Oh, I'm old enough that calculators to do math in classes, tests, state exams or finals were not a thing. You had to KNOW all your theorems and formulas. Depending on the class, you may be given a sheet with the important ones but if not it was all on you!

I love math as much as i love chocolate. Im a chocoholic. (Like an alcholic but chocolate version.) I know my 0-12 tables and if its 13 up within the tables, I just cross mulpitply on paper. Im a fourther grader. My first year as a fourth grader we just started and its EASY so far like really easy. Im also hard om myself too if i don't get a 90 or higher. I mean like ill take a 75-100. As long as I dont get below 75%, I okay because 75% is the lowest score you can get to pass at test in my school. But I prefer to get 90% or higher. As long as I pass my test, Im gucci. Also today i took my PBA for writing. My first one!!

It is so sad to see so few women going into careers in the STEM field. I am a female engineer and I use math and science everyday. This stuff isn't useless. It also isn't for everyone, but its definitely gender based.

I'm a woman in school for engineering. I don't think the subject is gender based. I know tons of women in my field. I agree, though that it's sad people don't see the relevance of math. It is used in everything. Technology and modern progression would not exist without math.
Everyone has different preferences.. not every girl wants to go in to engineering, I had to do stem in place of family living and I hated it, it’s not gender based

There's a bunch of tricks to making arithmetic easier. Like 9 being 10-1 when multiplying, or the rules for if numbers divide nicely by 2, 3, 5 or 10. Once you know them, you can forget some points in the multiplication table and just reconstruct them on the fly.

I mean they're Internet personalities so I don't expect much. Plus, the comment that this doesn't matter is what got me. Like there's so many fields that utilize math, especially STEM. Shouldn't we be encouraging young girls to go into this and tell them that it does matter?
Formal education doesn't equate to intelligence. Honestly I don't know it off the top of my head I never fully memorized my times tables it would take me a bit to figure it out and I'm terrible at math.. Also any other subject is easy for me I was valedictorian in high school and now an honor student my memory is very good but terrible when it comes to math. So if you want to feel sad for me ok but it's never stopped me from anything. I could say I find it sad grown women don't know how to compile code or draw well but that's not a skill we all will use/need or want so what's the point in judging we all have specialized talents.
The real issue is that the way we were taught math was entirely based on memorizing rather than working out a problem. For me I'd always forget 6x9 but then I figured out how to troubleshoot (6 x 10 is 60 so 60 minus 6 is 54).
If you want to feel sad because they don't remember arithmetic or the nines table... ok?

I remember when I struggled with multiplication and division so much and now it's so flipping easy i wish I could go back to those days but also still be really good at it I have memorized basic multiplication more than division but now that I'm older and have more difficult things I miss the fast facts sheets I honestly would do one of these for fun lol

In my school we get 5 minutes to do 100 division and multiplication
In my class we have to do 199 multiplication problems in 3 minutes and I'm the only one in my class to get finished first.
Oh and I'm in 3rd grade
