep up this insane pitching. Probably not. Verlander is obviously iffy. Arighetti, his velo is improving, so that's a positive. Love to see em go out and get a pitcher that won't cost them an arm and a leg, someone like Quantrill. Enjoying it for now, but we'll see.

      [replying to myself with some longwinded rambling bc I didn't want to spam up my OP with it... sorry in advance for the tldr, tho... but JIC you care to read it, DD:]
      Srsly, tho, some good objective points by you as well, not just unabashed Astros praise. This is my first video of yours, so I have no idea which team or teams you root for, but... it doesn't really matter, you've got a good style and tone. [I did just notice that behind you is a Toronto Blue Jays WS champs banner and you showed an Astros/Blue Jays clip from early in April this year, so I'm guessing that may have answered my question... I like the Blue Jays as well, I was rooting for both the Mariners and them to make it to the playoffs the past few years when both teams were so close but weren't getting in every year... keep on beating the Yankees, Blue Jays, that's the main thing!]
      I don't know that the 2024 Astros start was THAT bad a start... well, okay, the parts where the Astros were in 4th or 5th place in the AL West was pretty damned bad, but they pretty quickly got to 3rd place behind Seattle and Texas. It started to turn around when they won both the games against the Colorado Rockies in Mexico City several weeks into the season. THAT was pretty badass.
      And at that point, they were IMO no worse than the 15-30 start they had in the early 2000s which made the Houston Chronicle infamously put a giant tombstone on the front page of the entire paper or at least the sports section, one or the other (both?! por que no los dos?!? ;D) and yet made it to the ALCS or the WS that year (don't remember offhand which year that was, either 2004 or 2005, IOW).
      So um... yeah, we've been here before. Astros kinda suck in Aprils and May. It's even happened more recently than the 2000s. At least once or twice before in the current AL dynasty 2017-present years, so.... Thank goodness (for us Houstonians, at least) that they can turn it on in June (usually).
      Now it's just a marathon, not a sprint, to see what happens in the end. As I mentioned in an edited-to-add above, I do like Seattle a lot, too, so I'm glad we're chasing them right now instead of Texas! ;D

    The head coach is not letting the pitchers pitch what they want best way they were losing at first
    I don't know if they're letting the pitchers pitch what they want now, but you remember Dusty Baker he was letting the pitchers pitch what they wanted, but the area that Dusty Baker messed up on was when Dusty would take out the pitchers, and the other team didn't even get a run;
    you don't do that! you take out the pitcher when the other team getting runs especially on the playoff game or more than that in the world series game and that's what Dusty Baker was doing that's why the Astros lost

    Guys, guys… Guys… Please always remember that baseball is not about who’s better. Believe me, I have seen better teams lose unexplainably to horrible teams and it makes no sense any way you look at it. It all boils down to who’s HOT. Right now, the Houston Astros are on fire, if they keep this synergy they can compete in the playoffs easily. Really in truly though, when it comes to the final 4 and the world series, the only team that’s ever going to win is who’s hot, who’s stealing bases, who’s getting hits to get off base, the teams that are actually making movements each inning and not staying stagnant and allow the other team opportunities to get points and fuel their detriment.
    edit: the start of the season the Braves started out hot, now they slowed down and then the Phillies started to be hot, now they are starting to stagnate as well.
